Has anyone ever tried riding Splash Mountain first at rope drop? How did it go as far as wait time and was it up and running? I did see a video where it was not running until about 30 minutes after opening.

On a Sunday in late January, Pirates opened at 8:30. Some vloggers have noted before this and after they run it before open. We walked on and rode in our own boat. From there, we got in line for Big Thunder, which they opened right at 9. We were off before 9:20, and walked on to Splash. I would highly recommend this method, because I have also noticed Splash doesn't always open with the park. This way, you can get 1-2 big ones done and still get ahead of most people trying to ride Splash, and it is not a wasted rope drop if it doesn't open on time.

Thank you! Yeah was thinking it doesn’t always open with park.

On our last trip, we started in Adventureland, and walked right on to Jungle Cruise. After that we went Pirates. I tend to hold off on Splash Mtn because, depending on the weather, it may be a little cold. Also, I'd hate to get all wet at the start of the day, and be uncomfortable. Best to watch the wait times and do it in the afternoon, when it gets hot.

We did exactly this at the end of March. Highly recommend bc that Pirates line gets LONG and doesn’t quit!

Maybe our goal will be Pirates and Big Thunder. Then go back toward closing for Splash.

We did exactly this in early December. It worked out perfectly.

Our plan is usually to hit BTMRR first, hoping Splash is open when we are done. If not we go to Pirates then to Splash...
This is exactly what we do.
In 4 trips since reopening last summer, Splash has never once been open before 9. In our experience, they usually don't let people line up until well after rope drop. By then we've done Big Thunder and Pirates.

Haunted Mansion is another that never opens early in our experience. Pirates has been hit or miss at rope drop (but usually earlier than 9) but Big Thunder has always been a sure bet.

We usually hit SDMT, Peter Pan, and Big Thunder all before official opening (we typically are at the temp checks by 8am ish - or as close as the first bus from the resort allows if we're not staying in the MK area), then hit Splash with a minimum wait (assuming it's up and running by that point - we've had several trips where it wasn't). Regardless, we always do Big Thunder first because it's so much shorter than Splash.

Does Splash always have a later opening time? We are heading their in June, and I was considering hitting Splash first as I've seen it have consistently longer wait times that SDMT. But then I read it doesn't even open with rope drop.

No reports so far from it opening early.

In October, we were in the park by 8:20am for a posted park opening time of 9am. Splash was not running yet so we rode BTMRR and decided to wait it out for Splash. They started letting people in the queue around 9:05, so its accurate that it starts running right around the posted park opening time.

Splash definitely doesn’t open pre park like 7DMT & Peter Pan’s Flight. Would totally recommend trying to do those 2 preopening and then move over to Frontierland for Big Thunder and then Splash. I think your good for the first hour after opening before the line starts to build. Alternatively you could hit Jungle Cruise and Pirates instead of going to Fantasyland first.
