"So this funny thing happened in line at Disney..."

We were visiting Disneyland for the first time when my son was about 18 months. It was a long day, and we were in line for the Monsters Inc. ride.

A lady in front of us had a braided pony tail and my son decided to give it a hard pull. Luckily he was not that strong, but her head was still moved back a bit. I couldn't believe it and I was absolutely mortified! We apologized over and over...

Luckily, she was a good sport and played with him. My son is now 9 and my husband and I still laugh about this... so thankful she was nice about it!

I'm guessing Episcopal- or as we call them around here "almost Catholic". ;)

Or a Catholic Priest that had a family before joining the Priesthood. A friend of mine who did said that it's fairly common.

Not Disney, but DW and I ran into a high school friend of ours on the streets of Tijuana. It was very surreal.

I had something similar happen, but mine does have a Disney connection. I was in Germany with a friend and her family over Christmas. We decided to visit Neuschwanstein Castle which is known to be the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. You walk up the mountain and then take a horse drawn carriage back down. So, we get in the carriage and get settled. They load another family with us. That is when we noticed that one of the men was wearing a University of Tennessee hat!

We asked them about it and they were from Knoxville! My friend's brother went to UT and lived in Knoxville. My friend and I lived less then 2 hours east of Knoxville and attended school there.

Talk about a small world!

When my nephew was 6; we took him to Disney. DH and DN went on Splash Mountain. When they came off DH told me that DN was talking to the man in front of them saying "Hey Mister, is this a scary ride". DH and I found it amusing and even now, many years later we joke about it.

One year we went as did coworkers of mine. I didn't particularly like the women and figure there was no way we would see them. MK was packed but then the crowds parted and I see them. They wanted to chat for a while but we were able to get away after a couple of minutes.

While we where waiting for the train at frontierland station, the boy in front of us got stuck with his leg in the fence.
An other family in line, gave the dad some sunscreen and he was able to wiggle his leg out.
This whole thing took about 10 min. and the cm/s where getting a bit nervous...

Good thing everybody was laughing even the boy (around 9 years old).

You're right, never heard of it! :lmao:
I did look it up though, so now I know :)

I'm originally from Parsippany, and now live in Hopewell, which is near Princeton.

Jersey boy here too. Lived in Westmont, Cinnaminson, Palmyra, Pennsauken, Quinton and now Point Pleasant Beach. I have no idea where South River is, so it must be north-ish.

My favorite is our commonly referred to as "Karma is a well, you know" moment. We were in line for the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, waiting patiently, when a boy of about 5 or 6 squeezes around us. He moves through the line so that he is about 4 or 5 families in front of us then stops. Next comes his older brother who looks to be about 10 - 12. He apologetically asks if he can pass because he needs to get his brother. Once he catches up, her come Mom and Dad needing to get with their kids. After the party is all together, the little one sneaks ahead in line several places and the so on until they are almost at the front of the line. Several people in line noticed but, of course, nobody really says anything except the muffled frustration and the "some people" comments.

Finally, it's time for the line to move and them to start boarding when the little guy starts to complain that his stomach is hurting. Dad pushes him on, telling him he will be okay despite his protests. Finally dad picks him up and "helps" him into their Magic Carpet. Just as the ride starts to move we hear this loud groan followed by the little guy vomiting all over his dear ole dad. Several people in line had huge smiles come across their face including the CM that had witnessed the family bypassing the line. I swear, that seemed to be the longest I've ever seen a ride last. And to make matters even worse, my DS who is about 8 at the time looks at his big sister and says "That's why we don't cut line!"

HA love this!!

Day after Christmas (2013) we were in the wheelchair line enterance because grandma is in a wheelchair. We struck up a conversation with the family in front of us, she asked where we were from, we said Chicago, my cousin said. Louisville....... The mom said they were from Louisianna, but her best friend lived in Louisville and asked us if we knew a certain mall, we said yes, the mall is 10 minutes from our cousins house, turns out her best friend lives in the same area. It is most definitely a small world. Wonder if the lady in line with us is on the dis!

DH and I were waiting for our breakfast reservation at Kona last year and a lady who was waiting with her family for their Ohana reservation noticed my Iowa Hawkeye lanyard. We started chatting and turns out that she was from right across the river from my hometown (both small towns that most people haven't heard of) AND her DH and I went to the same college, at the same time, and majored in the same subject.

:cutie:

This wasn't in line, but meeting a character. In 2011, we were in line to meet Mr. and Mrs. Incredible. When it was our turn, Mrs. Incredible got very excited over my purse. I had my lime green Mickey head on it, so I thought that was what she was referring to. I quickly realized it was the purse itself, which had a big orange I on it from the University of Illinois where my DH is in veterinary school. She started doing a Chief dance (our old mascot). To this day whenever the Incredibles come up, we always talk about Mrs. Incredible being an Illini. :)

Just put this sunscreen trick in back of all your minds as we had to use it also. We were on a boat from Hollywood Studios back to Beach club one night when my 6yo daughter got her leg caught between the wall and the bench. To this day I don't know how she did it. Well I worked and worked but couldn't get it out then the boat pilot asked if anyone had sunscreen (luckily someone did as it was January) and we put that on and got her leg to slip out. So if you ever see someone stuck like these examples get out your sunscreen and come to the rescue.

This didn't happen at Disney but at Six Flags. DS is TERRIFIED of new rides. No matter how tame. He loves them as soon as they start and after, but getting him on a new ride is a nightmare. A friend and I were at the end of a long day at Six Flags with DS, her two kids and a friend.
We had experienced DS's panic at nearly every ride so we were use to it. We were walking up to a semi-tame ride that didn't have a line and DS was walking behind me at the end of the group and was very quiet, not complaining at all, and I didn't think anything about it. We all walked through the turnstyles and the rest of the group kept walking to get on the ride. I turn around to help DS through the turnstyle and he yells at the top of his lungs "I don't want to ride!!" Then he turns and runs.... back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, down each row of the empty queue toward the busy park. I was stuck behind the turnstyle and couldn't get to him, on top of laughing so hard I was crying watching DS run back and forth down each row. He looked like a cartoon!
When I finally got back through the turnstyle and made it to him at the entrance of the ride, he was completely calm and said, "I didn't want to ride." He then watched all of his friends ride and announced that he now wanted to ride. So we did, but I made sure he was in front of me in line that time!

This is a bit of a prank I played on DS15. He had been taking American Sign Language at school the term we went to WDW.

We were waiting around for the Magic Kingdom to open, and I saw the box with all of the foreign language maps. I pointed out the box across the way and told DS15 to go get an ASL map.

He got about halfway to the box before he realized that I was putting him on -- of course, an ASL map would simply be an English map. :rotfl2: I still remind him of that when he gets a little too smug.

We were in line at Soarin and a man front of us started a conversation with us because he was interested in the rides our DD liked because his DD and DW didn't want to go on Soarin. Our DD discussed at great length the rides and meeting Anna and Elsa with him and how she thought his DD would love it. He said he was worried about the line (seeing as it was around 1pm at that time). I told him that he might have luck later in the afternoon. We ended up splitting away from him as the ride was exiting. Later in the evening we saw him and his family in line to meet them as we were checking into Akershus and waved. He hopped out of line and gave us high fives and my daughter a hug (not creepy in any way) and told her thanks for all her help. The look on his wife's face was of pure confusion and I am sure he had some explaining to do when he got back in line.

BUT, the one that I will absolutely never forget that touched my heart happened back in December 1999. We were in line for Safari at AK. It was a long line as AK was fairly new and it was the busy Christmas week. There was an adorable little girl with a stuffed animal in line by me. If my memory is right, I'm guessing she was probably in the 4 to 6 range. I started to talk to her, I think asking her about her stuffed animal, and her Dad started to jump in and say "She won't..." when she said something back to me. Her Dad kind of had a funny look on his face when she responded to me. She and I started talking back and forth a little, and I could see her Dad was a little emotional, and then he leaned over and whispered to me to please keep talking to her because she was autistic and he had never seen her respond and interact with any stranger like she was doing with me before. So we chatted here and there about her trip, stuffed animal etc, played a little peek a boo with the stuffed animal to pass the time in line etc. Her responses were short, but she was totally interacting with me. I would never in a million years have realized she was autistic if her dad had not said something to me. I recall on the ride her kind of pointing things out with me and playing with her stuffed animal with me. At some point in line he told us that she had been in some pretty extensive therapy to work on interacting, and she seemed to be doing okay, but that she had never responded when a stranger spoke to her, much less interacted with them. I think his wife was off with a sibling and he was wishing that she had been there to see it. Total Disney Magic. She was happy and excited about Disney and willing to share with me. I think about that precious little girl every time we ride Safari, and I wonder how she is doing today-which she must be grown up by now.

On behalf of that dad, I thank you for taking the time to talk with her. It wasn't my child, but I appreciate anyone who can see past our children's differences. I could have been that parent on our first trip when our special girl was 6. I think I walked around WDW for 10 days with tears in my eyes. Disney is truly an amazing place for kids on the spectrum. We returned home in June and immediately booked a return trip twins' birthday in January.

My family was going through all the ropes and switchbacks for Kali River Rapids, when the woman ahead of us takes off her shirt!!!!! She keeps walking while she digs around in her bag and then puts on another shirt, I am guessing she preferred that shirt to get wet in, but she walked around in just a bra for several minutes. Now every time we see the Seinfield episode where the woman wears a bra as a top, we joke that she must be headed for Kali River Rapids!!

Maybe she was from Europe and didn't think anything of it. Or maybe it was a swim suit top? Some look very much like bras- lace and hook-eye closures and all.

Not Disney, but in line at the airport in Punta Cana, DR we turned around to see a friend of mine. SUPER small world!
