Hey girl...good to see ya!! I would think the opposite... with the economy the way it is and gas so high, I would think peeps would be lookin' for 'cheap' vacay. Let's face it, Disney is a small fortune (or your first born)when it comes to tickets and traveling there...so, if I were planning a UO trip, and didn't know better about staying onsite, I'd jump all over those tickets....so, I'm hoping you're right and it won't be crowded...then again, we stay onsite, so it doesn't matter to us :goodvibes Are your dates confirmed?? Will I get to meetcha (as Janet sez)in 3-D?? :3dglasses

Hey Barb! No, our dates are not confirmed....yet! I really do think that we will be there the 22nd through the 26th, though. They keep changing the work schedule for my DH....I told him that he's just going to have to commit to that week and tell them that he's taking it and that's that! You know he's not the only one who has to schedule vacation time...I do too and already got that week OK'd. I'm pretty much ready to say yes, those are our dates, but let me hit DH over the head and see if I can get him to commit to ressies! Do you suppose the rates will go down closer to time to go? They did in 2006. We got RPR for $129/weeknights and $149/weekend nights in early June 2006. Wouldn't that be nice!!!

maybe kfish will add that to her siggie so it will help red flag her for the tag fairy.

i wish i may, i wish i might, have the wish i wish tonight.......

kfish w/crabs tag....

ew! ew! SECOND that

Barb - that was the problem with my 12 year old too. He played rec soccer for 5 years, scored probably an average of 2 goals a game (and played goalie usually for a half) and had a great time. Decided two years ago he wanted to play "travel/premiere/select" (whatever you call it there). ...... Not worth the hassle, KWIM?

exactly! :thumbsup2

.....She really has no idea she takes things out on us.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You are really going to get a good tag if you don't watch it! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My Mom doesn't either :sad2: Rely on me, take things out on me....like i said before, I am (literally) ALL she has! :guilty:

I agree about the tag KFed....better watch it :rolleyes1

They could go down...depending how desperate they are to fill the hotel...but nothing is guaranteed. You can book now and change to a lower rate later if ya haveta.... Peeps are mentioning SuperSaver rates are out.....are they out for your dates?? AAA rates aren't bad...averaging just over $200/nite...not too bad! ;) We bought airfare yesterday...we are confirmed "arriving MCO 9:35am June 26th" :woohoo:  So....we will definately be there....hope to cya's there :thumbsup2

btw Wendy....noticed that little banner in your sig :thumbsup2

Way to go!!! :woohoo:

Hey guys - checking in - last morning at hotel. YES!!:cool1: :cool1:

Rose - so glad to hear about DH's job. I know this was a big worry for your family over the past months. Glad to hear you are talking about taking a vacation now!

Mac - it must be a bad week for tooth problems. One of my coworkers broke a part of his tooth off this week as well. It must not be that severe, as he is able to keep working (and eating/drinking CAREFULLY). He is waiting until we get back home to get his tooth fixed. One our clients is a dentist who would work after hours for this emergency.:)

Tricia - so glad to hear Carol is doing well after her surgery. I am sending good thoughts your way.

Marci - I can't believe you have to schedule your driving tests. I dont' think you have to do that in my area. But it's been so long. Son is almost 13, and can get a permit at 15. So we still have some time.

Hello to everyone else on the thread.

Last day at out of town - hope to get home by 6pm tonight. Looking forward to my own bed and shower.  Super 8 Motel is so NOT like home.

Okay...so, I'm guessin' she died...when and what from?? (news is just starting, haven't been able to find details)
Madeline Kahn died on December 3, 1999 of ovarian cancer. She was one of my all time favorites actresses and is sorely missed. I love watching her in the Mel Brooks movies she did...she was a comedic genius.

all this talk about dieting and smoking is making me want to go out and buy a dozen candy bars and a carton of smokes..........

I'll stick with the candy bars but they are so hard to keep lit!

Todd- I never thought I could quit smoking. I couldn't sit through a movie without having to go outside and sparkin' one up. I had to leave the emergency operations center during the height of hurricane Andrew just to burn one and they burn fast in 150 MPH winds. My job said my insurance was going up because I smoked but if we sat through a smoking cessation class the rates wouldn't go up. I had no desire to quit just get the insurance rates down. They handed out a bunch of patches and if you really like the nicotine buzz you should put the strongest patch on your arm and then smoke.:smokin: I ended up quitting just from the competition with the other losers in the class. There really is no future in it and now is so socially unacceptable that pressure is coming from every direction. When I started smoking you could 3 packs and a can of Mt. Dew at the gas station for $1 and now I think it's cheaper to smoke dope.

