I was doing fine this morning.

I just got an email from a well-meaning friend who said, "I was thinking about you today and I hope you aren't dwelling on the anniversary."

My father died one year ago today.

I'm not dwelling, but he was my Daddy and I miss him.

I'm going to go clean something. I've put it off long enough. I have to go pretend I'm a responsible adult. I hate that.

You were doing fine because you remembered and were busy with stuff...or you were doing fine cuz you didn't remember (which, I can't see)? Nice she thought of you...she's a good friend.

Oh, I remembered. It just touched me that she remembered too. That would be my BFF. You might remember her from the "Prom" party pictures. She & I were singing Summer Lovin' to each other.

It brought all that emotion simmering down below up to the surface. Probably not a bag thing. Gotta let it out sometime.

I'll go clean like a big girl now. I can blame the red eyes on the bleach fumes.

Hi all! Bye all! Trying to get to bed before it's too late so we can get out of here early tomorrow to hopefully miss the snow/slush/mess in Chicago. Yeah, I know that's impossible but maybe it'll only be kinda-bad at 11am instead of God-awful-horrible by later in the day? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Anyways, all of you have a great Thanksgiving and I'll catch you afterwards. Grandma only has very slow AOL dialup at her house so I doubt we'll be online there! If we get a good wifi connection, I'll drop in and say hi; otherwise, we'll see you Sunday (or whenever I get a chance afterwards!).

as long as you get thru chi town by 1:30 today, you will miss the worse of the weather. it is supposed to get horrid by 3 today.

Hey everyone!

Well leaving tomorrow right after school to head to the DF's house in NJ for Thanksgiving lunch and then be back on Thanksgiving, for dinner with my family.

Gotta be up at 5 tomorrow so just want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Geez - its 2am here and I can't sleep. I am blaming it on the Pepsi I had about 4pm. I tried to cut out the caffeine about 2 years ago - now if I drink cola after 3pm, I sleep about 2-3 hours and will be up for about 2 hours.

Oh well, at least I don't have to work.

Penny - You should get National Treasure - it is a great movie - I am waiting for Part 2 to come out. I did see Windtalkers and it is pretty good also - just not a comedy/adventure - more of a drama - makes you think.

Barb - you woke up to lite snow - we had 60 degrees yesterday.

I love the Community Board - I don't usually post, but it is a hoot to read. Always gives me a good laugh or 2.

On the schedule for today:

Make apple pie (if the boys haven't eaten all the apples I bought)
Make dressing
Make dressing (I'm doing both the kind I like and the kind everyone else eats)
Make pumpkin pie(s)
Wash my grandmother's china that only gets used a few times a year
Clean house
Clean house
Clean house (with both boys home, it'll be a contest to see if I can get ahead of them in the cleaning)

On the schedule for tomorrow:

Bake turkey
Make macaroni & cheese (Joshua's request... and I tried to cheat and bought a box of Kraft... but he spotted it and gave me "the frown" and told me he didn't want the box kind, he wants the Mommy kind...)
Steam broccoli (gotta throw something green in there with all those starch dishes)
Make mashed potatoes
Make gravy (two kinds... turkey and brown...)
Make cheese sauce (for broccoli... can't have it *too* healthy)
Make squash casserole
Bake pecan pie (Edwards frozen... I refuse to make my own when theirs tastes as good if not better...)
Prepare for the invasion

Maybe in July! I have a 30 year old friend here that says if he wins the lottery he is going to move to Pittsburg. I told him to take a $100K of it and travel these great United States before making up his mind.

Jennifer....I do the SAME thing with caffeine. I don't drink any, but when I do, I go "a mile a minute"...actually, I've been told I'm quite funny! Apparently I can't sit still and I talk a mile a minute!! So, yes, your insomnia is due to the caffeine!

Oh, and the talking to yourself thing. Is that bad? I do it all the time. Out loud. Joshua has gotten to where he'll say, "Are you talking to me this time or to nobody again."

I lost mine 2 days before Christmas and always seem to remember that but my Momma was sometime in April? Maybe? It's harder when its around a holiday. Dec. 7th is a tough day for me because of the stories Daddy would share with just me, not the family, about Pearl Harbor. I think it's OK to miss them for the rest of your life because I know I will.

If not Pittsburg? What is the ideal city? I love the weather here but I've always wanted to live in Austin, Texas. No farther north!

Janet - I am trying to weasel my way out of DL and go back to Florida this summer. Don't know if it will work but I'm tryin. Wish I could do both!

Katie - You have safe travels too. We have had T'days that involved 4 dinners in one day! And traveld about 250 miles to get to all of them. I am so glad those days are over.

To all those I have not posted to individually I am sorry. I am really just trying to post from memory and don't have the time to go back to respond to everything I have not responded to. I am thinking of all of you, you're kinda like an extended part of the family here. Sure wish I could explain this special bond we have created.

Just wanted to update on the DGD. I had her for a while yesterday evening. Her face didn't look really swollen to me but while eating a chewable spree she grabbed at her jaw. I really can't tell if it is from a sinus infection or if there is a fracture? She does have a very swollen lymph node behind that ear so I am really hoping that it is just the infection. I would hate to think that her dad, his girlfriend or his mother hit her. There is really no way to ask her either so we will just have to wait and see how she is by the weekend.

On another note, my house is looking very clean!!!! I am so glad DH volunteered me to cook Thanksgiving dinner! Hee, hee, hee! He is doing a fabulous job! I know, I am bad! The carpets even got cleaned yesterday!

So this evening I will be cooking the pumpkin pies but will do all the rest tomorrow morning. I hate to cook it ahead of time & when we built our house we had to ovens put in so I can do it all in the morning!

Pecan Pie (glad to hear the Edwards pies are good cause that's what I got)

DH said to leave out the Sweet Potatoes & Cranberry sauce (I have a really great recipe for that but not many will eat it). I may go ahead and pick up some sweet potatoes today though, seems kinda strange not to have them * I know FIL & MIL like them. AM I missing something here?

We had an interesting morning today, our beagle started going nuts about 10. IF you have never had or been around a beagle when they are tracking something they let out this awful yelp, sounding like they are hurt, and then continue to yelp like that while they are running it down. Well this morning he lets out this yelp, yes we can hear it from inside the house, and then stands at the back door doing it with his tail between his legs. Obviously this was not something he wanted to go after. I go out to see what he is watching and there are 4 huge coyotes out in the field! It is not normal for coyotes to be out in broad daylight. DH of course takes his sweet time getting dressed and doesn't get out there in time to shoot them. So now I have to wonder when they are coming back. Hopefully DS will be ready to go next time and he can go get rid of them before they get a dog or calf.

Well, I guess I better head out. Everyone have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!
