Star Wars Opening Weekend...Was the force with us?

If you spent $260.00 all in one little TR entry, I am SCREWED!! Better start reallly really really saving now! Darn you for teasing me with Jack stuff.. I actually skipped over it to.. can;'t say I won't get back in a moment of weakness though lol

I hope they have more NMBC ornaments in SEPT.!

We last left off after a rainy day at DHS. DB and I both zonked when we got back to POP but we were up and ready to roll the next morning….well, almost ready to roll. It apears that DB has to have his coffee in the morning. Who knew?

Oh, me too! MUST. HAVE. COFFEE. lol

Here is DH and I ... I have on what my DB calls my "bug glasses." Nice, eh? They are prescription and I need to get as much coverage as I can but I have to say, he's right. If I can afford it, I'm gettin' new ones before our next trip!

I like your sunglasses - you look like a celebrity in disguise!

DisneyMay2009579.jpg

What a great picture! :thumbsup2

We planned on a simple breakfast at MickeyD’s (like the Disney reference…lol). DB found this guy while we wer walking over and ordered himself and DH and froo-froo coffee as I call them.

DisneyMay2009590.jpg

DisneyMay2009580.jpg

I  froofroo coffee - Starbuck's rocks!

Not a girlie coffee but one of those jobbies with a long name…tall, mocha, grande, who the heck knows what they were?

Since Mickey D's was packed we had to pick somewhere else for breakfast. So, where did we go? Earl of course!

DisneyMay2009601.jpg

DisneyMay2009599.jpg

We loved Earl's breaky sammies - delish!

Crappy picture of DH, but here it is anyway.

DisneyMay2009600.jpg

He's a handsome dude!

We saw this thing in the air and as much as I want to try it, I am scared to death!

DisneyMay2009598.jpg

Me too :scared1:

After Earl we began our shopping adventure. I think we started at the Christmas store since it’s petty close to Earl. Our niece is graduating this year so DH ordered her a mouse ear graduation cap. We had to leave it so that it could be embroidered. I saw this cool stuff in the back part of the store.

Jenn, close your eyes if you don’t want to see the Jack stuff!!

DisneyMay2009607.jpg

Cool stuff!

I didn’t buy as much as I normally do because I was bummed out. They had only two different box set ornaments! I could not believe it. Since our tree is 100% Disney I normally go nuts in that store and we end up at UPS to get it all home. I got a Tink ornament and a Lenox Mickey and that was it! I’m telling you, I wanted to cry. I had planned to add to some of the stuff I already had and last year told myself, oh I will get it next time. Yeah, don’t do that people. It’s not there “next time!” I also managed to get a Mickey flag for outside. I have not put it up yet but when I do, I will take a picture and post it. It is a red/white/blue patriotic flag.

I wanted to go in here, but we didn't.........

DisneyMay2009608.jpg

Is that a scrapbooking store?

DisneyMay2009609.jpg

We saw this guy and I have no clue if he was hurt of what. I felt bad though.

:sad1:

DisneyMay2009594.jpg

From there we went to Team Mickey. DB got a Browns helmet. I got my sister’s boyfriend an ESPN shirt. DH engaged other customers in Steeler’s talk while we were there too! Gotta love it!

You know, I kind of wish we cared about any of our sports teams, but we don't

Next up was World of Disney.

DisneyMay2009583.jpg

Check out my dorky glasses....up close this time. HA HA And as you can see it was so frickin hot already that my dang bangs were glued to my forehead. I have TERRIBLE hair in FLA...just God awful!!!!!!

DisneyMay2009586.jpg

Come on, you look lovely!

I zipped out my shopping list and set off on my mission. I found just about everything that I was looking for except for my sister’s bathing suit cover up. I was holding out for the 10% AP discount at WoD but I ended up not being able to get it there. Mom wanted fridge clips like ones we saw last year but of course, no go. Didn’t have them! I had to get what they did have. I also got her a pad of paper for the fridge that was made from recycled materials. Speaking of recyled, I never did see my purse people! Yeah this one!!!!!!!!

Recycle2009.jpg

That's really cute! Couldn't you order it online instead?

I am totally pi**ed that I could not find this purse! I hope that they have it in Septemer because I HAVE to have it. I didn't get the bag I wanted either. Ugh.........

