The coach is really pushing her to far. Baby steps are needed to work through a fear of this type. Has she done it one the high beam with mats built up to the beam. That is how my dd likes to get new skills. They get the feeling of being on the high beam but if they fall it is just like being on the floor. Then when she is ready she removes mats until they are all gone. Well Good luck no matter waht happens.I hope she can work though it and the coach will become more responsive to the psychologist since she (the coach)seems to have given up.
You may have missed the long explanation earlier in this (long) thread. A year ago she was doing the BHS with no spot on the high beam with no problem. Then about 11 months ago she had a terrible fall. I didn't even know until a couple of months ago that she stopped doing the BHS on the beam after that. It really just came to my attention in December when the head coach announced that she would no longer coach the girls with "issues" like DD. For a few days she and a few others were given over to another coach whose "method" was telling them they would have to do 50 BHS on the beam every day until they could do it without fear. DD left every day in tears. Within a week, the head coach acknowledged that it was a big mistake to turn the girls over to that coach. DD wanted to quit gymnastics over this issue, but the coach talked her out of it. There. I think you're caught up.
