Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

I'll be thinking of you guys today! I hope they keep your mother an extra day, as well, especially if that is what makes her feel comfortable.

I don't have to ask that you keep us posted, b/c I know you will! Here's a special hug for you:

Am so glad your mom's surgery went well and that she is doing better! I agree that she should stay an extra day and night - she knows her body more than anyone. Sending special hugs your way that she continues to recover and you get some rest as well

Good morning,

I called my Mama this morning to check on her. The doctor came around this morning and said he was going to keep her another day which I think means today and tonight. Sure hope so. The reason for keeping her is the incisions are a bit swollen. He said it could be because she's on fluids and Heprin (spelling?) to prevent clots. He took her off those and gave her something for her headache.

Her arm is still doing it's little bouncy thing when she tries to lift it. It's hard to describe what it's doing.....when she picks her arm up (the one they had strapped down to the bed during surgery), it kind of just moves up and down a bit...kind of a little bounce. My mother's cousin who is a nurse said that is pretty normal and when she had her surgery a couple of months ago, her's did that for a week after the surgery.

Mama's mouth is still drooping and her lips droops like mine does. Told her she was just trying to immitate me and my Bell's palsy. I'm trying to make light of it because she's really really worried it is permanent. Told you she's a worry wart!

The bossman was in some kind of weird mood again yesterday. His whole family is odd! Anyway, I'm not in any kind of mood for him to start being all weird on me today so he better look out.;)

If I have time, I want to write another installment of our Animal Kingdom day just to get my mind off things.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and well wishes and prayers!

Good news about your Mom for sure. I bet she stays the night and that would be great. Her arm is jumpy because they probably pressed a nerve when it was strapped down. It will get better. Her mouth should improve with time too. Is it kinda like mother like daughter? Mother's worry. That is their job.

I kinda told my boss last week when he was being weird that I had other things on my mind other than my job. I had already been here 11 hours and I have a life. He has not asked me since. Good thing for him.

Have a great day.

Ginny

Good morning! Lisa,
happy to hear that they have decided to let your mom stay another night. Hope all starts to settle down and thw swelling and other problems settle down, too! Have a great day, today!
:wave2:

As you will recall, we arrived at the Animal Kingdom in time to take advantage of a little bit of the extra morning hours. The park is not even officially open yet and we've had several pictures taken by the Photopass castmember and we've gone on safari where we saved Little Red or Baby Red or whatever that little elephant's name is. Heck, we've heard that part of the safari so many times, we pretty much ignore it.

I did forget to mention though that there was a family sitting in the row in front of us and they sounded as if they were from Australia. We had the best time watching them get all excited when the driver said we were going after the poachers. The two boys, who were about 7 or 8 and looked to be twins, really got into the storyline. They ducked when there was the sound of bullets and clapped when they saw Little/Baby Red in the back of the truck. It was fun to see the story through their eyes.

When we got through with the safari, we walked over to the Pangani Forest Trail to see if the gorillas and other animals were out and about this morning.

You'll remember that it's been two days since we started wearing our celebration buttons and, so far, Lacey hasn't gotten one single acknowledgement....not a Happy Celebration...not a What are you celebrating?.....not a Happy Graduation! ZILCH! NOTHING! A GREAT BIG OLD GOOSE EGG! We couldn't help but laugh when a castmember standing at the entrance of the naked mole rat building (I don't know if it has a proper name but we call it he naked mole rate building.) told Hunter Happy Birthday and told John and I Happy Anniversary! What did Lacey get? A door held open for her.:rotfl:

While Lacey, Hunter and I were looking at this ugly guy.......

.....John walked over to this older gentleman who was a castmember and pointed Lacey out to him. He told him the story that she hasn't gotten any recognition for her Graduation button and would he pleeeze say something to Lacey when she walked by him. The guy said he'd be more than happy to.

