Star Wars Opening Weekend...Was the force with us?

Wow, what a bummer about all those let downs :( I am sad you didn't like POP. We may still give it a try at another time, during less busy period of course! Glad the room was clean though! GREAT pics!

Awe... I'm sad you didn't like it!

You & I are going to get along amazing b/c I LOVE the 50s too!

I never got to stay at POP but I really wanted to. Last time I stayed on Dis property we tried to stay there but they were full :sad1:

We ended up at As Sports which I liked. We were honestly not in our room long though. I don't think I would have liked staying there for a full week but it was nice for the night.

As for the food... My vote goes to you loving it only because I had one of my best Dis meals ever in their food court.

When I went in Dec to visit my CM lifeguard friend she was working @ POP so I met up with her there. I had like 2 hours to kill before she got off work so I wandered around Pop & got food. They this veggie thing that was quite possibly the best food I've had in Dis. I'm prolly going to hit up POP in September to get it for a QS meal.

I'm loving your TR! It's making me even more excited... If that's possible. :mickeyjump:

Veggie calzone!

I just looked it up & that's what I had there.

....man... I want one now...

After chillaxin' we headed over to Everything Pop and checked out the store. I have to say, they do have a great selection in there.

The guys were hungry and I was determined to find something light since I had the pulled pork for lunch. I was trying my best to maintain some sort of a diet! I had hummus and pita chips. Both were very good actually. The chips were so good that I bought some to bring home with me. The guys got burgers. There were plenty of places to sit and of course, I fed my napkin habit. DH laughs because I collect a load of those babies and bring them home and take them to work. I tend to grab a zillion of those babies at a time. DH says that if I get much worse they will need their own suitcsae. They make me smile when I have them at work and use them when I'm having a crappy day. They make my day a bit more "magical."

Here are more food pics......

After we ate, back in the car we went. DB and I took turns on who got to sit in the front. You'd have thought we were 12 or something.

Any more guesses on the car? The answer will be revealed at the end of this TR. lol

MK parking was pretty full. I remember we were in row 111 which I think is Grumpy. We do not do handicap parking at MK because you end up walking further when you do. I think we got there around 7. MK was open around midnight I think.

We took the tram and hopped on the monorail....please stand clear of the doors...por favor.......oh, sorry...............

As soon as we got off of the monorail I felt rain. Of course, what else? I was the only one with a bag so I headed to bag check and sent DH to get ponchos becaus the zillion that I brought were back in the room.....nice, eh? DB had to use restroom so he went off to the restroom near City Hall. No magical first glance at the castle for him! By the time I got to the store next to guest relations it was POURING. It wasn't raining it was frickin POURING! DH and I got to the train station and went inside hoping that DB would be there. He was not so DH sent him a a text. We got a glimpse of him standing near City Hall. We had his poncho so DH and I made a run for it. Check this out.

I was kind of bummed that DB didn't get his first castle glimps and the goose bumps that almost immediately follow. Booo..........

The rain went on for at least 1/2 an hour or so. DH got the idea to make a run for the Emporium and then come out the other side by Casey's and see how far into the park we could go before getting wet. Once we got to the other side near the baby station (by CP) we found a seat and waited for the rain to stop. We started chatting with a family that was actually making their way out of the park. There were at least three generations maybe four. Gramma was having herself a good old time. She sat there in here wheelchair with what appeared to be airline bottles of booze. :scared1::laughing: Yeah, she had it going on alright! There were three very adorable children. The dad was putting them under one poncho and trying to get them to walk side by side out of the park. Forget that, they didn't make it three feet! Very cute though. It was nice to pass the time and get to talk to them. Very nice people and most people were crabby because of the weather so it was a true joy.

Once the rain stopped or got to the point of being able to walk through, we went over to PotC. Everyone was in the right lane so I got into the left. Woo Hoo........ We got all the way to the front of the line. There were only 4 other people in the boat and we took the third row. Yay me! I just love that ride. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me......ooops, sorry...started singing again. :rolleyes1

I did not take many pictures until much later in the evening. I was really scared of ruining the camera.

After PotC we went over to DH's favorite ride, HM. We were going to do Splash and BTMRR but we decided to wait and do that in the day time. I love BTMRR at night though. My first time on in the dark was with Kayla (Jenn's daughter) and my nephew Matt last year. Loved it! The wait for HM said 20 minutes but I think we waited maybe 5 at the most. Nearly walked right in. I rode with DH and DB rode alone.

