I lost mine 2 days before Christmas and always seem to remember that but my Momma was sometime in April? Maybe? It's harder when its around a holiday. Dec. 7th is a tough day for me because of the stories Daddy would share with just me, not the family, about Pearl Harbor. I think it's OK to miss them for the rest of your life because I know I will.

If not Pittsburg? What is the ideal city? I love the weather here but I've always wanted to live in Austin, Texas. No farther north!

Austin? Why would anyone want to live in Longhorn City?????? Just kidding. I have only drivin through, never spent any time there. It would be to hot for me though!

I will be leaving this wretched state after the kids are done with school so I need to find a new place too!

I got an email today from Bubba Gumps. Here is the info; We know you love our smoothies! Here's a great reason to share the love.

Right now, when you purchase a $75 Gift Card you can receive a complimentary "Gump Card" worth $25!

If anyone would like me to forward it to them pm me.

My dad talked about Pearl Harbor too. He was only 10 when the attack occurred, so it made quite an impression on him.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Pittsburgh, I've just never heard anyone talk about it as their goal. "When I win the lottery, I'm going to _____" (I've never heard anyone fill in the blank with Pittsburgh).

I like where I am now. I like to see all the seasons. It gets hot in the summer, cool in the fall, cold in the winter, and warm in the spring. We get pretty flowers and green grass and colorful leaves and sometimes (once or twice a year) snow. Suits me fine. I don't think it is the perfect location for everyone... nowhere is.

I'm not sure there is a perfect city for me. If it's not the weather, it's the traffic... if it's not the traffic, it's the housing... if it's not the housing, it's something else.

:rolleyes1 Pittsburgh is perfection:banana: (least Rand McNally has agreed with me twice:lmao: ). The true best kept secret; low crime rate, affordable housing, excellent hospitals; universities (Pitt, CMU, RMU, Duquesne); most major sports teams, low crime rate....and KENNYWOOD:)

actually, very few people choose to live in Pittsburgh "proper" aka dawntawn...large 'burb population though

mac - dh said he'd kick me out of the house if i ever mentioned WAPASDI again.:scared1: U were a great team-mate & ally:banana: u had my back:thumbsup2

lori - i'm in sticker shock over DL, family has outvoted me...airfare for May is near $300 pp on SW.:sad2:
PIT weather usually sux in the winter, today it's over 70:cheer2:

Hi to all - just a quick scan thru posts, chasing my tail...

1st turkey cooking as i type, smells good...mickeyDs for dinner tonight @ this ra te.
final "red-up" is commencing...5-4-3-2-1:hourglass

If i don't make it back...

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Lori!

I hope that things go okay for your DD and DGD. When she grabs her jaw and you know it hurts, maybe you could just say something like, "Does that hurt? Did anything happen to your jaw? We might need to get it looked at." I dunno. Something that would give her the opening to talk, but not coming right out and asking if someone did something to her. Such a difficult situation.

Looking at your list reminded me to put the can of Oceanspray cranberry sauce in the fridge. I don't eat it, but others expect it. Oh, and we'll have crescent rolls... the kind that come in the can you whack on the counter.

We have deer sometimes in our pasture. That's not the same as a WOLF! Didn't they do a big release them back into the wild project? So they are a protected species or something? I don't know how far away from others you are, but if it is an area where you could get caught shooting them use caution.

My FIL used to sit in the open doorway of his house and shoot squirrels. Why? Because they were getting on his birdfeeders. I told him, "The squirrels don't know they are BIRD feeders. It looks like squirrel food to them! How is shooting them going to keep them off the feeders? Do you think the dead squirrel will come back as a ghost and tell his buddies to stay away from your yard?" I don't think it stopped him from shooting the critters, but at least I didn't have to hear the death toll everytime we went to visit. (i.e. "Got 3 on Monday, 4 on Tuesday, but only 2 yesterday.")

Way to crack that whip on hubby! If mine wasn't working, he'd be right here in the thick of this cleaning crap with me. Speaking of which...

Brad asked me to make a sign for the door of the office saying that we'd be closed for Thanksgiving. Oh, yeah. I forgot. So, I quick print up a sign that we'll be closed Thursday thru Sunday. We're always closed for the long weekend. He looks at me and says, "Oh... well... ummm... I'm going to be open on Friday & Saturday. I've got people coming in to pick up a repair job trailer on Friday and some people said they might come on Saturday to look at trailers." I give him the look. You know, the you're-in-deep-doo-doo look. He clears his throat and says, "This probably isn't the best time to mention that I agreed to move a trailer on Sunday afternoon, is it..."

So much for my holiday weekend with the whole family together. :sad2:

Thak you to all with the photobucket info last night.

I did the right thing.
:rolleyes1

I walked away from the bloody computer before one of us had a heart/harddrive attack :surfweb:

my red rasberry pie is in the oven....
who needs dinner anyway?????????????

Tricia - Sure sounds like you will be busy. I know I DO NOT want to trade with you. No one will blame you for sneaking into the vino early. I am content with just making a few desserts and buying 2-litre pop (soda for some of you).

I'm glad Carol will be there.