Next up. Where did we eat? Was the food good? Did we get rained on? What’s up with the CM at the American Adventure? Did we stay for Illuminations?????

Stay tuned……

I hope the food was great! I hope you did not get rained on! I don't know on the last two! LOL

Great update! I tend to go a little crazy when shopping in Disney too. For a couple of trips I was good and only got a couple pins...yeah, that didn't last long.

The hot air balloon sounds so cool! I really want to try that.

I know it! It is so dang easy to do and that was NOT finding what I wanted at the Christmas store. Last year we had to make a special trip to UPS and ship not one but TWO fricken boxes home!

I warned ya about the Jack stuff. :rolleyes1 Glad you skipped over it but you know what, at the rate they are going who the heck knows what will be there in September! :confused3

I hope the food was great! I hope you did not get rained on! I don't know on the last two! LOL

 You will see soon enough! I am not a coffee person, more of a tea lover. I was so surprised that my brother was like that with coffee. I have to say I have not seen that side of him before. I thought it was sorta funny! I am totally determined to get new prescription sunglasses. Once I hit 40 my eyes went to sh** as they say. I have three pair of sunglasses that are not prescription and I so wish that I could change the lenses but 2 are Maui Jim's and I can't and the others are Arnette's and so far I can't change those either. :sad2: I am so mad about that! My brother kept telling me I looked like an ant!

I never went pin crazy until about 3 years ago and then I don't know what happened to me but it was all over. I think between DH and I we probably have a few hundred of them. Sad, isn't it? :scared: I have them crammed into one of those book thingys that they sell and I have a bag full of them with no where to put them. I think we are going to get another book. I'd like to get a glassed in frame type thing and put them in there and then display them in our hallway but we live in a house as big as a shoe box so that won't work either. :rolleyes1 All kidding aside, you can only do so much with 1200 square feet! :rotfl:

As much as I want to try the balloon, I am scared to death. I know that my mom won't do it! She won't even let us on ferris wheels! She's got a thing with us and ever since we were kids she told us we are not allowed on them under any circumstances. I think she thinks they will roll away or something. :lmao:

star wars weekend meets the dismeet that would have been cool.. next year we are going so i will plan something when it gets closer

Your glasses aren't dorky!! I LOVEEEEEE big sunglasses!!! My mom laughs at me because I wear them but apparently used to make fun of her when I saw her wearing the huge glasses in old photos! Oh well, I love them now! Your day in DTD sounds like fun! We didn't go on this trip so I really liked seeing your pictures and hearing about it!

I love them too but apparently on me......I look ridiculous! I wore huge glasses back when I was younger too and it seems that all the old stuff is coming back. Some of it is pretty awesome and some, well.......:scared1::scared1: I think my glasses fall into the :scared1::scared1: category for me.:laughing:

Those sandwiches look good. I've never eaten there. I'm gonna have to try it.

I love the Jack/NBC stuff. The black adult hoodies and the kids ones are in the local outlet (the one with the Disney park merch) for 12.99 each! I might have to get the kids one. I want one too but I'm losing some weight and who knows what size I'll need by the time it's cold again. Hopefully a medium, :goodvibes.

Girl...there's nothing wrong with your sunglasses. I like 'em. I used to wear this oogly pair but I loved them because they were polarized. I have to have polarized glasses. Sam's has some really nice ones in the eyeglasses department...and they're cheap!

After we left DTD we headed back to POP again. We had an ADR at Chefs de France at 2 p.m. I think we left the resort around 12:30 or so. We parked in the handicap section. I could tell that DH was miserable just by the way he was walking. I felt so bad. I was the only one with a bag and apparently the security guy checking my bag was a Steeler's fan. He told me that it was the "best looking bag he'd seen all day." He then went on to tell me that he had ordered a Steeler's license plate tag, etc. There was no one else in line and all I could think about was being late for our ADR but hey, I stopped to chat anyway!

We decided to try and get over there as quickly as possible so we took the boat. One problem...only one boat was running! We met some really sweet seniors that had AP's and were FLA residents so they gave us their take on everything Disney. I just hope when DH and I are their age that we can still get around Disney as well. They appeared to be in their late 70's or maybe even 80. Great people!