Next we made our way to Fantasyland. I was worried about the time because Spectro was to be at 8 but I had heard that they were on a delay. Didn't know how long, but a delay. We passed Peter Pan. What is it with that ride? The line was like forever long so we passed.

We went into iaswaa which I love.

By the way........I am issuing an Amber Alert for the Greek kid. He was missing people.....missing!

I truly can't get enough of this attraction. I could probably sit through it 10 times and still want to see more. :3dglasses

So, where did we go from here? Did we see Spectro? Wishes? Second Spectro? Did it rain more?

Stay tuned! :wizard:

WEIRD! I've definitely only been on the gangster side and didn't even know there was another option!! Western sounds more fun. I can't believe you didn't like Pop! Even me, a spoiled deluxe girl, loved it. It was good people watching, loved the music, clean grounds, clean room, pretty decent food court. I did NOT like All Star Sports but it is the only one I have stayed at out of those. I wanted 70's and they were full, you wanted 50's and they were full! We totally should've switched!! 50's are okay, 60's stuff just creeps me out so I requested the 70's b/c I for some reason am fascinated by that decade!!! I hope your trip got better!

The Western side is usually more fun in my opinion. I like it better but this chick was lame. You are right. Pop was good people watching. The music was nice, the grounds were very clean and the food court wasn't bad. I have only stayed at All Star Movies in a preferred room and really it wasn't bad at all aside from the filthy room but I cleaned it myself and was happy. We should have switched! You got preferred though didn't you? I was a teen in the 70's so for me I "lived it." DH was born in 71.:rolleyes1 Yeah, I married a young one. Stay with me and you'll find out how the rest of the trip went!!! :surfweb:

Wow, what a bummer about all those let downs :( I am sad you didn't like POP. We may still give it a try at another time, during less busy period of course! Glad the room was clean though! GREAT pics!

You know the more I think about it, we were at Disney and I needed to suck it up and deal with it! :guilty: I realize that I have become spoiled with all my deluxe stays and such and that's just not a good thing. :sad2: I'm willing to try again but I definitely want the 50's! If there was a way that I could guarantee it...I'd do it in a flash. Joe on the other hand needs convincing. :mic::chat: Glad you like the pics!!

By the way, we passed CS and I am so looking forward to our stay there! In a way I wished we had more time so that I could sneak a peek but I want to be surprised!

Awe... I'm sad you didn't like it!

Gotta love the 50's. I don't know why, but I do. :lovestruc

We've never stayed at All Star Sports but I'm not a huge sports fan so if we go back, it will be to movies. :wizard:

I didn't see the veggie calzone on the menu. I probably would have gotten that too. Hmm, wonder how I missed it.

Glad you are enjoying my TR!

Can't wait to meet you in September!

Chevy Malibu

love the pics!

woohoo!!!:jumping1:

(DH wants me to be sure to tell you we don't have a Malibu; we just rented one once:rotfl: )

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's too funny. DH and I both drive SUV's so I felt like I was in a clown car for the first day or so. :lmao: DH and DB are both tall and had a hard time getting out of the thing! And it's a FULL SIZED car! How funny is that?

I was SOOO excited that Kayla lovedd btmmr last year! I was so proud too! lol. Uhm and the big deal about peter pan, is uhm, it's peter pan, that and snow white are 2 of my favs.. up there with hm and potc! Last year was my first time with Philharmagic and I lovedd it! Can not wait to go back! Thanks for a 2nd update!

Jenn suggested a title change. Smart thinkin girlie!!!

Thanks!

Your welcome! I think it will attract more people who have no idea what "was the force with us" means..like people who lives under a rock..like me.. yeah I have never seen star wars:scared1:

in response to the other reply, I ONLY want the 50's section at POP if we ever do go. I also loved asmu and asmo so I could always go back there too lol!

We left off exiting Philharmagic. Get this, they were right in the middle of Wishes! Dang it! Here are my crappy a** pictures. I was literally right outside the exit of Philharmagic when I zipped out the camera and started a-snapin'

DisneyMay2009263.jpg

DisneyMay2009268.jpg

Yeah, that's all you're gettin... :headache: Sucks, doesn't it?

After I got depressed that I missed it we moved along to Snow White. I tried to take pics in there but they came out terrible.

I wanted to see if we could get on Pooh before Spectro but it was packed. It said 10 mintues but experience tells me that was a 40 minute line! :lmao:

By this time my OCD self was paranoid that we would not get a good seat for Spectro. I have no clue if the first one ran or what but there was no way I was gonna miss the second one. DH was exhausted and walking kinda funny which told me that his back must have been killing him but he still agreed to stay. :cloud9: We were coming from around the castle (on the pooh side) and got to the hub when a CM put the post into the ground. She said that this was a perfect viewing spot so we camped out there.

I got out my camera and started fiddling with it to check out the settings for the parade. Here are a few test shots.

COntinued on next post..........

Of course, 10 minutes before the start this family decided to take the spot. DH and DB had gone to hang out by the railing and actually lost their spots to this family. Then, some lady just HAD to get to the cart in the middle of the street and slammed into a puddle and got water all over the little girl that was sitting next to me. :confused3 People are so stupid sometimes. DH and I both took Spectro pictures so these are combined from both cameras and I am sure that they are not in the correct order so forgive me.

Spectro ended around 11:45 or so. We headed to the car since we had a 7:30 ADR the next morning. We got back to the room around 12:45 and we were all exhausted!

Next up.....did we make our 7:45 ADR at Kona? Did anyone get Tonga Toast? Where did we go after breakfast? Did it rain on us again? Stay tuned........

She had a blast on BTMRR! I could hear Kayla and Matt laughing their butts off! Yeah, I know it's Peter Pan but sheesh.........I have NEVER seen anything like it! The lines are always incredible!

OMG, you have NEVER seen ANY of the Star Wars movies???? Holy Crap! :scared1::scared1::scared1: You gotta rent them!

Hi Amy,

:welcome: Welcome to my TR!

It was POURING so hard it was unreal! Did you do any parks over the weekend?

I love Philharmagic too!! I really don't understand why PP is always a 60 minute wait. Seriously?! I love the ride but not that much. That downpour was crazy. Luckily at that point we had wandered into R&C in search of Eddie so we were out of the rain. I can't believe you take the napkins - that is hilarious and a great idea!!

I am holding out on the star wars things.. i'm assuming at some point someone is going to get Jack the boxed set, since I am an awful mom and refuse to. At that point, I will cave and watch them. so :snooty: (but shhhhh.. don't tell joe i just said all that!)

anywho, loved the spectro pictures.

when we went to disney in 2005, i didnt do a whole lot of "good" research. i knew what rides i thought looked cool, but i had no real clue about food, or parades or shows and fireworks.. frankly, i didn't care. I was just happy to be in wdw. but i remember our first night was in Mk and around 5 we wandered up to CRT and asked if they had any seat available, and we were seated right away!!! (God, could you imagine doing that now lol) During dinner, we were able to see wishes from our awesome window seat! I was ELATED! After dinner, we wandered to the front of th castle and were just putzing around when I noticed people starting to sit. I asked a CM what was going on and she said the last parade of the night.

I figured, we better sit and get this awesome spot directly in front of th castle. We did, and the parade winded up being Spectro.. which I did not know was Spectro until recently. I cried like a lilttle baby during it. I thought it was the most beautiful parade! We missed it last September, cause again, stupid me didn't look into that all that much. NO WAY am I missing it this year!! Especially after seeing your pics. Brought back so many memories:goodvibes

Joe did try and go into R&C. OMG, it was packed. Could barely walk in so I didn't get to look for Eddie. :confused3

Yep, me, the napkin queen. When people come into my office upset I zip out the napkins for them to dry their tears.

I still can't get over that you have not seen any of the Star Wars movies. :rolleyes1 I'm sure that you will some day though.

I love Spectro. We missed it last year too which is why this year there is NO WAY we will miss it. Once we finally get the freaking park hours I will zip out my handy dandy itinerary cards and the times will be noted so we CAN'T MISS IT AGAIN!!!!!!! I think I figured out what camera setting to use so I'm in business now....and for MNSSHP parade too.

I can't even imagine just doing a walk up at CRT and getting to see Wishes from there. Talk about luck!

I'm glad the pics brought back memories for ya!
