So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Who's with me?

I am in the same boat as most of you in that I was really upset when Jeannette went home. I almost don't even care who wins now. I have not liked Melissa from day one (she reminds me of a prima ballerina who thinks she is all that and is not) and the judges have been partial to Kayla for some reason. I guess at this point I am pulling for Jeannine, although she has just recently begun to grow on me. Brandon is the most talented, Evan the most likable and Ade is fun, but needs to go. I really am still bummed about Jeannette and if Melissa ends up in the top four, I will scream.

That's my two cents.

Wow, checked in to see what others thought about the show last night only to find out I'm definitely in the minority. First of all, the dancer I thought was head and shoulders above the rest went home last week -- Jeannette. (Kind of ironic because I was aggravated when she made the top 20).

I also believe Jason shouldn't have left because I think he was the strongest guy this season. Sure, maybe Evan has been carefully handled in the sense of which dances he gets, but after the openly rude & nasty comments he's received, I say give the guy a break. I do believe he's got a future waiting for him on Broadway and that will be his reward, not winning.

I thought the standing ovation and comment last night was completely inappropriate after Brandon's solo. If the judges wanted to stand, so be it. Just don't put it on camera & then comment on its superiority when no other solos have been given critiques immediately after performance. During tonight's recap the judges could have definitely remarked how vastly superior they found his solo -- and Cat could have let us in on what the cameras didn't show us last night, the standing O.

I thought last night was a complete set-up for the finale final two -- Brandon#1, Kayla#2. I'm very disappointed in both. Kayla dances with the emotional depth of a teaspoon & Brandon isn't much better at relating emotionally to the music or the audience -- rippling muscles notwithstanding.

In my heart of hearts at this point I'd like to see Jeanine take the title, but once again she drew fairly short straws as far as which routines she got. At least the hip hop from Tabitha & Napoleon was finally a different energy than they've been giving with their choreography this entire season -- but who in the heck decided to dress them matchy matchy when they're roommates being evicted? :confused3

:worship::worship:
Couldn't have said it better myself.:rolleyes1

I can't believe this season is almost over and now I find this thread...!!

First of all, I'm an ex-dancer. I danced for 20 years and stopped this past year when I started working full time as a teacher.

I absolutely love Evan. I think he's adorable and I love his style. Is he the greatest all-around dancer? No. But there's something about him.

I'm in the minority but I love Melissa. She's a gorgeous dancer who truly has adapted to the different styles of dance. As a ballerina myself I cannot imagine what a challenge that must be.

Honestly, I believe Kayla or Brandon will win. I like Kayla but she's not my favorite. I would root for her over Jeanine (we're both from S. Florida and I've actually competed against her.. I don't remember her being very nice  but she is an amazing dancer).

Excited for tonight!

I just finished watching my DVR from last night so now I can comment!!

I have tried SOOO hard this season to really like someone and really no one appeals to me over anyone else. Last season I LOVED Chelsea and Katie and even though I knew that Courtney wouldn't win I really routed for her. And the guys were just AMAZING right to the end.
I don't feel that way this season. Evan has gotten negative comments almost every week and he is still there, I like the fact that he is different but Jason was definately better. Jeanine has started to grow on me but I just can't get into her as much as I would like. I do like Kayla and I am sure that she will be the top girl but Melissa doesn't bother me that much either.
All in all I just feel like everyone is a good dancer but personality wise they are so BLAH. The judges keep saying that these are the best top ten that they have had but I completely disagree...last season was ten times better.

My favorite show, but Nigel keeps trying to ruin it. I love watching these young dancers so much. I was a modern dancer in college, and later discovered partner dancing and competed nationally in C&W and West Coast Swing. Yes, we did that country two step that did in Kherington and Mark last year. My daughter dances everything except partner dancing. I'm hoping she will take up ballroom someday, she will be wonderful at it!

Anyway. Here's my prediction for next week, I'm putting it in writing to see how close I get. First, I think Melissa and probably Ade will go home tonight. Everyone will dance with everyone next week, so here's my prediction:

Evan & Kayla: a Fosse Broadway by the lady from Australia that specializes in Fosse. We have already seen Evan fail at Fosse, but Kayla can probably do it just fine.

Kayla & Brandon: a Mia contemporary with dim lighting. We will only be able to see Kayla.

Brandon & Jeanine: a Foxtrot. Or a West Coast Swing. Or a Country Two Step. Something that needs weeks of practice when they have very little time.

Jeanine & Evan: Jive or Cha Cha, or maybe Krump. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Evan & Brandon: this one I'm not sure of. Possibly some Bollywood? It's going to be hard to come up with something Brandon can't do well. Maybe dim lighting again.

Jeanine & Kyla: a Tyce contemporary with lots of leaps and extensions so we can see how superior Kayla is.

And the winner is: Kayla!

I also have been avoiding this thread until I watched my DVR.

I've been pretty neutral about Melissa, but was completely put off by her when she said she didn't trust Evan yet and hoped he didn't drop her. What an arrogant comment! They always show couples messing up, falling, etc. when they are practicing and I've never heard anyone make such an insulting comment about their partner before.

I was annoyed by that comment too. I have never seen that Even is not a strong dancer, he has been able to manage some very physical dance routines and has not lost a partner yet. It was not a nice thing to say, especially if you are trying to encourage folks to vote for you. :sad2:

I thought the standing ovation and comment last night was completely inappropriate after Brandon's solo. If the judges wanted to stand, so be it. Just don't put it on camera & then comment on its superiority when no other solos have been given critiques immediately after performance.

I loved his routine but I wish that the judges reaction was not shown to us.

I absolutely love Evan. I think he's adorable and I love his style. Is he the greatest all-around dancer? No. But there's something about him.

I like Evan too. I do not think he can manage the genre's of dance with the same finesse that the others have but he sure s fun to watch. Every week I think I know him but I don't know where I met him. This week I know. He dances like Gene Kelly but he reminds me of Nathan Lane. Whew! Now I can stop wondering ;)

I like Melissa too but by this stage of the show she is not my favorite. I recognize her strengths but as a non dancer I cannot judge the dancing techniques and the challenges that each dancer has.

I like Brandon and Kayla for the best girl and guy but I think that Brandon will win. I love to watch him dance.

It is interesting to me that you don't remember Jeanine being a "nice" dancer. I love to watch her in the couples routines but I am constantly put off by her solos. She is the only dancer that cannot have one solo routine that does not begin and end with a full body caress. Hey! Who moved my "BLECH" smilie?!?!?!

I'm pretty happy with last night's results. I don't really care for either Evan or Ade, so no hard feelings there.

Here's how I'd like to see the Finale winners:
Jeannine
Brandon
Kayla
Evan

Even if Brandon won, that'd be okay. He is a very talented dancer, I just think Jeannine's more personable.

Looking forward to all the great routines next week! I love when all the finalists dance with each other!!

I was so glad to see the door routine from last year, I love it :)

And I'm soooo happy Evan's around next week. I just love him. I know he's not the best dancer, but he is my favorite. And I really have no attachment to the rest of them, they're just so ehhhhhhhhh

I loved seeing the routines from last year. It showed you the difference between last year and this. The dancer's were simply more passionate last year. I loved all three routines they showed. But especially, the Door and Chelsea and Mark's hip hop. I wished they would have interviewed them.

I think this is the right final 4 from the top 20 - but they are kind of boring.

I think Evan is going to win. I think he is the only one who hasn't been in the bottom (I know Brandon was announced safe first last night, but they said he wasn't necessarily at the top.) I don't have a favorite, but I think Brandon or Kayla should win based on talent. I don't know if I'm just not interested in the show anymore, but I think this season and the dancers are forgettable. There hasn't been a routine that I have loved. I hope the fall season is better.

What the heck was up with Lil C tonight? He was rambling on about the universe and metaphorically that and theologically this. It made no sense and never did lead to a coherent point. Generally I like him, but he must have been smoking some crazy stuff backstage because he was all kinds of crazy tonight.

I just don’t have any favorites this year like I did last year. Not sure why because they have had some strong dancers on. None of them grabbed me though and I haven’t found myself rooting for anyone like I was for Josh last year. I did like Jason and was disappointed when he left, but that was about it. I don’t think I could name the top 3 girls if they were standing in front of me. They guys, yes, but not the girls.

Evan has such a huge fan base and I think he is great, but when he is not working within his genre he struggles and just doesn’t do as well as the others seem to do. Brandon is just amazing. The dancing, the body. He should win, but since this sometimes just comes down to a popularity contest,.

The choreography last year just blew me away. So many memorable dances, as evidenced by the fact that they have been showcasing them the last couple of weeks and the Emmy nominations. This year, not so much. There have been a couple that I loved, but really, most of them have just been so-so. Nothing really exiting or moving or amazing.

What is the prize this year?

LOL.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Actually, I'd be fine with Kayla winning.

We love Evan in our house....he should be in the remake of "Singing in the Rain", we think he actually dances like Donald O'Connor. He has gotten better each week (in our non dancer eyes) out of his genre. The producers/editors of the show wanted Melissa to go....they could have left her snide comment out.

We are happy with the final four and would be happy with either of the boys winning. Evan makes us smile every time he dances but we know Brandon is the better, technically, dances. I didn't listen to whole interview but our TV station ran bits of it in commercials and Kayla really truly seems to think too much of herself. Jeanine has just been forgetable this season for our house.

Frankly, I think Dancind nailed it.

I'm laughing but I think she is right!

I too was amazed by the contrast between last year's routines and this year's contestants. They were so passionate, emotional and most of all believable last year! Put against this years dancers you can see just how 'flat' this group of contestants are. They may be the most technically skilled (whatever) but they are emotionless. Completely void of personality. And the few that have exuded personality are unlikable.

I'm fine with the final 4. I wouldn't have cared if Evan or Ade went. I think Evan is more personable even if Ade comes across more technically skilled. Like I said Wednesday, I don't think this board gives Evan enough credit. He has the best crafted solo compared most everyone else. He has skills, he just isn't a ripped as the other guys so he is perceived to be less trained. Contemporary dancers are always perceived as 'better' on this show. They always win.

I'm so over Kayla it isn't funny. I get she is likely the better dancer but I just don't like her! I don't think she is cute or pretty and she just annoys me. I don't see 'star' potential with her. Have we seen her hip hop?

I'd like Brandon to win. But I can live with anyone of the 4. Actually I'd like to see a girl win (Jeannine) but I don't think one will.

Don't know what happened - don't know if it happened to anyone else, and I didn't look at the rest of the posts because I don't want to know what happened.

Anyway I can find the show online and the results show too?

I'm fine with any one of the four winning. They have all entertained me for the season. I think the choreography was better last year than this but it is still enteraining to me and my family. Fun show to sit down and watch all together.

My favorite is still Evan. I love his personal style, swing type music and the whole shebang. That is just personal preferance for me because I love it because it makes me happy to hear the music and watch the dance.

Not sure if I'll vote though. I've just never been a voter.

I'm rooting for Evan and Kayla. I'd be happy if Brandon won too.

Not a big fan on Jeannine but again, she's a great dancer. I just think she's a little trashy.. :/

I don't know why but it seems to me that this season there are fewer diverse dances. There just seems to be a lot of hip hop and a lot of contemporary and not as many "partner" dances as there were last season.
Hasn't Jeannine done hip hop a LOT and when Brandon and Jeanette were together it seemed like they had a lot of "fast and fun" type dances (disco, jazz, hip hop, etc.)

It could all be my imagination!!! I just remember more waltz, tango, and those types of dances last year and I remember the dances being more evenly distributed among the dancers.

I'm rooting for Evan and Kayla. I'd be happy if Brandon won too.

Not a big fan on Jeannine but again, she's a great dancer. I just think she's a little trashy.. :/

I think her solo outfits are too risque and I am always afraid that something is going to pop out!! She has a bit more of a body then the other dancers (if you know what I mean!!) She is beautiful though and has a great smile.