Once we got over we made a dash for Chef's. I was TOTALLY bummed because there wasn't enough time for me to meet this guy. My all time favorite. I was like a little kid and had to keep myself from having a freaking temper tantrum because in all my trips......not ONE picture with him! No one people!!! There is NO WAY I will miss out in September...noooooooo waaaaaaaaayyyy

DisneyMay2009629.jpg

Since we could not stop we just went ahead and checked in for our ADR.

DisneyMay2009649.jpg

Our server was Kevin and I thought he was just awesome. I asked him if I could keep my menu and said yes. He signed it for me.......in French of course!

DisneyMay2009632.jpg

DisneyMay2009633.jpg

I had the veggie lasagna.

DisneyMay2009642.jpg

For the life of me I can't recall what exactly my DB had, but here it is>

DisneyMay2009641.jpg

DH had the ham and cheese and he had a difficult time explaining the deliciousness of it! He said it was awesome!

DisneyMay2009640.jpg

As we were enjoying our meals the chef came around for a visit and to see how everything was.

DisneyMay2009635.jpg

DisneyMay2009636.jpg

DisneyMay2009638.jpg

We decided the share dessert. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!

DisneyMay2009643.jpg

I have to say, this was INCREDIBLE. I have never seen anything like this. We were not allowed to touch him but holy crap people, Remy was so "real" it was amazing! I am so glad that we had the chance to see him. I understand he is only there at lunch time and is not due to be there permanently. Totally worth it just for Remy and it was an absolute bonus that the food was incredible too! I want to go back SO BAD!

After lunch was over we decided to continue to make our way around WS.

We did not stop in Morocco....I know, I know......why not? Dunno. We just didn't,

Next up was Japan. I was determined to see Miyuko (I think that's here name) the candy lady. She was due out in around 15 minutes so I grabbed my spot while the guys went to see the drummers. All I can say is that she is amazing! She made about 5 or 6 animals for people. It was incredible to sit and watch her. I am so glad that I finally had the chance to do so.

DisneyMay2009702.jpg

DisneyMay2009686.jpg

We did a little browsing in the store and then moved along to The American Adventure. The Voices of Liberty were on their last song and people were lining up to see the show. DH and I get teary eyed when we see this show. I know ...... kinda lame. I think it is an awesome tribute to America. I love the show. As we were leaving and making our way to the exit...you guessed it ......here comes the freaking rain. Again, it was rain like you've never seen before. We had our ponchos so yes, we didn't need to spend another $26 bucks. Woo Hoo. We all decided to just sit down and hang out in the huge area before the exits. Tons of people were doing that. About 5 minutes later a CM came and shoo'd us out! Very UN-AMERICAN! I could not believe it. She forced us all out in the rain! I get why and all since I am sure another show was about to end but come ON, the place is freaking HUGE... they could have let people stay under cover! So there were were, headed out into the RAIN! Ugh, it was AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!! Mean CM that she was...she was probably snickering to herself as all these people were getting soaked!

DisneyMay2009723.jpg

Next up was Italy. People were running for cover and trying to stay dry. I don't have many pictures to share because we wanted to keep the camera covered. We did do some browsing while waiting for the rain to become "reasonable" so that we could move on.

Next up was German. Man, do I love that place! I got DH 2 stein's last year for our anniversary and wouldn't you know it, he went right over to them. And Di, the first thing he picked up was the stein that Grumpy got. LOL. I was laughing to myself when I saw him do that.

DisneyMay2009745.jpg

I got another Steif for my collection. They are so cute. DH got a sticker for his car since the last one was on the SUV that he totaled and he really wanted a replacement. I also selected my next cuckoo clock. Lame picture though but here it is anyway.

DisneyMay2009743.jpg

As we were passing the Outpost on our way to China, DH was asking me "why is this here and what is it?" I realized.....I have no CLUE!

We went into the shops in China to browse. I got myself soup spoons which I have always wanted. They are all different of course and when we go back I plan to get bowls too. DH and DB got these dragon thingy's...both would kill me if they knew I could not remember what they were....wait, maybe they were foo something or others....anywhooo, they got those too before we moved along. DH also got some funky drink and some candy as well. Now that I think about it, maybe the drink he got was from Japan. Sheesh, it is hard to remember!