Wendy- The we quit the Alli about a week before the Universal trip. We weren't bad at Universal but when we got home the cramps were killer. My Dr. said Alli's cool because it makes you aware of what you eat more than anything. I have had some interesting toilet time because of the little pill. Monday I'm starting a diet contest with 3 other guys from work. We are throwing in a $100 each and winner takes all in 3 months. I have never lost one of these challenges but this time I'm the oldest by 20 years.

DM- I lose 6-8 pounds every morning. I need to lose 60-80!

Jodie- Congrats to Mike!
My wife was eating at Cheeburger Cheeburger and the partial she received as a result of a rodeo accident disappeared. She swallowed it. She cried for days from the embarrassment. It took time to make the replacement. She told the people where she works that she lost it from a jet ski accident. It guess the eating thing was too much to admit. Me and the kids did our best not to call her Brandine or Snags. My 2 front teeth are caps that used to be silver when I was a kid. Today the grill is cool but I'm glad to have the fine German porcelain in there now.

Tricia- Remember "Hey kids! What time is it?" Captain Kangaroo (CK) was Clarabelle the Clown on the Howdy Doody Show. He never talked but had 2 bike horns that he would blow and he was constantly spritzing Buffalo Bob with seltzer. He made the Clown Hall of Fame from that role before he donned the red Captain's jacket. CK on CBS aired the same day as the Mickey Club did on ABC. We watched CK in the morning and Annette in the afternoon. And Mac- Mr. Green Jeans (Lumpy Brannum) was from DeKalb County.
Bunny Rabbit was forever tricking the Capt. out of bunches of carrots. Carrots are suppose to be good for the eyes but Bunny wore glasses? He must have been doing something else that makes you go blind?
How about Tom Terrific and Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog? Tom could change shapes but you always knew it was him because of the funnel hat. Crabby Appleton was a great villain.
The Banana Man would pull out bunches of bananas from his coat and never talked beyond the falsetto "Woooow!".
I really feel old because there are friends at work that have never heard of CK!

Marcie....Southwest was releasing summer fares (May thru Aug) yesterday (Jan 9th). They normally release 11am (or shortly thereafter...shortly like 5-15 min. after the hour!) EST. Popular times book quick (cuz of the summer travel to MCO and the 'mouse') and most sit and wait and just 'refresh' the screen waiting for the fares to be up (guilty :rolleyes1 ) March has been out for awhile.... You don't need a code or anything...just plug in your cities and dates and see what they offer.... period. The only thing you can download is 'ding's...which are like an IM to 'special sale fares' offered for limited time...like 24 hours maybe??? Think of them as 'specials' delivered immediately to your desktop. ;)

Barb, did you book something yet for your summer trip? I haven't, my dates are still over $100 each way, I check everyday, and have "ding" installed on all my computers. That's how I got the $50 each way fare last year, plus I have $200 credit to use before June of this year (which I will) so I might be flying for next to nothing if I play my cards right and be patient!! :thumbsup2

Janet! That is priceless!
ha - i couldn't help myself...like Rodge Rabbit when he hears that tune...ta-da!:dance3:

wendy - you know you're a redneck when...;) jk; camping is good clean fun...more peeps should go down to our very own RVGal's joint and order up a top of the line monster travel trailer...i hear she'll trow in a free beef wellington - to go:thumbsup2

metro - no! you're pulling my leg; does have a distinctive voice? do you know where on MIB? FYI, ROTF; actually wish i had some soft shell crabs (a big old pot of them) snow crab in a pinch or lobster; i'm easy:goodvibes

marci - that's quite a waiting list for DL exams:confused3 good luck

Kfed - good for you as to the demonstrations; curious - is the presentation in "mixed company"; do the kids behave? Despite being RC (sadly, i don't walk the talk) glad to hear their options are being discussed. Kids don't always follow the moral path you try to set out; certainly better than if they turn up with a disease or unplanned pregnancy. One of the mothers i've come to know over the years has twins, girl & boy. She off-handedly commented awhile back when discussing the younger Speers getting preggie; that she'd luv for her daughter to do so too (we're talking a 15 year old); so she could have another baby to raise...always wanted 1 more.

mike - oh to snag a $100 fare:wizard: ; phillie seems to get all the luv from SW:) ; course we tend to travel on the weekends & last time i looked the fares were in the $150+ range for SW & AT one way this summer - yikes.

MF - thanx for the walk down memory lane, don't remember howdy doody though. In our area Paul Shannon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Shannon
was the afternoon kiddie host:thumbsup2 He's credited for helping a major resurgence in the careers of my heros

I can relate...one of my customers put in two bathroom floors for me. I gave him $100 and 6 free cuts (and the floors were nothing! One was a remnant we purchased from the store for $35 and the other was a leftover piece he had from a job! :thumbsup2 ) It's nice to "have people" :rolleyes1

Oh..thanks....didn't remember that? (sorry)

I'll stick with the candy bars but they are so hard to keep lit!

