What’s up with Tower of Terror Wait times

I haven’t been back to Disney in a number of years but the last time I went the lines for Toy Story land and Galaxy’s Edge helped spread out the crowds. Tower of terror had lines but wasn’t too terrible. We managed to get in many rides on it in the fast pass days. I think we did five or six times in one day once.

Over the last month I’ve been checking the wait times in the app periodically and ToT seems to have the longest lines in the park. What’s going on? Did everyone finally catch on that it’s the best ride in Disney? Are they running it at a lower capacity?

You’re in the wrong section! Perhaps go to the Disney Theme Park Attractions thread?

I'm not sure but, for us, the one day we were at HS (12/13), ToT was down at early entry and through most of the day so, when it finally opened, it was a very long wait and so was the LLMP line. We never got to go since I wasn't able to get a LLMP for it later and we didn't want to wait in the line.

I've seen odd wait times over the last few weeks that just don't make sense to me. Guardians was the last one

It would be nice if Disney could dynamically adjust DAS return times when this happens.

Let’s say two parties decide they want to ride ToT - One has DAS and one does not.

Party A gets in the physical line at the same time as party B who has DAS requests a return time. Standby is posted at 60 minutes.

5 minutes later half of the ride goes down and the standby wait doubles (or more since LL still has to be accommodated).

Party A will wait much longer than party B because the DAS time wasn’t extended when the ride all of a sudden went to half capacity.

This is a great idea. Could change a DAS return time to an “estimated” wait time instead of actual, the same way standby works. It could even work in the other direction if the wait goes down.

Except one of the benefits of DAS is the predictability factor. For many who currently qualify, being able to predict how the experience will go (as much as possible) is a huge part of why it is necessary.

While this may help a few, it would greatly negatively affect many who do not have parties greater than 4. DAS does not expire so I would recommend those in line contact those with DAS when they are nearing the merge and have DAS enter the LL at that time. That would be a better way of trying to meet up at the merge without negatively affecting other DAS parties.

In my example the two groups are unrelated to each other, not a larger group that needs to meet up.

Ridiculous. There are so few DAS holders anymore the few who might get advantage in that very specific scenario aren’t going to make any difference to the normal line. (They will also return via the LL which will be longer than usual and moving slower as well.) To say nothing about the consequences of that much unpredictability for some of the needs being addressed.

The poster is claiming this is an unfair advantage for DAS users.