We then made our way to Norway or as DH calls it, the land of the beautiful people. We are convinced that all of the beautiful people live there because frankly, did you ever see anyone there that wasn't just gorgeous? What's up with that???

We were ready for a snack so of course, where did we go.........yeah, Kringla. And also, it turned out to be more than a snack too! Gotta love school bread. DH and I split one. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!

Here is what we got.

DisneyMay2009750.jpg

DisneyMay2009753.jpg

DB got this

DisneyMay2009755.jpg

The line for Maelstrom was out the door and the wait was over 30 minutes! I have never seen it like that so we decided to pass this time. However, not before taking this picture! Hey mom, what do you think? Mom's lurking here and reading my TR. Hee hee......

DisneyMay2009756.jpg

We also stopped at the clothing store and you guessed it....here comes the rain again. I almost got a raincoat like the ones they wear on Deadliest Catch. They had them on sale for $107 and frankly I am kicking myself for not getting it seeing it was such a deal. I could not however justify the cost of the flip flops. I don't recall the exact price...just that they were OUTRAGEOUS!

We left Norway but decided not to stop in Mexico. Don't know why but we did not. We wanted to grab a seat for Illuminations so we decided to keep going and make our way to the other side and hit Canada and the UK. By then FW had closed and the masses were moving over to WS. Sheesh!

First stop was Canada. We just really took a quick look around because it seemed like we needed to grab our spot with the masses entering WS.

We then went to the UK and browsed the shops. DH went to peek inside Rose and Crown. It was packed. I don't mean crowded...I mean packed...to the gills. So I didn't get to go in and see if I could find Eddie. Aloha suggested checking him out... hee hee.

We found our spot on the International Gateway bridge and all was great...for a while. DB asked a security guard where she thought was the best spot and we were able to have quite a nice conversation with her. I may have mentioned previously that DB was determined to ask someone if the MoPo as we call the Mouse Patrol or Mouse Police, had mouse ears on their handcuffs. LOL. I can't remember who he asked...but eventually he did and they told him yes. Ha ha!

It began to get darker when you guessed it........here comes the rain. Nice. We all zipped out the ponchos again and put them on. But then people were really coming in and lining up behind us. Lucky me I had these morons behind me that were determined to squeeze in 5 minutes before the show. They SHOVED their stroller into the backs of my legs. I could not move. I was literally stuck there and the rain was rolling off the edge of their stroller, down my legs, and into my shoes. I had no where to go and basically, they spent the entire time banging that frickin thing into the back of my legs. I was so dang mad I couldn't stand it.

DisneyMay2009774.jpg

DisneyMay2009786.jpg

DisneyMay2009819.jpg

DisneyMay2009820.jpg

We made our way out of the park immediately after Illuminations because we had to get back to DTD to get our embroidered hat! Not to mention, I wanted something sweet so I went into Goofy's as well.

DisneyMay2009837.jpg

Once we got to DTD, DB and DH went to the Christmas store and I took one last spin through WoD since it was our last night. I felt like I was just getting into the vacation groove and it was winding down way too soon.

I also wanted to go to Goofy's for my caramel apple with nuts which I get EVERY SINGLE TRIP to bring home. Yummy. I also decided on three chocolate covered pretzels as well.

It was getting late so we made our way back to POP to crash. I of course wanted to pack since we had an early ADR the next day at Tusker.

Next up is DAK. Was it fun? Did we stay there all day? How was Tusker?

Stay Tuned.............

DH and DB really enjoyed their sammies! You should try it next trip. :wizard:

The Jack stuff was really cute. Seems like they had a lot more this time. What do you think? Was it just me? I wish we had a local outlet store! I'd go nuts. And I'm right there with ya on the losing weight. I have been trying to as well! Good luck with that! :goodvibes

I have prescription glasses that are polarized too. That was the problem. They only had a few styles that I could get with my script and polarized so there you have it....ant glasses for me.:laughing: I wish I could wear some of the Maui Jim's that I have but I can't see two feet in front of me.:lmao:

i have never eaten at france it looks great next time i might try it

Yay! Good update. A few things -

We ate at Chefs too and I thought the same thing about Remy! OMG!

Also, umm what is Voices of Liberty? I feel like I should know but I don't!

And what is with everyone putting their feet in fountains?!

ITA w/you about Norway people!! What the heck!?!

