Veterans Day blockout

I just looked and found that Veterans Day is not blocked out for lower tier APs this year and am not happy about it. I’ll be down there and that day will have more locals in the parks.

Why would Disney not block out that date? Surely they expect higher crowds that day/week.

Likely because they don't expect big crowds on that day. It is a Tuesday this year vs last year when it was on a Monday making for a long weekend situation.

Veterans day is usually not crowded....

We have given that week for years, and more often than not it's not too busy.

Veteran’s Day isn’t a big holiday for locals. Unless you work in banking or for the government, it’s business as usual. I have worked many jobs here and never had one that included Veteran’s Day (even when I worked a job with ten paid holidays). So many locals work in some part of the hospitality industry that unless they already have Tuesdays off or use PTO they will be working.

I have an AP and will be on property that day but only for MVMCP, so a blackout would not have affected my attendance.

I work in the private sector (not in banking) and we have Veterans Day off as a holiday which is why I'm going that week. Also kids will likely be out of school that day so it seems attendance will increase. They seem to block every other holiday (even Columbus Day and Labor Day). for the lower level passes so I'm surprised they didn't do that this year.

I was there for Labor Day week and the crowds were some of the lowest I've seen in quite some time.

We don’t have Vet Day off in school around here (NJ), but all schools have the previous Thurs and Fri off for NJ Teacher Convention. Some NJ schools have Election Day off, others don’t.

NYC public schools all have Vet Day off.

We have school on both Veterans Day and Election Day. I don’t think I’ve ever had either off from work, either. Such days off vary widely around the country.

As a veteran I've always noted to who ever would listen how I never got veteran's day off. I know of no company, including the government who gives the day off.

Surely they don’t lol. Have you been on Veterans Day or are you just assuming? Veterans day does not surge attendance in and of itself. The crowds come when it coincides with parts of F&W Marathon or Jersey Week or makes an easy 3 day weekend- none of which will happen this year.

The majority of school districts across the country do not take Election Day as a holiday so the weird ones are actually those that do…

Our schools are closed in central Florida, but most businesses are open. We’ll be at a park. But Tuesday is our regular park day.
