Okay I don't want to hear any of you complaining about your homeowners insurance any more. Our's is $138/month! Our property taxes are $1680 for the year.

Janet - Glad you had a great turkey day. We had very little in the left over department.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving with mom & dad then we are finally done. It has been so nice and relaxing yesterday & today I am wishing we didn't have to go. On the bright side I am getting rid of half the crap my mom has stored in my oldest dd's old bedroom (mom's Christmas decorations). She sold her big house 3 years ago and has had one room in my house full of stuff ever since. She is going to decorate at dad's this year. Maybe it will all be gone in a few months!

Talk to you all later!

Todd - the prices you quoted made my head spin. I browsed the home listings last trip & almost fainted...@ least a quarter of a million $ for something you could get in Pittsburgh for 80 -100 K:scared1: . Never again will i complain about my homeowners (around $400?). Did you decide if you're heading to Universal next Saturday? let me know:) found out DH will be working until 12:15 am that day, figure he should just stay awake since we'll be leaving around 4 am:laughing: he's a trooper
Yup..the housing market went through the roof..haha..in 2005 and the damn sellers down here keep thinking people are going to pay those ridiculous prices for their homes...NOT! I'm planning on going to Universal on 12/1 but can't confirm yet. Send me a PM with your cell # and we'll talk before you leave...cool?

Uh...wow....ours was just under $300 for the year
That's the joy of living in Florida post 2005. The counties got greed with the property taxes and the *$(*%&^# insurance companies got greedy with their policies. They either raise your rates by 70% or cancel you for NO reason.

ask for the sign for Xmas:thumbsup2

 musta been cuz of all that rain this year? That IS expensive homeowners...but your taxes make up for it....ours have more than doubled in the 13 years we've lived here....we are over $2400 :sad2: (& I live in a 'cheap' county...in the burbs :confused3 )

That will be nice to 'reclaim' a bedroom..... place to store YOUR stuff then ;)

Yep...DH's uncle lives in Niceville, Fl (panhandle area)... he insurance company dropped him after many many years...for NO reason :confused3 :headache: Especially if you live in the "hurricane prone" coastal areas, those insurance companies tend to 'stick it to ya' :sad2:

Well maybe it is the size of our house, it's 2400 sq ft? An I thought our property taxes were bad, guess I won't complain about that any more.

I am so ready for her stuff to be out of here you can't imagine! It is supposed to be my office!

My property taxes are approximately $1250 for a 1,100 sq ft house. The vote is coming in January for some tax relief but it's not a good thing so I'm going to vote no. Right now...the homestead exemption of $25K off the assessed value is limited to a 3% increase a year...no matter what the house is assessed at. BUT...the new exemption would be $50K off the assessed value but they would tax you at the market value. So...the first year would save quite a bit but the second year would really stick it to ya.

Morning! Just got up and have to head off to swim practice.

Sorry about our chat last night! I fell asleep and woke up at 3:43 am and was like, the computer is still on???

oh......be very careful when you type things like that.
i lost my universal is kewl tag and it was replaced with the drool tag cause i posted how i feel asleep on the keyboard one night..............

It's a little chilly this morning and we have no plans to go anywhere, so I'm just sitting here in sweat pants and a sweat shirt. The pants are Mickey Mouse. The shirt is Universal.

Is that wrong? :confused3

I think I have you all beat here in Maine. 2800 SF house. Property taxes are $5,500. Homeowners around $800. Car insurance is nuts. We have 5 cars that we insure, also have one teenager on the policy and we pay $515 a month with a $1,000 deductable.

my property taxes are $9557.00 a year.
since i applied and get the homestead exemption, i have $5000 knocked off my tax bill.

do the math.
it's still a lot of money each year.

i pay more based on sq footage.

don't get me started on car insurance.
i have 2 underage males on my policy.

can you say $3500 addition for son per year on my policy........

You have GOT to be kidding! That's UNREAL! :scared1:

todd, we talked about our taxes at hhn that night.
i think you said the same thing then as now..............

or were you just agreeing with me due to the loudness of the night there....
:rolleyes1

Nope, I'll stay in Maine, your weather isn't much better than mine!
I hope your boys are helping to pay for that insurance.

sharon, did you say 5 cars???

um, i don't have that many..........

Each kid has one, DH and I each have one, plus we have one fun car that we only drive during the summer. It makes for a very crowded driveway. 3 of the cars have garage space. The kids don't think its fair that they have to keep their cars outside in the snow. Yeah right, I don't feel sorry for them. :lmao:

Hey everyone!

Yea, I didn't fall in the potty, just konked out. Lots of decorating the last 2 days, going to finish up tomorrow and I will have to show you the end results.

Hey, question for the ornament exchange....does everyone here celebrate Christmas? Just wanted to make sure...

Well going to sleepies...catch ya tomorrow!

Got 500 thread count sheets today @ Kmart for $35 - hope they're decent one for a present, one for us . I'm bad, usually buy my own presents from DH - he's not a shopper...otherwise i get nada or $ thrown in a card. I do make him wrap them, so I can manage to look surprised when i see what's under the wrappings lol.
One of the reasons I went out at 5am was to get 1,000 thread count sheets at Elder Beerman for $80. This was a purchase for me along with new pillows, mattress topper and comforter. I am not wrapping them, will be on the bed by next weekend. And I also purchased two "presents" for myself at the video game store - I knew Hubby would rather save money instead of "surprising" me.

Barb - My DH also insists on a "list" every year. He is one who wants me to give him a detailed list, but says "I don't want anything. I am telling you now, - don't buy me anything." One of the years, I am going to do just that!!!!

For several years, DH buys me pots and pans and cookware - (I never put these on the list). He thinks he is being nice and thoughtful. The funny thing is with my work hours, I seldom am home early enough to cook supper. And I am not very domestic anyway. He does most of the cooking, but buys ME the cookware.

Oh my gosh I can not believe you guys property taxes!:scared1:  :headache:  And any other smilies that apply! Out homestead exemption is a whopping $1000 off the value of the home. Woo Hoo!

Just had to add DS to our policy & his insurance increased our premium by about $100/month. Don't remember exactlly what it is off the top of my head.

I want to know what Tricia's area is like. I think that is the part of the country I want to move to. The pics I saw of it were beautiful. Actually when we got home from ouir last trip my family, sister, mom & dad all said we could move somewhere in that region. Tricia want some new neighbors? We aren't to crazy! :rolleyes1
