Anyone familiar with SW airlines and their reservations? Everytime I try and go to their website to check their fares, I typically do not see the deals that they advertise.

I see right now that they are only taking ressies through 9/12. I'm looking for airfare over Thanksgiving and was wondering how far in advance are the fares/schedules posted?

I already have my DVC ressies. Just trying to get cheap airfare.

Is there a trick to getting a good rate?

Any help would be appreciated.

get on their email list - also the new thing (okay I don't remember what it is called) - also check on the transportation board - when the internet rates are posted for Thanksgiving - they will say there too.

their wonderful rates are just for the first couple of days - especially at popular times.

when I was looking I got a rate of $95 from b'ham to MCO (non-stop) and back - this rate included the extra taxes that b'ham has - I went with Delta (they lower their prices while SW does) for $101 because they are on the list of magical express.

You're thinking of "Ding"?

I imagine it will be a while before Thanksgiving fares are announced. I'd just keep checking.

They probaby won't release Thanksgiving fares until late June - early July. If you see a good fare on another airline and have specific days and times to travel, I would grab it. The discount fares on SWA go very quickly during peak times.

When I spoke to Southwest in Early April they told me the end of May would be when the new schedule would come out! Looking for air for 38 people to MCO for the end of november, I have put together a family Reunion aboard the Sovereign of the Seas.

DEFINITELY download Ding! We travel between Orlando and Chicago at least once a month, and my husband just grabbed another super Ding deal today. It is the best!

I have started a thread over on the transportation board waiting for SWA to release dates beyond 9/12 (where they are today...)

Hop over there and wait with us :-)

Historically speaking, the next new schedule will probably only have flights through the end of October.

I don't think that you can put more than 6 or 8 on an online reservation. I doubt that you will even find that many 'internet fare' seats (which are the best deal) on any single flight. Plus, if it's around Thanksgiving, you probably won't get ANY seats at that price.

With that large group, have you considered a charter company???
