Southwest online booking time?

When I booked ours last year through southwest I checked every single day and one random day the price dropped without warning about 30-40 bucks and I knew it couldn't get any better than that so I booked one way right then. A few weeks later the return flight did the same thing. And sure enough when I checked a few days later it had gone up again. (Now this was going to/from jackson ms which is never a full flight, and it is actually canceling flights to/from there in June, which really screws up our disney trips!
Get the Ding app on your phone and computer. It alerts you about price drops!

why do so many ppl want to book opening day are the tickets cheaper? first time looking into southwest for us

Depending on where you are flying from, the fares can be the cheapest when they first come out. For us flying out of Chicago, SWA fares are usually at their highest when they are first released and then they go down a little after they've been out awhile (but then go back up as the plane sells out).

lol I'm also sitting here trying! I don't have to get ready for work for another 40 mins so I'll keep refreshing!

Dates are open according to travel tools update, but not online, probably only by phone. I hate this waiting game. Once I waited till 11 am.

I know SWA is headquartered in Texas and they are having bad weather there and the highways are a mess according to my family that resides there. So maybe the good folks at SWA are having trouble getting to work.. That's my only explanation.

I skipped my gym so I could be on the computer at 6am. Not happy right now!! I've really had a hard time booking this trip...maybe it is a sign...yikes!!

I just called, the fares are still being loaded. She wasn't sure what time.

It is open!!!! Flights are much higher than I expected!! Oh well. I booked and I will keep an eye out for drops in prices. Ugh!

Well, that was a whole lot of waiting just for a big letdown:sick:. There are NO non-stops out of Grand Rapids:mad:...and the prices are around $500 R/T:headache:. Detroit is no better so it's time to price out the logistics of Chicago...

...this sucks:sad:....

I booked our flights in three bunches, but have received only one confirmation email.

Any idea how I can check to be sure the other two got through? Is there somewhere on the site to check reservations by name?

Not that I know of, but on the page where you completed booking, there should be the confirmation number-you can use that. Took about 2 minutes for my email to come through

Huh? There's only 5 tickets available on my flight in late August and when I choose 6 seats, it says Sold Out. Hopefully this is just an opening glitch. They couldn't have filled up the plane in the first 20 minutes!

If flights look high now just wait till they have the annual birthday sale and you might get a lower fare. The sale historically covers flights from mid- Aug to mid-Dec.

This is why I book using our RR number so I don't have to keep track of emails everything is listed on our RR acct

Anybody else noticing the total cost in points is being rounded up? I selected flights that are listed as 5,469 points each way. When I go to the next screen, it lists the total cost as 10,940 points instead of 10,938 so they are charging me an extra two points.

If I paid in dollars it shows that I would earn 546 points. That indicates that the cost of each flight before fees is $91. Therefore the points cost should be 5460 not 5469.
