Snow White ride- at what age (about) is it NOT so scary?

I went on Snow White at 6 (almost) and loved it. That was back when WDW first opened. Are they familiar with the movie? I think the ride is fairly true to the movie--there are scary things that happened to Snow White.

My husband still talks about how scared he was when he rode this as a child. My son rode it at 4 and it didn't bother him at all.

All kids are different. Mine was scared at 5, timid at 7 and rolled her eyes at the fact that she used to be scared at 10.

IMO bottom line - the ride isn't worth the risk...it is dark and scary, no cute little 7 dwarfs, forrest animals...nothin' - dark scary witch story...not worth the wait - even though there never is one (doesn't that tell you something!)

DD3 and I went back in September and she loved it! She wanted to ride it over and over again. It's funny, because her three favorite things (beside the Barnstormer) were Snow White, the castle show with Maleficent, and the Haunted Mansion! She just loves being scared, but I think she's probably in the minority :)

I agree with others...it all depends on the child. On our first trip I had decided to not ride the ride because I was afraid it might scare my three year old. She had seen the movie and was fine watching it, but I had never ridden the ride myself so I all I had to base my decision on was comments in a guidebook forewarning it might scare children so I opted to skip it.

Be prepared, though. Although I had decided we wouldn't ride it, when we were on our trip my little one insisted on riding it. I forewarned her that some kids were scared by it, but that she wouldn't see anything that she didn't see in the movie. I told her she would see the old witch from the movie, etc. Still, she insisted.

As we rode the ride, I just talked her through the portion that was scary and played it off like it was just like the movie so everything would turn out well, etc. We looked for the good things in the ride and hyped that up. She ended up loving it and wasn't scared one bit. In fact, we rode it multiple times--and to think, I had planned on us not riding it at all. I think my prepping her for what she would see on the ride before we got on it helped and talking her through it while on the ride and making light of what she saw helped too.

I guess my point is only you know your child best, but be prepared that your child may want to ride the ride although you may have decided ahead of time not to. If you choose to ride it, you can help your child by forewarning them ahead that he/she will see the witch from the movie, everything turns out fine just like in the movie, and talk them through it while on the ride. You can also cover his/her eyes when you're at the scary witch portion.

When DS was 4 I was all set to take him on Snow White. He's the kind of kid that will only get scared if he thinks he is supposed to be and he is all about the drama (I like to say he's been a teenager his whole life).

Anyway, at 4 he could not read just yet but he was trying and he could get a few sounds out of the letters. We walk up to Snow White and he sees that crazy sign out front. -Don't remember what it says exactly (I should take a pic of it one of these days, because I point at it and curse it every trip!).

He looks at that sign and asks what it says...."um, nothing" Then he says "W- W - A-- R...." Okay, I said "It says 'Warning......' by the time I got to the word...'Scary' there was just no way he was going anywhere near it and from then on we have read and discussed every sign at Disney. Geeze, poor little scaredy cat.

So to answer your question - 4 was too young for ds (we think - because we never made it on it!) At 7 he was ready to suck it up. Seriously, he rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before Snow White. :confused3

Ok, my 2 year old freaked at the car wash...am I in trouble??:lmao: We were able to talk though how it was "so silly that the car had a bath"

I have been on Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and many other magic kingdom rides, so I think I know how to talk my DS through them (I can tell them it will get dark, someone will scream, etc., etc...he seems okay if she knows what will happen and if I can hold his hand)

We might skip Snow White, but I was wondering...is there a way to find out how the ride generally goes so you can talk your kids through them?

It must be something about Car Washes and 2year olds. My DS hates the car wash, even though he talks about them every time we pass one. But on the DW front, he has not be scared by anything really. Kali River Rapids kinda scared him, but he was like over it in seconds, but didn't want to ride it again. But he was fine with Snow White the last time we went.

Well, if you ask my DH (who is 33), he is still scared of that ride and will not get on it. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: My DD6 and I will get on it, and she has never been scared on it. He is scared of the witch. LOL My DD has a Snow White viewfinder with pictures of the witch too- and she scares him with it.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I am with your DH. I am 40 and my eyes are closed as tight as possible in the Haunted Mansion---especially around the bride in the attic.geeezzzzz and our doom buggy got stuck for aobut 5 minutes in front of her last year. :scared1:

My Dh is evil, he just came in and read over my shoulder and started making a heart beat sound.....thump, thump...thump, thump....that was cruel!!! :scared1:

I think it depends. I was concerned that my 4 year old would get freaked out after I had read all the comments from others.........but when it came time for her to ride it..........I tried to explain to her that it might be scary........she said she would not get scared and ended up enjoying the ride. She also rode ToT. I know this is not a solid answer to the question, but I think the only answer that can be given is that it just depends on the kid.

I completely agree that it depends on the child.
We just returned from our trip a few weeks ago during which my daughter turned 4. She rode everything that her height would allow her too including Snow White, TOT, BTMRR, Splash Mountain, and HM. We got a kick out of her during HM...half way through she turns to her daddy and says, "This isn't scary, let's do it again!" :thumbsup2
She isn't afraid of anything! At that age though, I would have been scared of all of them!:scared1:

I really think it depends on the child. My DS rode it at 2 and loved it!
