Marathon Weekend 2026

I would really like to buy a pair (or two) of the brooks shoes for my wife for her birthday/next christmas. Anyone able to help? I will of course pay for your trouble.

ETA: I will be down there for spring time suprise and could trade pickups also!

If you don't get any takers, Brooks will put the shoes that aren't sold out on their site within a week or so after the expo ends. Sign up for their emails to get notified as they don't make a big announcement and it doesn't show up on their home page. Only a few styles have sold through enough at the expo to not make the site sale afterward.

Actually the Brooks area is really well organized and they do a great job of stocking for demand. It IS in the building where you need a VQ on day one, but they won't run out of shoes if you don't want to deal with the crowds. There's a dedicated line just for the Brooks shoes. You fill out a simple order sheet, take it to an open counter, they retrieve and check the shoes with you, pay and leave. It's honestly SUPER easy and even if the line is long, it moves fast.
This was my experience as well at SS.

Can someone remind me how the virtual queue has worked in the past? Is it only the first day, and has it typically been needed all day? I’m scheduled to arrive Wednesday afternoon, and depending on if everything is on time, would probably go to the expo right away (which would mean evening time frame). If I wanted to get shoes and have to pick up preordered merchandise, could I get in there at that point without a virtual queue spot? Or can I join the virtual queue later in the day?

I’m really hoping to get a pair of the castle shoes! The Brooks I use are Glycerins, so I don’t know if Ghosts would work for me for running, but want them at least for parks/walking. :)

The purchase experience was very smooth for both the SS and W&D, though I didn’t purchase any shoes at the W&D because I didn’t see anything I liked. I bought the Mickey shoes at the SS and even exchanged them on Saturday after our 10k because I got the wrong size. Again the experience was smooth as butter. My wife and I didn’t get into the Chicago marathon so we’re aiming for the 2027 Disney marathon. Our neighbor across the street is doing the Dopey challenge this year. Can’t wait to debrief her when she gets back.

I always get to the expo on Wednesday afternoon around 3pm, and the virtual queue is long gone by then. You shouldn’t have any problems.

So I’ve ridden Everest before during the Marathon, but I’m thinking about adding ToT to my repertoire this year. Is there a way they’ll let you skip the preshow or are you in it for the whole thing?

You need to be within a ~45mi radius of the expo to join the queue. There is an 8:30am drop and a 1:00pm drop to get in the queue. After the first day no VQ is needed to get in, there's just a line (and likely a short or non-existent one.)

They're doing 2 separate VQ drops which is new for WDW as far as I know. Maybe they had it for W&D? I feel like maybe they had 2 for the DL races. I don't know if this means that they VQ will hit capacity and people will be shut out in the morning and need to try again in the afternoon. Either way, this is not something they had last year, and I'm not sure walk-up on day 1 will still be "a thing" until later in the day.

at what temperature does Florida humidity go from making everything feel colder to making everything feel warmer? I’m eyeing the marathon forecast with concern.

for me, that's around 72-75 degrees. But I am a person with chronically low iron who is cold all the time. We arrive Sunday afternoon when the temperatures are forecast to be around 70. I will wear pants and bring a sweatshirt to MK.

For W&D they also had 2 virtual queues for the first day. But it was only for the runDisney merch and Brooks shoes. You can still enter the main expo without a VQ spot. We were actually in a checkout line when we I got into the 1pm VQ opening. The time slot I got was for after 2:30 and I had two very hangry teens with me who only wanted to grab some food and sit by the pool so we passed. I hit it up on Saturday because I wanted some car magnets.

Rode it last year and had to do pre-show. But they DID let runners in the LL lane, unlike EE….which had a 20 posted wait time that was a LIE. Ask me if I’m still salty………😂

Last year they were letting runners into LL. But you still had to do the library etc. it took me about 25 minutes from getting in line to exiting back on to the course.

Brooks rD!!
I am already beyond the question of how many pair of (Disney) shoes is reasonable to have… but do I really need another Mickey Mouse pair?

i recall a basic advice on how to choose running shoes: “it is not about the look, but the fit (and your feet)”…. However if there are ears, castles or MM shapes/ autograph,… then.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ … worst case… more park shoes… which means I have to go to the parks more often right? (Disney math always gets me) 🤣
