Staying the night before off property..

We have been shopping for airline tickets and found leaving the night before saves us $500. So, we were thinking of booking a room around the airport the night before our offical Disney vacation starts.

Has anyone ever done this? If so, where did you stay? Did the hotel shuttle you?

Do you still get the Magical Express in the morning if you go back to the airport?

We don't want to book an extra night at Disney because that would be over $200 and we are spent.

I was going to ask the same question. We are flying in late Friday night instead of Sat morning because it is so much cheaper. We are staying at Orlando Airport Hyatt and picking up one other guest from her Sat morning flight.

So I was wondering how to arrange the ME if we aren't taking it until the following morning? Should I just say that we are on a JetBlue morning flight or call for arrangements?

Any suggestions?

Tagging onto this thread as we are also arriving on a later flight and staying at the Hyatt. Would like to use DME early the next morning.
Does anyone know what time DME starts running in the AM? This will be the first time we won't be renting a car.

Thanks!

we have done this before just pick a flight with an arrival time you want to be picked up. make sure you take your own luggage

So ME doesn't mind if you get on the bus with 4 suitcases to be packed down below the bus with everyone's carry-ons?

We've done this and had no problems and are doing it again on our Easter trip.

Last time, we stayed at a Spring Hill Suites near the airport, this time, we'll be at a Hampton I think. We are getting in around 1030pm, so we'll just sleep overnight, then wake up bright and early and catch DME :cool1:.

I gave them the first flight in in the morning.

Okay...I just called Disney to find out the deal. I gave them our flight info from the night before and she put it in without the flight number. That way, we can bring our luggage with us and get on the bus.

So because we are checking into a Disney hotel on the Saturday, we have a ressie on the bus on Saturday, at least i hope so.

So it sounds like Disney doesn't care when you take the bus as long as you have a ressie at a Disney hotel.

Hope this helps...:thumbsup2

As long as you are staying at an onsite Disney hotel, you can make ressies for ME. We did this in Sept, staying Friday night in 2 rooms at the airport Hyatt. I had given a late morning flight number for Saturday since that is when I wanted to take ME.

Each of us had a checked piece of luggage as well as a carry-on with the basics for overnight and the next day in case our luggage did not arrive. Our luggage did not arrive that night and came in on the next flight in the morning. They called us to ask if we wanted the luggage delivered to our room at the Hyatt and we said we would come get it on our way to ME. I happened to have the ME luggage tags with me and the luggage handlers suggested that they tag the luggage and take care of it from there. It was sent to our room at BCV via ME. I thought that was GREAT service!

Flew into MCO late night flight, we used Hotwire and for 70 got Hyatt right in airport. The BEST thing we ever did. Somewhere on the dis is a thread to show you How/which hotel to bid on to try and "get" hyatt as hotwire does not show hotel name before paying and there is no refund. We did it and it worked great, I was up at dawn (I was so excited to start fresh and new that morn, LOL) and off to ME ...wonderful. We were off to a park by morning...:lovestruc
As far as Hotwire goes, it was easy and they also have loads of hotels WITH shuttles so even if OFF mco proprty they get you back to mco to jump on ME.
Hyatt by the way goes for over 200/nite and is worth every penny IMHO, we use them in other locales as well....I am thinking I may have even read about bidding on cruisecritic as well, under the section about transportation/southeast cruise departures or soemthing...hope this helped a drop.
Good Luck!!! Have a wondnerful trip.

We did this for our last trip but we were staying at an off-site timeshare. The Friday night flight was cheaper and it gave us an extra day at the parks! We stayed at the Windham hotel near the airport.

This year we're going down on Friday night as well but staying at a friend's mother's condo- Free :cool1: More money to spend at Disney!

We stayed at the MCO Hyatt the night before once and the Hyatt arranges for your luggage to be taken in the night if you would like. We did this with no problem.
