New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

It’s really a shame how far Disney Cruise has gone from their original styles. I just don’t understand how people think any of this theming is better than the original 4 ships. Nothing about the Wish class outside of the pool side food is an improvement. The dinner venues are too cramped and loud. Adult spaces are smaller and less private. I could go on.

I bet that restaurant won't serve the Pirate menu either. It'll always be Lion King A or B/
But they said they’re only doing it on five night sailings or longer which means it must serve a pirate menu on its four nights

And if they are not doing a pirate menu at all on 5 nights- what are they doing for the other restaurants? Because most people are going to want to have both experiences at lion King and perhaps even both experiences at Marvel considering it’s a Marvel focused ship and I’m guessing a lot of Marvel lovers on her- making 1923 the odd man out

I have my issues with the wish class, mostly having to do with layout, but for people who like heavy Disney theming- they are immaculately themed. There are so many details and really a lot of love poured into those ships.

I don’t like Luna lounge layout at all for the adult stuff. I miss the adult activity space of the Dream class (And I much prefer their pools, and rainforest room) but to say they did not knock the theming out of the park, is not true.

The wish class ships are absolutely beautiful. They have functional layout issues. The pool food is better, but I will also argue that the pirate night show with the live music is much better than the other pirate night shows. I prefer the aqua mouse because I hate climbing a bunch of stairs over and over again- But I absolutely hate that they put the only adult hot tub, not behind a pay wall, right by it speakers.

There are things to really love about the new ships, but they definitely have flaws and I can totally understand why somebody would prefer to sail on them or not.

Because variety is the spice of life. You still have your four classic ships, but now guest have options for different experiences that might not be your cup of tea.

Yes. I assume it will be Lion King A and Pirates on a 4 night. And Lion King A and B and Pirates on a 5. The other 2 can do pirates on a 5. I don't think it's a big issue.

I agree that if you like the heavy Disney theming the Wish class is “better” themed for you. I think the Art Deco/Nouveua is more beautiful than the plastic feel of the Wish Atrium. But objectively the layout of the Wish class like you stated is far worse than the Dream class especially. And what they did to the adult areas completely contradicts Disney Cruise Line’s claim that it caters to adults as well.

I understand that. But in the long term do you think Disney Cruise Line will design ships like the classic 4 again? Once the classic 4 are gone it’s just going to be Disney World at sea with IP in your face everywhere. That’s what the classic 4 got right. You got the Disney experience but it didn’t feel like you were at Disney World.

Okay... So talking just about 5 nights- Rotations for your idea would be...

A. 1923, Marvel, Pirate, Lion King A, 1923 (B?)
B. Marvel, Lion King A, Pirate, 1923 (B?), Marvel (B?)
C. Lion King A, 1923, Pirate, Marvel, Lion King B

In this plan only 1/3 of diners get the Marvel B experience and/or the Lion King B experience.

Even without a Pirate Menu you would end up with something like
D. 1923, Marvel A, Lion King A, 1923 (B?) , Marvel B
E. Marvel A, Lion King A, 1923, Marvel B, Lion King B (This will likely be the one everyone would want)
F. Lion King A, 1923, Marvel A, Lion King B, 1923 (B?)

That leaves it where 1/3 of diners are missing the second show at Marvel and/or the second dining at Lion King. I know some cruisers love 1923 but on a new ship almost everyone will want both Lion King experiences and on a Marvel heavy ship I am guessing many Marvel fans will want both Marvel experiences as well... which leaves many unhappy guests.

There is a reason that DCL does not offer animation magic unless all diners get a chance to enjoy it. Guests will be unhappy if they feel they are missing out on experiences. It is why 5 night have both a Pirate Night and a Let the Magic Begin where everyone is getting the same menu.

The majority of guests will have no idea there is an extra menu or extra show. They just show up to dinner.

That is not true and even if true they will quickly learn otherwise once on the ship- cruisers talk. Facebook groups are a Huge thing for Disney Cruisers, also WhatsApp Group chats and chances are high that it will be well shared by influencers on Tiktok and Youtube as soon as sailings start. People might not know they needed to request it ahead of time but they will find out that others had an experience they didn't and likely feel short changed... and considering how much DCL sailings cost it could leave a bitter taste in their mouth, especially if it is their first DCL sailing.

Meh, I disagree, but perhaps you are right. I know a lot of people use groups and such, but I think way more people do not use them. Also, we don't know yet if there is another show at the Lion King restaurant, so they are really just missing another menu, not necessarily another show. I think it's a non-issue.

Even without another show... many cruisers (especially DCL vets) are going to want the unique to Lion King B menu. Especially those that have already sailed the Treasure and had both Marvel and 1923 in B mode. I am really hoping someone mistyped because it will likely be a mess otherwise.

This might be like when DCL announced a Ball Pit for Edge and Vibe for the Dream Drydock and forgot to write out Gaga Ball Pit which is a very different thing all together.

That is my point. Only "DCL vets" will care, or even have the knowledge, that there is another menu.

You are assuming that new cruisers are not informed. Many of them do research and will find this out. And if they find it out even after sailing? That could make them feel that they got the short stick (many new to DCL cruisers already feel that way due to CC members getting first dibs at Palo (especially brunch) and drink tastings. And there are a LOT of DCL cruise vets the first few months of a new ship launching.

If this was such a small thing DCL would likely already offer it on the other ships, a B menu at Rapunzels and Tiana's on 5 night sailings... or Animation Magic on the Dream and Fantasy but they aren't. They have Let the Magic Begin, Pirate Night, and each of the 3 main rotation menus.

If I remember my announcements right, there's one more Triton class and then the other 2 off the line are somewhere between the classic ships and the triton ships in size.

I think you can expect more IP, mainly because the age range of people booking vacations expect IP?

2 more Wish/Triton, one for the main line, and one for OLC Japan, and then 3 mid-sized ships to eventually replace Magic and Wonder.

I volunteer as tribute to NOT have Lion King twice. Those pictured menu items don't look good to me.
