My daughter (12) wants a Sodastream for Christmas. I went to the company website and found the information on the different units kind of difficult to understand. Any recommendations on which unit I should get? Easy for her to use would be good. Thanks!

What is it with 12 yr old girls and Sodatstream??? LOL...my dd12 is getting one as well! She's wanted if for a couple of years.

I got her the basic one that Kohl's sells. It was on sale for $89.99 and then an extra 10% off brought it to $80 and then I had a 30% off code so I paid $60 with tax. :cool1: That's the only reason I ended up getting it for her, no way was I paying 90 bucks for the thing.

Bed bath and beyond has a large supply of accessories and I think they do have the different models. But really I think the basic would be just fine.

FYI unless you come across a deal like I found, I haven't seen any significant fluctuation in price. Everyone seems to sell it for around the same cost.

If you're not going to get a spare CO2 cartridge to have around, I'd get the Sodstream with the gauge that shows how much fizz you've put in and how much CO2 you have left.

I only have the one CO2 cartridge and I hate starting to fizz a bottle only to find out I'm out of CO2.

The basic one (fountain jet I think) will take the larger carbonators which will work out cheaper in the end. I order them online 2 at a time and that helps with the cost. I drink about 2-3 liters a day and the carbonator lasts almost 4 months. I mainly drink the seltzer either plain or with a splash of juice (we like the Trop50 Blueberry/Pomegranate). Much better than most of their sodamixes :)

Now my kids are starting to use my machine too and we are constantly refilling and chilling bottles of water (it "fizzes" better when cold). The sodastream website has a good comparison feature to look at the different machines.

Thanks for all of the suggestions of things to look at and think about. I appreciate it!