I think I would like to see you prove that :scratchin

 ouch...that is a shame for your wife... :sad2: I'd say it was an 'accident' too vs 'eating'

Nothing to do with teeth, but when DH was trying to get me to go out with him, he had come back from his brothers wedding in FL with a butterfly bandage on his forehead (just over eyebrow). Of course I asked what happened and he told me "surfing accident". Come to find out years later, he was tossing a baseball with his young nephew down there, and nephew whipped it at him and the ball hit him there and cut him! He was embarrassed and didn't want to tell me truth :rotfl:

Barb, did you book something yet for your summer trip?

SW out of PHL is $99 one way for my dates ....not sure about your dates :confused3 (sentcha a PM)

now wait a minute...I checked PIT to MCO and your air was $9 cheaper than mine! I know the weekends are more because I checked our flight down on a Saturday (vs. Thursday when we go) and it was $149 instead of $99....so, yep, I'm guessing higher on weekends.... (BUT, we're coming home the last flight on a Saturday and that is only $99 too?? ...maybe cuz we stay MORE than a week? :confused3 )

Janet...you completely lost me on this one. :rotfl:

Tim Curry voiced part of Alien Encounter at WDW...not MIB. He was in the beginning of the attraction but I can't remember what his character was. I think he was the monster they showed in the clear tube. I think the character's name was "Sir".

ha - brain becoming hard-wired to Universal:eek: ; okay...
thinking back to alien encounter...all remember was it was scary & cool; although i have a fondness in my heart for

barb - betcha you'll get DINGs out the wazhoo:wizard: a good thing despite how it sounds:rotfl: ; i've never seen a weekend have less that $89+ out of PIT...think the lowest weekday was $69+

of course, i only check end of june/beg July; Oct & early Dec; so the other times could be different?

i need (SW) luv...i'm all shook up:dance3:

I sentcha a PM regarding PIT rates at MCO.... cheapie cheapie.... *What was that you mentioned about SW and 'luv'ing Philly??

I forgot to put in the dates of our travel in my PM (6/26 & 7/12)

I was so bummed today ... a few years ago, I was in a boating accident. One of the consequences was that I broke a tooth in half. Today of all days, the cap decided to come off. So, I call my dentist who I really don't even like very much. The receptionist was all "I can get you in on 1/31."

I'm all "Thanks anyway, I'll just have to find someone else. This is one of my front teeth, and I'm not waiting 3 weeks."

She's all, "Oh, OK then, how is 3:15 tomorrow?" :rolleyes1

Unbelievable Jodie - did she really think you wanted to walk around like that for 3 weeks?

Well......
I finally got GREAT NEWS!!!!!
DH's job is going PERMANENT!!!!!!! :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :cheer2: :dancer: :dancer: party: :rockband: :jumping1:
He just got offered the job permanently from his boss/CEO late this afternoon!! There was quick talk of it on Monday w/ boss and DH, but not offered on Monday, it was kinda a tease on Monday. He is offered $2,000 less than what he asked for originally, but that's ok, we'll survive. It's still all good!! :) DH will be on their payroll as of Wed of next week. He is on the temp payroll til Tues.

So it is finally official!!
Gee, it took 5 months to go permanent, couldn't go any quicker,ya think?
Now I can officially start planning a UO/WDW vacation!!:cool1: :dance3: :woohoo:

Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts throughout these past 5 months, it was very appreciated!!!:thanks: :disrocks:
I was kinda on wits end with all this and I was ready to go over there and slap this guy around :headache: It was so emotionally draining on me and DH (mostly me).

THank you all!!! :flower3:

Rose - That is the bestest news!!! :yay: :yay:

I started planning our next camping trip. Yes, we camp and we don't have one of those 100,000 campers. We ride 4 wheelers and dirt bikes (actually, dh was only a year away from pro earlier in his life). Our girls have all been riding dirt bikes since they were 5 years old. . . riding bicycles without training wheels since 3. . . and now they have 4 wheelers. DD15 rides a dirt bike, DD's 11 & 4 ride 4 wheelers, dh rides FAST dirt bikes and your truly rides a big pis%$ed off 4 wheeler. We have a hauler that converts to a camper with 2 queen size beds, but alas, no shower or bathroom. It is heated and air conditioned though. So I only go camping if there are nice bathroom and shower facilities. We've reserved our campsite for June 12 - 16. . . Father's Day weekend. My dh can ride until his butt can't take it no more. I don't get sore butt, my wheeler rides like a Caddy (plus I have some extra padding of my own - and no, it's not charmin stuffed down my pants!). Last time we went camping, I lost 12 pounds in 4.5 days. . . we usually only eat 2x a day and we get TONS of exercise. . . walk to the bathroom, walk to the showers, walk to the laundry, all the work to keep up camp, not to mention all the riding. It's funny. . . my dd8 will ride hell-bent all day through sand, mud, water, dirt, be filthy & muddy helmet to boots, hop off her wheeler and demand I take her immediately to the showers because she's just got to wash her hair:dance3:

