Star Wars Opening Weekend...Was the force with us?

Oh my gosh, thank you for those pictures of the Star Wars merchandise!! Clearly I will need to triple our souvenir budget just to satisfy DH and DS1 and their Star Wars obsession!

And LMAO at the Amber alert for the Greek kid, you had me :rotfl:

:welcome: Hi! Welcome to my TR!

I did not take a picture of the Star Wars pins yet but they did have quite a few. We spent way too much at Wicket's Warehouse. :sad2: We noticed that there were not many new shirts and DH has the ones that he really likes....my favorite....Yoda.........pull my finger!:laughing: They have some really nice high end stuff too that you need to go through a special line to even see let alone buy. :confused3 One good thing was that the line went quick and there were not many people in the store at the same time. The last time we did SW Weekend we waited forever just to get in Wicket's Warehouse!

DH noticed the Greek kid missing right away. :scared1: I am 100% Greek so we always comment about him and when he was missing that was the first thing DH said....hey, better issue an Amber Alert in your TR!:laughing: I still have that song stuck in my head..........

Hi Amy,

:welcome: Welcome to my TR!

It was POURING so hard it was unreal! Did you do any parks over the weekend?

Hi :goodvibes Yes, we've been spending a lot of time at Disney this week ~ our season passes have black out dates starting next weekend and we can't go for over 2 months :sad1:

We went to Epcot a couple of days and DHS. Today we spent the day at DHS and it was our first SWW! It was so wonderful !!!
It was really really magical :wizard:
We had so much fun we're going back tomorrow
Darth Maul was so great ~ everyone was intimidated by him, lol.

Hey ~ I meant to mention that we had a female gangster a couple of weeks ago on TGMR and she was so bad! I bet it's the same one you had :rotfl:

I swear... Jenn & I are going to end up best friends, ha ha.

I'm with her on the Star wars thing. My DB is a fan & I cant deal. I've never watched all of them all the way & have zero desire to. :snooty:

Plus I totally agree with her.... Peter Pan is like the best movie ever & that ride is fantastic! :tink:

I love your pics of Spectro & i cant wait to see that again. I havent seen that in ohhhh.... 16 years. Sad huh? :sad1:

Is it September 12th yet? :sad2:

I'm loving the pics though & keep em coming! :yay:

Amy,

I didn't realize the black out dates were for that long! Sheesh!

Glad you like WW. It's fun when you get there at rope drop and see the storm troopers up on the roof of the entrance. Sorta intimidating too.

I bet we did get the same CM on the western side. Man was she lame. And she was shouting in the microphone blasting everyone's ears, etc. :sad2:

My bro was into Star Wars as a kid so naturally we all watched. DH loves it and honestly once I understood the whole story, etc. I also found it really interesting. Anywho, it was fun to see the characters from the movies!

I like the Pan ride too. Not that I don't. I just hate the queue. It gets so hot in there. I've seen people faint in the queue from the heat. It amazes me that with a ride the has continuous movement the line seems to stand still. :scared1:

Glad you liked the pictures. I am going to do another installment now.......

We were all super tired from the night before. I managed to go to bed by 1 and I knew that 5 am was just around the corner.

I got up at 5 and started to get ready. Another thing that I didn't like about Pop is that they don't have the curtain that closes off the sink area like they had at All Stars. Not sure why.

I got DH up at 6 and DB at 6:30. I wanted to be out of the room no later than 7 since we needed to drive over to the Poly. I think we left aorund 5 after which wasn't bad.

Last year we figured out that resort keys open up any resort gate so we decided to use that side of the entrance because we wanted to be able to park at the Poly and take the monorail to MK. It is so much easier on DH when we do this. Yeah, I know. Not suppose to...blah, blah, blah.

We were the third party to arrive that for our ADR that morning. The guys were grumbling because I made the get up so early and there wasn't even anyone there.

I also demanded that DB wear his 1st Trip pin. He wasn't very happy but he did agree to it!

I wore my brand spankin new Steeler's shirt that day. Front says "got six?" and the back says "the burg does" then it lists the 6 super bowls, etc. I also had my steeler's draw string backpack. This is important to note later.......

Our CM server was awesome. She messed with the boys a bit since it was so early in the morning. Even though I was suppose to be dieting, I HAD TO HAVE the Tonga Toast! Who goes there and doesn't get that????? THe boys both got the Big Kahuna which is too much food for me but man did the pancakes look good!!!!!!

I was clock watching of course because I did not want to miss the opening show at MK and I knew that I also had to try again to stand in line for my TIW card. Systems were down the day before and I was unable to get it!

We finished our breakfast, paid the check (no TIW discount for me since I didn't have the stupid card yet) and made our way to the Monorail station. The monorail was packed and DB and I ran in one car and DH in the other. My car was filled with Steeler's fans! Woo Hoo! There was one older man that had on a Steeler's hat that asked me where I got the shirt. He actually asked DB who is NOT a Steeler's fan and is a Browns fan. DB said he didn't know me....nice, eh? This then got us into a conversation with just about everyone on our side of the car. I got to meet a great bunch of people and share stories of what stores have the best Steeler's stuff, etc. It was amazing to see the number of fans there ..... dressed in their Steeler's finest. It passed the time while we were on the monorail. You know how it is when you are on the resort side. Seems like it takes forever to get there!

I went to Guest Relations to get our TIW card. Let's try this again!!! Well, the systems were STILL DOWN!!!!!!! The CM there though was super nice and gave me a FP to any attraction for our entire party that was good all day. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!

We claimed our space for the opening show. I thought we had a pretty good one.

So did you ever get ready to take a picture and some jerk decides that this is the perfect time to either move in front of you or put his kid on his shoulders? Why the he** didn't he do that at the START of the show so that I could at least move instead of waiting until the absolute finale to do so? Nice picture...thanks dude.

DisneyMay2009393.jpg

I took pictures of the new banners. Yeah, they were laughin at me for stopping every two feet!

DisneyMay2009398.jpg

Here are all of the people making the mad dash after the rope dropped.

DisneyMay2009396.jpg

Once inside we went to Tomorrowland which is hard for us since DH and I always, always, always, go left when the rest of the world is going right! We hopped on Buzz which obviously had no wait since it was rope drop. DB and I rode together which didn't seem to thrill him much. Joe rode alone. We didn't get our pictures...not even redneck shots! DH and DB wanted to compete and ride together so we went again. DH said my picture was pretty funny but I didnt' see it.

When we left Buzz, we saw Buzz doing a photo session. Yeah, no one would go over with me....they were kill joys.......

We then went over to ****. I always enjoy this show. I was so hoping that DB would have been "that guy."

I wanted to do CoP. I casually mentioned it and it was like no one heard me. They kept on going.

We went over to Pooh which I adore and got into a honey pot within about 5 minutes. I just love that ride. DB does not like Piglet at all. Has never liked Piglet so we had fun giving him the business about that!

DisneyMay2009418.jpg

DisneyMay2009437.jpg

I took this for my mom...........

DisneyMay2009441.jpg

I love to take merchandise pictures too.

DisneyMay2009439.jpg

DisneyMay2009444.jpg

After Pooh, I wanted to go here....but I was out voted.

DisneyMay2009446.jpg

Up next......... Where did we use our good all day any ride attraction? Did it rain again?

Got a nail appointment people so I gotta stop here.:laughing:

Hi Sophia!

Great updates again, love all the photos! The rope drop ceremony looks good, we need to get out of bed early at least once and go see it!
The photos of the castle and spectromagic are fab! Bring back lots of good memories! :goodvibes
As for the car - would never have guessed it! So I take it it was bigger than our Toyota? ;) :lmao:
We're hoping to go back first 2 weeks Oct 2010 - are you holidaying then by any chance?

We will be there in September 2010 renewing our vows (hopefully). Any chance that you would consider the third week in September 2010? :flower3:

I love love love your bro's t-shirt! and omg, how much would I LOVE being picked as family of the day for the MK opening! I think I would die honestly! Let's keep my fingers crossed lol! I wonder how they choose! I gotta say, I do not think I will be doing the Tonga toast.. the big kahuna, was just TOO good!

I am looking forward to hearing what you used your FP's on!

As soon as he saw the shirt I could tell that he wanted it! I was glad that he got it!

I have no clue how early you need to get there to be the family for the day at MK. It would be fun though, wouldn't it?

Tonga Toast is good but it's way too much to eat by myself!

I will do another update probably later on tonight!

HAHAHAH my parents did the SAME thing when we went a few years ago. I made them wakeup for a 7:30ADR and they were already mad. They don't understand that you need ADR's for everything and that you need to get to the parks when they open - DO NOT SLEEP IN AT DISNEY! So we got there and were the FIRST ones there. They just laughed and shook their heads and wanted to go back to bed. Grrrrr. Tonga Toast is soooooooooo good.

I've never been to rope drop at MK but I'm glad to hear you liked it! Also, I feel you when you wanted to do stuff and the boys just kept walking....not cool! Did you like laugh floor? I feel like it's either really funny or not funny at all so I hope you had a funny show!

I always say that we can sleep when we are dead. When we're at Disney it's the time to see everything we can in how ever long we're there.

Before I get started on the next installment here are some pictures that I meant to include along the way.

Here are the new bags. I don't think I like them very much. The blue ink does the same thing as the last ones did. If the bag gets wet....look out....blue in everywhere. Happened to my bro but I had wipes in my purse to take care of that. I believe that was when he started calling me McGyver! :lmao:

DisneyMay2009159.jpg

I saw these at Everything Pop. I think that they're cute!

After Pooh we headed over to Frontierland. I wanted to do Country Bears but I was outvoted. Joe wanted to do HM again but I wasn't in the mood. I told him I'd shop and meet him but he decided against it.

We decided to use our FP's from the TIW thing at Splash. In the meantime we grabbed FP's for BTMRR first. Return time was about an hour, maybe less. The sign said that the wait for Splash was 20 or 30 minutes. I can't remember now but I do recall thinking...no frickin way...much longer. We used the FP and walked on. Yes people, we WALKED ON SPLASH! We went so fast that I did not even get to take pictures in the queue! I asked Joe to take pics inside the ride for me. I am a new Splash rider and didn't have the guts to do so. Here are some of them.

After Splash we went over to BTMRR. I just started riding last September and am kicking myself for all these years that have gone by where I was too chicken....stupid me!

We decided on Casey's for lunch but first DH wanted to get a Dole Whip. I am not much of a fan so DB and I waited for him in the shade.

We went over to Casey's and DB and I went to find seats. We found the three little chairs to the side of the screen. Score! However DH comes out and wonders why the hell we were not in the bleachers which were empty. Duh, they were full when we went a lookin'!

We moved to the bleachers to enjoy what we think are the best hot dogs on the planet.

Now you see them............

DisneyMay2009485.jpg

Now you don't!!!!!!!!!!!!

DisneyMay2009486.jpg

I wanted to walk through the Emporium on our way out of MK. We were taking a break and heading over to AKL so that I could get my beloved zebra domes...or zebra dumps as my DB dubbed them.

DisneyMay2009487.jpg

DisneyMay2009488.jpg

DisneyMay2009489.jpg

I want this..........

DisneyMay2009490.jpg

Check out this new hat. Never seen it before. Kinda cute....

DisneyMay2009491.jpg

Next up............ What did DB think about AKL? Just how many zebra domes did I consume? Exactly when did the rain come?

Stay tuned........

Those frames at Pop are adorable!! So is the magical day one! zebra domes sound sooo good right about now.

Hi Sophia!

So, come clean - did you leave any zebra domes at AKL or did you buy them out and now have a zebra dome 'mountain' in your house that you are quietly working your way through??? :rotfl2:

As for the September 2010 - that's out for us I'm afraid, it'll be October as they schools are on holiday then and we really don't want them to miss school again! :sad2:

I love the frames. When I go back in September I plan to get a few. I have one now and it is zebra print from DAK.

I want a zebra dome RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

Di, I was very disappointed that Pop didn't have refrigerators. If they did, I would have bought as MANY domes as possible and tried to take them home with me. :rolleyes1 I could eat them as a meal all by themselves!!!

Aww, I wish we could be there at the same time in 2010. Who knows, maybe I can talk DH into a short little October trip when we get back. :rolleyes1

Great TR girl!!! You took a lot of pics didn't ya? I love the Big Kahuna breakfast. It's so good! OMG. I love Kona breakfast but the service always sucks! (We always get the same woman...LOL) How'd you like SWW? I thought it was awesome. Every time I went to DHS I left soaking wet though. Miserable! Ugh! The guy in front of the SW's sign...:lmao: That;s funny.

I took around 1,200 or 1,400 pictures but the only time I took out my rebel was for Spectro. There was just too freaking much rain!

We have been to SWW twice now. Love it!

I can't tear myself away from the Tonga Toast but I think this time I really want those dang coconut pancake things...or maybe it is the stuff they put on top? I am debating already.....lame, isn't it? :lmao:

I think we bought two sets of ponchos this trip. DHS was miserable in the rain. Worse than any other park but you know what, I'd do it again! :woohoo:

I didn't even see the dude in front of the sign until after we got home and downloaded the pictures. DH took it. I laughed my butt off when I noticed it! Just had to post it!

Thanks for coming over! :dance3:

What great updates. I think we may have to try Kona and the Tonga toast. That looks really yummy!
I am sorry to hear about the Pop we have always wanted to try to stay there. At least the room was clean.
