HI all. Happy New Year!!

Planning to go to SSR for the first time this summer. Any suggestions on room location? We would be staying in a 2 bedroom and our youngest is 10.

I can not locate a map with building numbers.

Thanks for any input!

we stay in Congress Park... actually had the same exact room two years in a row! We love it because it's close to the bus stop and close to the DTD walkway.

The buildings aren't really numbered. The rooms are numbered, so you have to look at the room numbers which are displayed on the building. We also stayed in Congress Park, twice and had a DTD view. Very nice building. Nice leisure pool.

Congress Park consists of four buildings. the rooms are 1101-2836 If pulling into CP, starting on the right the buildings are rooms:
bldg 1. 2501-2835
bldg 2. 2101-2436
bldg 3. 1501-1836
bldg 4. 1101-1436

the quiet pool is between bldgs 2&3, the walkway to DTD is closest to bldg 4.

I would scan my map for you, but my scanner is acting up today :headache:

We have 4 children, 10 and under, and we like bldg 3 the best because it has a nice little walk to the bus stop at CP.

Hi all,
I am staying at SSR Pres week, do any of you know if any of the buildings are out of bus range? I want to stay where the bus doesn't run near the buildings. I noticed at OKW there are some places where you have the bus running until late right outside your door?? I would like to avoid this.

Thanks, Kate :umbrella:

We like the Springs section. It's closest to the main pool as well as Community Hall, the Spa and AP.

The buildings at SSR are alot larger than the OKW buildings, so buses seem less noticeable at SSR. Our last room at SSR was at the end of the building right against the road. We didn't hear the buses going by at all! The Paddock buildings are probably closer to the roads than the other buildings. If you request The Springs, you could ask for a room at the end of the buildings closer to the lake. These are probably furthest from the road.

Where does the path from SSR to DTD bring you? That is where do you come out at the DTD end? Does it run along the road-DVC way or Community Drive or whatever it is called now?

Just reread your post. Some of the path is through a wooded area and then out to the sidewalk by the road. I joked that a nice "little" bridge would make it a more direct walk. It still is no more than 5 or 10 minutes. We were in the last building in Congress Park.

how likely are you to get a room request you ask for. My DS can't get out of his wheelchair and I asked for a room (all accessable rooms seem to be on the 1st floor) that had a nice view to give him something to look at. I am concerned that we would end up with a patio which looked on to the road, car park etc.

We had great views at the Congress Park area and a nice view of the water in the Springs area.

There are actually two paths. One leads to the Marketplace, the other to the Westside. One follows the shore of the lake and then connects to the sidewalk on Buena Vista Drive (opposite the Buena Vista Palace Resort). Follow that sidewalk right to the Disney Resort Marketplace Bus Stops. The other path goes from the front of the resort (near the Carriage House) and goes on the golf course paths and across the bridge for a little ways. This path connects to the parking area behind House of Blues. This way is faster if you are near the Springs area and are heading to DDWestside.

I've stayed in Congress Park and The Springs. With my kids, I enjoyed the Springs building much better for it's close proximity to the feature pool, Artist Palette, arcade, and community hall. We also stayed in the last building of Congress park, closest to the Downtown disney walkway, and the close location to DD couldn't be beat. Plus, the view was awesome. I never heard busses in either location, but the nightly 11:30pm Pleasure Island fireworks did wake me up nightly! I fell right back to sleep though, since I was a park commando last trip!

We just booked an HCA room for my DH. Would love to know where they are located. Has anyone stayed in one?

We've stayed in Congress Park and The Paddocks. I would suggest a car if staying at The Paddocks as the walk to the main buildings can be a bit of a hike (I have an elderly mom and in-laws; so this is a consideration for us). The buildings I would choose are the Springs and Congress Park, both an easier walk to the main area. The Springs are closer, but the bus stop is the last one before leaving the resort for the parks. At crowded times, this might be a cause of concern. Again, I rarely suggest a car on Disney property, but we would rent one for SSR.

When we stayed at SSR in Sept 04 we had a room that was partly accessible. It was a 2 bed lock off. It was in Congress Park, the building nearest to the main resort area and furthest from DTD, but still just a 7-10 min walk to DTD. The studio bathroom was accessible as was the 1 bed kitchen. It was on a high floor. We actually had to move because DD then 16 months could reach everything in the kitchen (including controls on cooker and the coffee pot) because it was lower and the trash etc was exposed rather than in a cupboard to create room for a wheelchair to turn. It was a great room with a fab view of Cirque. Had it not been for our little one taking advantage of the 'accessibility' of the kitchen appliances etc we would have happily stayed there.

You will have a GREAT time wherever you are. If you are on the ground floor you might see rabbits and ducks from your patio. Don't know how old DS is, but that might be fun.

I don't think many of the rooms have car park views, many seem to face lakes or DTD. I think the car parks are generally on the side of the buildings where there are no balconies.