I don't think I've ever, in my entire life, heard of anyone who's goal in life was to move to Pittsburgh.
:lmao: Since we are about 2 hours south of Pittsburgh - this is the BIG CITY to us. Actually, after college I thought about Pittsburgh or Washington D.C. But alas, love stepped in and fiance didn't want to leave his family. Good thing the marriage worked out - 20 years and counting!!!!

Seriously, Pittsburgh would be great for career - just starting out. If I win the lottery, I will visit the 'burgh for Steelers and Pirates games. But, no way is that my ultimate goal. I think I will move with Barb to Florida!:cool1:

-Jennifer-

oh, mac is in the exchange also.

Mac - Count me in on the ornament exchange. Am I supposed to be pming you my address? :confused3

I'm back from my mini vacation. We had a great time, well, minus DH getting the 24 hour bug.

I'll try and "ketchup" on everything I missed around here in the next few days.

Off to bake a few pies, make crab dip and bread bowl, and a veggie tray all by bedtime! :lmao:

Hi everyone.

I hope that y'all will give me a pass for not responding to everyone individually. Wish I had the grace and fortitude to thank each of you for your kind words and emails and PMs. I truly know that I have a lot of friends on the board, and I do thank you so very much for that.

I have my lucid moments. Then I have my not-so-lucid moments. Poor Alex. We haven't let him out of our sight. I thank God that he is amenable to being held and cuddled or I'm not sure what I'd do. We are very nervous though, as we leave on Friday for a 10-day trip, but we have folks on call to make sure he's entertained.

Anyway, Mike and I are busy getting ready to host the holiday here. I'm sure everyone else is getting ready for the holiday too. Please have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday tomorrow. Count your blessings, and know that I consider you all among my blessings.

Oh, and Janet and Tracie ... if you're reading, hope we get to see you next weekend. We supposedly have been promised 6065 at the HRH. We'll see if Mr. Hudson is true to his word.

Thanks again, everyone. Your thoughtfulness and prayers have really helped. And I'm not just saying that.

Happy Thanksgiving. xx

just had to sneak back & dance:banana: :dance3: dh tells me it's 10 more days 'till we hop on that plane:wizard: no whammys!

i'm tired, my feet hurt...

can't decide if i want a piece of pumpkin pie or a beer, the thought of them together makes me queasy.

jodie - just saw your post, our other kitty, who here-to-for was a very quiet one, now roams the house at night yowling (as only a siamese can do) Too bad he & my mom's cat detest each other:confused3 Give your kitty an extra hug - he'll be fine:thumbsup2 Don't know enough about the HRH to know if that's a primo room, hope so! i'm just hoping that our room @ RPR has enough beds this time lol...since it's free, it's for me. We're going to try & hit NBA on our way out of the park...sometime after 6 on Saturday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My house is almost clean. My food is half cooked. My bottle of wine is still unopened.

I'm going to be a busy girl today, as I'm sure all of you are, so I just wanted to drop in first thing and wish you a good day. :goodvibes

I'll second that.....

Happy
Thanksgiving

everyone!

Enjoy the day, enjoy stuffing yourself full of great food, enjoy the company and remember to stop, look around, and be thankful for it all!!!!

Good morning all!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all the homies here!!

I am very Thankful for all of you... your friendship!! THank you SO much!!!
Especially thankful to Mac for starting this thread!!!
And thanking all of you for listening to my sorrows, vents, dramas, and joys!!!

I'm sorry I can't catch up here. I have a few pages to catch up on. Have to read them later. Was out part of the day yesterday, had to take Chrissy out of school for hte speech eval for social security disability determination. Had some phone calls to make to family yesterday about other things.

We were going to stay home all day today and make Thanksgiving dinner here, for just us, but got invited over to DH's brother and SIL for Thanksgiving dinner at the last minute. Going there later htis afternoon, as dinner doesn't start there til 5pm. May go out this morning. We stayed home last yr all day for Thanksgiving, as we weren't invited anywhere for Thanskgiving last yr. My mom doesn't cook, hasn't cooked Thanksgiving meal in many yrs. My mom and dad are having Thaskgiving meal at lunchtime with my grandma. Just having lunch trays there, whatever hte nursing home is having, they will have. Sounds icky to me, but this is what my parents want to do. Since my dad is not feeling that well, as of eating, he won't be eating that much anyways.
My SIL, has this dog(Cujo jr.- I call it).It is a Toy Collie I think, but not always that friendly. Chrissy is very afraid of dogs in general. And SIL won't lock up the dog in a room while guests are there. So we'll have to see what comes of this, as we have had this problem with SIL for many yrs on this dog issue and Chrissy. SIL's dog and SIL think they are queen of my BIL's castle! I know most of you are dog lovers, so I hope I don't offend anyone here. SIL and I had exchanged nasty emails on this issue last yr, or she had started the nasty emails, but last Spring she apologized via a note in the mail. My SIL and my other SIL(DH's sister) think it's Chrissy's fault,. that Chrissy is afraid, and Chrissy has to get used to it  :sad2: So...we'll see what happens tonight........
Can't always pick your extended family, you know

Ok, gotta run.
If I'm not back today, have a great Thanksgiving to all!!!