So anyway, it's tons of fun and such a wonderful, wholesome family getaway. . . . we pray together. . . play together. . . stay together. Any other dirt biking, 4 wheeling, NASCAR fans out there?? (I know, I know, can you say redneck??)

What state do you go camping in? That sounds like a lot of fun for your family. :thumbsup2 We used to go camping when the kids were younger. We hiked quite a few mountains in the White Mt Range in New Hampshire. There is this one Mt in Maine called Tumbledown that has a large pond at the top amid a bunch of boulders. Its pretty cool! We had a 4 wheeler years ago when we lived more in the country. It was alot of fun. There was this whole network of trails. You could ride all the way to Canada if you wanted.

Stopped by to say hi to all the homies and say my eye is doing a little better and swelling is going down slowly and DW is doing a little better but her mother is acting like stranger toward DW since she was told the home she lived in with DW's grandmother will be turned over to her and is acting like she is better than everyone and to beat it all the house is a dump .
well enough venting for me and if I don't get back on tonight everyone have a great evening.

I'm kinda confused! Is the house going to your DW or your MIL? I think it's going to your MIL, that is way she is acting all hoity toity. Aren't relatives fun! :rolleyes1

And speaking of having to book right on time, I was cleaning off the kitchen counter today and found DS' Road Test information. It said you can book your road test online, up to 11 weeks in advance. Since he wants to go in 8 weeks, I figured I'd check and see what worked with our schedule. Well, he's eligible as of March 2, and when I input the entire month of March, it basically just laughed at me! You want to take a road test somewhere within an hour of Green Bay? Should have booked 3 weeks ago moron!

I spent 2 hours looking up all the possible little cities - evidently if you live in the boonies of WI, there's no problem booking, but NOTHING near here. I could find nothing on Fridays (well, that wasn't 4 hours away), which is the only day I'm off. So I finally booked him on a Thursday (will have to make up hours and he'll have to miss school) morning, down just north of Milwaukee! :confused3 And they had exactly 2 time slots left for the whole month - one at 9 and one at 9:20. That's it! Mac - want to drive up and meet me for breakfast while I wait?! ;)

I'm just amazed! I'd heard from people you had to book early, but I didn't know it all booked up each day, 11 weeks out, within minutes. I guess now I do for the next kids. Why not add more testers? I just don't get it! Now he'd BETTER not fail the test, because it'll be another 2 months before I can get him in to test again!

We don't even get to pick a date or time. You send in the form and 2 weeks later they send you your date that is usually another 4 weeks out. If you don't like the date or time you have to start all over again and hope for a better one. So basically, you have no choice but to take time off from work and school. It's hard to believe James has had his license for almost a year now. No accidents yet, knock on wood. If a teenager is stopped for any reason and given a citation, its an automatic license suspension for 30 days, until you have had your license for 1 year. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I'll stick with the candy bars but they are so hard to keep lit!

[ When I started smoking you could 3 packs and a can of Mt. Dew at the gas station for $1 and now I think it's cheaper to smoke dope.

I have had some interesting toilet time because of the little pill.

DM- I lose 6-8 pounds every morning.

You are a very funny individual!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I didn't know. . .

I'm in my office and had to get up and shut my door because I couldn't control my giggling anymore. . .then everyone wants to come in and know what's so funny. . . and I don't feel like sharing today!:yay:

What state do you go camping in?

Our favorite place is in Missouri, at one of their state parks. It is called St. Joe's. . . but everyone around who rides calls it Flat River. Its got hundreds of acres to ride; literally hundreds of different trails; lots of sand, water, lakes to fish if you want, wildlife and it a beautiful park. Every day is a different ride. Plus the showers and bathrooms are separate, which I really like and they are very nice. They also never seem to run out of hot water:thumbsup2 It's so much fun! No hiking for me, though lots of people do. . . too scared of ticks and stuff. I don't wear hats, so I try to stay out from under trees and such (my hair is way long. . . to my buttushki) so I can't shove it under a hat. . . . unless of course I borrow from Cat in the Hat and pile it up like Marge Simpson.:rotfl2:
