Smell on the ships?

We were on the Wonder in 2010. There were a couple of places we went in certain areas that I can say smelled like a ship. I have been on military ships and have a destinct smell to them. I was amazed that I didnt smell it more. With that said I think I may have been a couple of CMs that worked in the engine room.

I would love to duplicate the smell at home of The Dream! I have been looking at Disney themed candles and saw this thread. I think it's my favorite smell just after the Beach Club Resort.

WOW. I love the smell on the ship and I love and wear Flowerbomb perfume. Never realized it but yes, they are very similar!!

I tend to smell, what I thought were cleaning products. I associate it with the first day, going in our room, the cool air from the ac mixed with whatever was used to clean, is sort of stagnant (in a good way) in the room. We had a musty smell in our basement closet a few years ago and DH bought some sort of spray or something to go in there and my first thought when I smelled it was...the ship! DS agreed. I'm not sure what it was though so that's no help. I'll look if he still has it.

I use Flowerbomb regularly and love the smell of the Disney ships but never equated the smell to that perfume.

The stuff that they spray in the staterooms is called Zeph Air Mountain Mist. You can buy it on Amazon. I got a bottle and sprayed it in our kitchen one night. My son and husband both walked in the room and stopped and yelled "Disney ship!" at the same time. They didn't know that I had sprayed anything.

There is a company called enviroscent who produce an air scent machine. Its used in a lot of hotels, the size of a speaker and it pumps scents out. Disney (and mariott/sheraton/westin) use these devices and each usually have 1 scent type they use.

I know what you mean. As soon as we get on the Fantasy we sniff and go, "We're home." There is a smell walking down the hallways and in the room. We have tried to replicate it with candles and such but never found that "Fantasy" smell. But there are other smells as well. Chocolate Chip cookies, the smell of Cookies 2 BBQ and the smell of the breeze on deck during a sea day. All really missing during this quaratine.

Haha....I just ordered the Zeph Air from Amazon. We will see when it comes!!

Also, I can tell you for a fact what they use as soap in the public bathrooms onboard as my friend and I love the scent of the soap so we took pics of the product. It is also from Ecolab.

They must also use the scent in the laundry. I noticed my sleepwear had the smell after unpacking.

Bought the same air freshener through Amazon (Ecolab 12043 ZephAir Mountain Mist Air Freshener) and got it yesterday $25, a little pricey. My wife sprayed it in my younger daughter's bedroom and the first thing she said when she went in was her room smells like the cruise! She had no idea I bought it. Worth the price I thought after that reaction.

I received it but have not had a chance to spray it yet...looking forward to it.

I asked about the scent on the Fantasy on our last cruise and they were unable to help me.

Not exactly the same but I ordered a bottle of DCL lotion for my birthday in April. I have the bottle out and look at it and smile every so often. This weekend I put a little on for the first time and nearly cried because of the emotions of normalcy that came up. Kept sniffing my arms all night. Smell is so strongly linked to memory. :)

If it's like walking into the Venetian, Las Vegas, they pump that stuff into the air ducts. I doubt it's someone spraying perfume in the vents, more like a scent mixed in a huge vat. Wish I invented that stuff and the entire idea. :thumbsup2
OMG! I love the smell of the Venetian. you just brought back good memories.

I ordered some and just received it. YES!

LOL - for a couple of years there was a "characteristic smell" on Wonder, Deck 4 near DVC. Turns out they finally found a cracked sewer pipe from the men's room across the hall. In January it smelled **much** better!

Well, the ZephAir brought back ship memories for me...not so much for my family. We had the entire family over for a repass so I sprayed some and no one thought it smelled like any Disney ship (and they have all sailed DCL several times). I was disappointed but I still think it does.

What do you spray it on? I had thought it was an air freshener type thing to just spray in the air, but I see it's not.