We turned around to go see the naked mole rats and the castmember said....very loudly.....Lacey! Happy Graduation! which made a lot of the people in the room turn around and look at her. Lacey just smiled and did a little curtsy. Then, she turned to her Daddy and said...."You told him didn't you!" John, of course, denied it and then she said "Well then how did he know my name?" Busted!:rotfl:

It was about this time that I noticed my camera was acting up. It would shut down while I was trying to take a picture or the lens would open up but I couldn't take a picture. I thought it was because the batteries were about to die. I tried to take pictures of the naked mole rats and these were the only two that turned out:

We looked at the rest of the little animals in the cages and walked out of the naked mole rat building in search of more animals. While walking, I changed the batteries in the camera and it seemed to be working okay again. We came upon these fish. Yes, we did the spit trick to make them come over so I could take a picture. See the little spit ripples in the water:

We could tell that the crowds were picking up because more and more people were on the trail with us. We let a bunch go in front of us before we went on further. This animal was beautiful:

Usually there are a whole lot of these deer standing around but all I could see was the one so I figured the others were hiding amongst the trees and grasses.

We walked over to the Timon, I mean meerkat, enclosure, and were very surprised that no Timons were there. Just these vultures:

****Gotta stop for a minute. The copy machine just finished copying a big stack of papers that the boss is taking to the courthouse at 1:30. I'll be back to write more.

Sorry!

Since there wasn't anything to look at in the meerkat enclosure except for the ugly vultures we moved on. I had to take a picture of whatever this pretty flower is:

We had finally made our way around to where the gorillas viewing area was and there were so many people standing around that we couldn't get very close to the corner where the one and only gorilla was sleeping. We decided to keep going and see if maybe the gorillas were around in one of the other viewing areas. Before we went though, Lacey wanted her picture made in front of this sign:

We were excited to see that there was a gorilla walking around the viewing area on the left:

And this one was taking a little break:

I was surprised that there were only two gorillas out because last year there were five out. Maybe the others were hiding out somewhere?

The Pangani trail has some beautiful landscaping including this pretty waterfall:

Up next: Rafiki's Planet Watch and our quest to find new hidden Mickeys!

Really good updates and pictures as usual Lisa. You do not disappoint. And Lacey, finally getting recognized. Wonderful. Too bad John got caught. She is just too cute.

The meerkats weren't out cause Mel and I were giving them snacks in the back. They stink but the are cute. You will find out how bad they stink when you get to CBR later that night.

Great update Lisa! I just love the gorillas!!! Animal Kingdom is great! I love animals!!! I always take my time going through the trails. Can't wait to hear about Rafiki Planet Watch! I always visit that place! You get to touch the animals!! However, I will say, that the cow/cattle (whatever you want to call it) does not like me at all!!! Seriously, every single time I go there and go over to it all it does is moo really loud!! Scares the heck out of me!!! LOL! :confused3 Gotta love the Animal Kingdom!!! Can't wait to hear more!!! :surfweb:

I am going to the Rumors board right now. I can't believe when I came over here the first post I see is about a deal :goodvibes. Am I pathetic or what? I haven't even left yet and I'm already thinking about another trip :sad2:.

Fun update on the AK! love Lacey's reaction!!! what a sweet daddy she has!

I thought of you when Lisa posted that link. Wouldn't that be awesome to have a good offer in the works? Maybe Sheri, Sandi and I could go

Just peeking in to say that I'm enjoying the trip report and pictures! :)

My husband and I are staying at the CBR in January and I can hardly wait. We've been to Disney World twice together, and stayed at inexpensive hotels off-site. This will be a nice upgrade for us!

I'm so glad your Mom's surgery went well, still praying that she has a quick recovery.

Great Pics at Animal Kingdom, I like to see all the different animals. I really hope there is a great deal in the works and that it is still going on in May, That's most likely when we are going to be there.

Whew, I had a lot of catching up to do! I am all caught up now and enjoying all of the updates. Glad to hear your mom is doing well. :goodvibes Looking forward to more trip report! :)

Oh, I'm bummed...our trip is in June. I know that Disney discounting during the summer this year was unheard of, but I was still hoping....

Anyway - looks like you had fun at AK. I have to admit that we don't always have a lot of patience for that park because it's so darn HOT!! But I absolutely want to see FOTLK and Nemo this summer...maybe I'll even get to Everest, since we're going with so many folks that would love to mind the kiddos for us! I need to go during the winter one of these days so that I can really explore this park.

Thanks for the great update, and I hope your mom's still doing well!

Great AK updates Lisa. I love the walking trails...they are one of my favorite things to do at AK. It always surprises me how many people skip them!

Finally....some recognition for poor Lacey! What a good daddy to give them a little push!

I'm glad your mama came through surgery well. I'm sure that is very stressful for everyone.
