Skip the Counter at Dollar Rental?

Hi guys! I'm headed back to WDW next week. (For a WORK conference. Can you believe it!?)

I'm renting from Dollar and am wondering if anyone has "skipped the counter?" I've done this when renting from Alamo (used their kiosk) but can't seem to figure out Dollar's procedure even after reading this: http://www.dollar.com/travelcenter/traveltools/choiceservice.aspx

If anyone can shed some light on the process, I'd be grateful.

I have done this with Dollar at MCO before. I signed up for their Dollar Express card. I was able to go directly to the garage to pick up my car rather than go to the in terminal counter. It was a couple of years ago but from memory, you sign up for the card and have to give details of drivers license etc. The only thing I am not sure about is if you will be able to get it done in time as you are going next week. Again, I vaguely remember being able to print out a temporary card until mine came in the mail.

Although not MCO we rented from Dollar in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago. We went straight to the garage picked out a car. Simple as that.

If you sign up for their Dollar Express - you give them all your info up front. License, Credit Card, address, etc. It usually takes two or three days to get your number after you sign up. If you don't call and ask for it. Also, once you get it you need to call them and link your existing reservation to your dollar express membership. Good idea to print out your reservation and your email about Dollar Express membership (with the number). When you get to the airport go straight to the garage and there is a booth there if you have trouble but your name should be posted on the electronic board with the space number for your car and away you go... Have a good trip.

I was wondering about this too. We will be renting with Dollar at the end of March, so that gives me lots of time to sign up for Dollar Express. I'm also wondering about additional drivers. Will I be able to use Dollar Express if I'm putting my dh on as an additional driver? We have always used National (emerald aisle) but right now for our dates National rates are just too high. Never used Dollar before....I'm a little nervous about them....any opinions appreciated!!

You can add the additional driver in the garage. We did it at the end of January. The garage employee did it in just a few minutes while my husband installed our car seats. It did cost an extra $11 a day. I have used Dollar a few times and never had a bad experience. I do get a receipt when I fill up on the drive back to return the car but have never been asked to show it.

Thank you for that information! I just spoke to someone at the call center overseas, and they told me I had to go to the rental counter. I'm glad I found your post, or I would have stood in line.

Hopefully it is still better information than the guy overseas. Better to try it and be told to go to the counter, than stand in line only to find out I could have done it in the garage .
