I have several Mickey Head templates to create magnets and I'm curious what size to print out for best use on the stateroom door. Should I apply 2 templates per 8.5x11 sheet? What is everyone's recommendation for magnet application:

1. Card stock with magnetic tape strips on back
2. Card stock laminated with magnetic tape strips on back
3. Paper laminated with magnetic tape strips on back
3. Magnetic paper printouts

Thank you for any advice.

I do one Mickey ear per page and print them on good photo paper and put magnetic tape on them

I had some designed and am planning on printing them on thicker paper or cardstock, then laminating them, then adding the magnets to the back. That way they can be reused and are less likely to bend/crinkle while I transport them.

I can't help with size but we did ours on photo paper, then laminated and added magnet strips. We have several that we change out everyday and have used them for the last 3 cruises. We just keep them in a ziplock bag and they're always in the plastic cruise bin in our closet, ready for the next cruise!

I do cardstock with magnetic tape. I've used them for several years and they're still fine. You can laminate, but I don't think you HAVE too. I think I did one total magnet per 8.5x11 sheet. Like Mickey in a pirate hat took up the entire sheet. I think the DISigners usually state how to print them out. You can usually find instructions online and then make up stuff yourself.

Thank you for all the replies. I am assuming the strips work just as well as printing them out on the magnetic sheets? And the strips seems like a much cheaper option. Thanks again for the replies

The strips are much cheaper than the magnetic material to print on. We sell it for !.99 for 30 inches or $8.00 for 26 feet in a dispenser. Both less than what the printable magnetic material would cost.

We were on the Wonder and the paint was so thick on the doors, the magnet sheets and magnet strips and paper did not hold. They slid down to the ground or fell off every time the door closed.

I printed all of ours on cardstock (at Staples) and then laminated and used neodymium rare earth magnets. All 30+ DIY ones worked. All the ones we were gifted with strip magnets or paper sheets fell off.

I have only had luck with using magnet printer paper. The magnetic strips from the craft store didn't work on the dream last year & I had about 10 strips on my item. The magnet paper has worked on the other ships & the dream.

You all talked us into Magnets for our stateroom door. I will have a few dozen of our favorite cruise pictures up on the Sept 10th Fantasy cruise this year.