Don't worry, Eddie was on a cruise anyways. He leaves for Ireland in July :( I'm kind of glad he wasn't there because it was crowded when we went too which means no quality time with Eddie and then I'd have to share him!! LOL!!!

I HATE STROLLER SHOVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it's lame if you get teary eyed during the American Adventure show. I've done that once or twice myself...

That little Remy is too cute.

awe, i wanna see remy :( I also want to tr that deliscous food! I really hope it doesnt rain like this in sept :(

I think i need to take a pic of jack and kayla wit t the viking hat!!

Excellent update! I can't tell you how much dh and I are looking forward to trying Chefs de France in September :cloud9: I'm sad Remy will be gone after Sept. 5th - my boys would have LOVED to "meet" him :sad2: Thanks for the idea about asking to keep the menu - I'm SO going to do that!

I'm sorry you had that moron behind you during the fireworks - I would've said something to her

Miyuki is awesome, but I highly doubt my boys would be calm enough while waiting for her for her to pick them (I've heard several times that she only chooses "calm, quiet" children to make the treats for - calm and/or quiet just isn't gonna happen for my boys in WDW :rotfl:

Great Viking picture LOL! Gee, why didn't you hang out in the Canada pavilion? It's SO authentically Canadian, after all :headache: I will say that the Martin Short movie is pretty good though!

The cuckoo clock you chose is so pretty! :goodvibes

The Voices of Liberty is the singing group that sings inside the American pavilion. They are really good actually.

I didn't even notice the feet in the fountain but it was really freaking hot that day, don't you think?

LOL about Eddie. Sorry we missed him though. :(

And OMG on the stroller people. They were wicked and frankly extraordinarily rude!

Can't help it in American Adventure. Happens every time!:sad2:

That freaking hat was so cute. I loved it.

I really want to try and work in Chefs for September. And I too hope we do not see the insane rain that we had over Memorial Day when we are there in September. It was terrible. :rolleyes1

I think that you will enjoy Chefs. We certainly did! Can't say enough about Remy and I really wonder what it would take for him to be permanent?

The morons behind us were too much. I mean, they showed up 10 minutes before Illuminations and we were there around an HOUR. They had attitudes like they EXPECTED us to squish together even more than we were so that they could get their stroller in! :scared1: I was totally pi**ed about that!

Miyuki was incredible to watch. She seemed to choose children that were right up front and in one case, she picked a girl who was probably in her late teens. Fun to watch though.

We should have gone to the Canadian pavilion. Normally we do. I do work for a French Canadian company so every time I hear "Canada" I tend to think of work however from what I have seen in pictures, it's spectacular. What a beautiful place.

I have one clock already and hope to add a second to my collection however it's more important to me right now to surprise DH with a Wishes Cruise and if I can swing it there is a watch that he wants in Germany. Don't know if I can but that comes first!

I really want to share this with all of you. My lurker DB has been checking out my TR. :rolleyes1 Given the amount of rain I did not zip out my little notebook to take notes throughout the day like I normally do so apparently I forgot a few details. Check this out.............

I have read your latest update...you forgot a few things.

I'll go backwards from the last post. You didn't mention the soups which were awesome. The lobster bisque was tasty and while i'm not a fan of french onion Joe liked it a lot. The sandwich that I had was Mahi Mahi with roasted red and green peppers served with fries. Very filling although I was thinking about the ham and cheese cause it looked good.

The drink and candy were from Japan and I bought the candy. I also bought a drink and he wanted to know where i got it from. The "funky" drink you might be thinking about was the soda I brought back with me to the room that had the marble in it that actually carbonated the drink. Either that or it was the melon stuff he bought from that stand.

The candy lady got on my nerves a bit..she kept saying "candy...candy..making candy for you...candy, candy"

FOO DOGS! dragon thingys....pfeh

Thanks for publishing that picture of me with the blonde pigtails...now my secret life as a budding Opera star is known to everyone! lol

You should have told me about those people..they bumped me once too but I kind of shot them a look and they apologized and moved the stroller back. I also would have switched places with you. Also it's your vacation too so if you wanted to get your picture taken with some dude in a furry costume go for it...I wouldn't have minded.

So by the way, I am Moses McGyver. :rotfl2::lmao:
