We have yet to take our boys on this one, along with the Haunted Mansion, due to the scariness factor. Out of curiosity, at what age are children not so scared by this ride? The last time I rode this, I was a teenager...this was about 15+ years ago and I can't remember what it was like.

All kids are different. What scares one five year old may not scare another. Let's put it this way, DD(5) goes on TT, TOT, BTMRR, and Splash and wont go one Snow White.:confused3

This ride is probably the only thing me daughter remembers from the trip when she was around 3. I mean- it terrorized her! It took about 5 rides on It's a Small World (thank goodness for her grandmother being there!) for her to ride anything else after Snow White. We didn't attempt it again for several trips. On our most recent trip- we all rode it - dd was 8 and ds6- didn't scare either of them that time! It completely depends on your kids. Just talk to them before the ride and during the ride - both rode Haunted Mansion and TOT that trip. I had to really talk to them both during the rides the first time they rode it- especially dd- but both loved them after the first ride! FYI- Expedition Everest scared ds pretty badly the first two times(he wanted to ride it again), but it became his favorite ride in all the parks! DD loved it from the beginning.
Each child is different... have fun!

It depends on the child. Last year my girls were 4 and 6 and the 4 year old was fine and the 6 year old freaked out (to be honest she has always been afraid of SW and she hates wizard of oz too). This year they are 5 and 7 and my older one has already asked to skip it this year.

That same 7 year old loves TOT and my younger one hates it.

Like the previous posters said it really depends on the children. I have a 3 and 6 and they have always wanted to go on it. However, they know the movie really well. Also we make jokes during the scary parts to help them.
One thing you might do is go to youtube and look for Snow White video and see if it will scare them. You might also get them to watch it to see if they want to do it. I hope this helps.

Ok, my 2 year old freaked at the car wash...am I in trouble??:lmao: We were able to talk though how it was "so silly that the car had a bath"

I have been on Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and many other magic kingdom rides, so I think I know how to talk my DS through them (I can tell them it will get dark, someone will scream, etc., etc...he seems okay if she knows what will happen and if I can hold his hand)

We might skip Snow White, but I was wondering...is there a way to find out how the ride generally goes so you can talk your kids through them?

I think this one depends on the child , like the other posters above have said. I have three children ages 5,3 and 2 , they've all been riding both Snow White & Haunted Mansion since they were infants and all 3 of them have never been scared once , it might also be too that we go every year & watch movies about them all year long . If you wanted your kids to see the rides ahead of time you might want to buy them the Disney Sing-a-Long DVD's for Disneyland & Halloween(they sell them at Toys R US) , these both feature the Haunted Mansion at least and lot of the other attractions , there a little out dated but they really get the kiddies pumped up for all the rides and give them a preview of what they will see at WDW. Hope this helps :)

Like previous posters said, it's varies from child to child. Last time we were at the MK, my daughter was 4 and Snow White didn't phase her. She loved it. Of course, she still seizes up at the though of the Haunted Mansion, so it just depends on the child.

I agree with those who say it depends on the child. DD wasn't afraid of anything when she was 5. We actually did the Haunted Mansion first because of stuff I'd read about Snow White. The HM didn't bother her because she knew it was just Donald's "Grim Grinning Ghosts" like on her sing-along video (this was a long time ago!). So we did SW and I didn't get what the fuss was about. But we did warn her ahead of time that the ride was supposed to be scary, but it was all pretend like the HM.

I've seen one or two kids getting off the ride who were upset. You need to decide if your child will be one of them.

The ride is a bit lame, although it is a classic. We wouldn't wait for it anytime there is a line. So if you want a good excuse to skip it, just tell your child it has no Fastpass and the line is too long!

My girls are 4 and 5 yrs old and went on SW in January... they are still talking about how scary it was for them.

I don't necessarily think it was the attraction, per se, more that it is so dark....

I took my 4 year old DD on it for the first time last year (she's 5 now). She loved it. She was a little nervous about it because of what it's called, but what helped her (and she did it again this year) was counting how many times you see the witch! Try that, it really helped DD.
PLUS, anytime I think she'll be a little nervous on a ride I give her a glowstick, that always helps! Last year she hated the Haunted Mansion (drama queen, hid her face in Daddy's armpit, didn't even look the whole time) and didn't want to go on it this year! I knew she would love it if she just tried, so I gave her a glowstick to hold while she was on and she ended up loving it!

We took our 2 year old granddaughter on Snow White and she started getting scared, but I told her that we were running away. She started putting up her hands and saying "go away" whenever something happened that she didn't like. We did not have any problems. POC and HM did not faze her at all. We rode Snow White another time and she was fine. There was a pteradactyl at TRex cafe that she did not like, though. Whenever he moved, she would wave her hands at him and say "go away" -- she is too cute. Now, when we go again in a couple of years, we may have a different reaction.

Wavering on taking DS 6 as sometimes the most unexpected things "freak his freak" as he says. Is there usually a line for this? Thinking we'd play it by ear, but don't want to add insult to injury by putting him through a ride he ends up hating and ALSO standing in a long line to do it...is it usually a long wait?

LOL...:lmao: That's cute!!!

Anyways, as others said it all depends on the child. The last time we went my kids were not tall enough for anything with a height restriciton but we rode everything that didn't have one and they loved it all. My oldest was a bit nervous about HM but once we got on it he loved it. NW didn't scare any of them. We always use the term "Mickey Magic" when explaining a ride that might sound a little scary. You could go to youtube and watch a video of the ride and see what you think. Have Fun!!!

I'm another vote for "it depends on the child." When DD was 3 1/2, I didn't even attempt to take her on Snow White. She got freaked out by Festival of the Lion King. We had to leave Playhouse Disney (yes, Playhouse Disney) because she was shaking and crying in fear. :confused3

When we went in September for her 5th birthday, DD was not wanting to try Snow White until we met up with another family and their daughter who was in DD's class at daycare, and about 6 months younger than DD. DD's friend told her she wanted to go on Snow White, and when DD balked, her friend told her whenever the witch showed up she stuck her tongue out at her. Somehow that worked, and we ended up on the Snow White ride probably a dozen times during that trip. But when we rode Snow White with another family we knew from home, their 6 1/2 year old girl hated it and refused to go on it again.

this ride has terrified my kids who at the time were 4, 9 and 12

no joking!

I took my 2 year old on this and she didn't get scared at all. To be honest, I don't know what is scary on this ride. The witch is there, but she doesn't pop out or anything to the point where kids should be afraid. Maybe only the youngest kids who scare very easily.

Well, if you ask my DH (who is 33), he is still scared of that ride and will not get on it. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: My DD6 and I will get on it, and she has never been scared on it. He is scared of the witch. LOL My DD has a Snow White viewfinder with pictures of the witch too- and she scares him with it.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
