Sister Challenge - moved to New Years Resolution in July

My nutritionist also swears by green tea. I drink at least 20 ounces of it per day plus my water. Needless to say, I spend a lot of time peeing too!! (sorry TMI)

She recommends decaf green tea with no sweetner if you can, otherwise..she suggests splenda.

Just another idea. Maybe you can do some water & some green tea.

Keep up the good work! I love the walking idea with DH. Unfortunately we can't go without the kids, and I can't subject them to this weather...so hopefully in another month or two we can do that.

Ok....I'm back....long weekend/busy week/start of a cold...but I'm on track!!!
I bought a big 32oz water glass to keep at my desk at work...halfway through it now!! DH and I have been doing our 2 mile walk, not every night, but about 4 times a week is our goal!! It feels good!! We actually get to talk w/ NO interruptions!! Wow, what a concept!!
Doing ok on the food too....mostly salads for lunch...dinner is tuna, or chicken...b-fast is the hard part...I"m sooo used to a poptart at my desk...it's a hard habit to break!! One thing at a time...I haven't had ANY Coke products in about 4 days!! :headache: i think i'm past the withdrawl now..i hope!! :woohoo:
ok...on with work!!
Have a great day!!

I'm glad to hear you are still on track! Maybe instead of the PopTart you could substitute a more healthy Oatmeal on the Go bar or something like that? Or maybe make a big breakfast casserole and take a square with you every morning to eat at your desk. That might be something to work on after you are fully broken of your Coke habit! Congrats on that big step! :cheer2:

Yesterday -

b-fast - pop-tart & water
lunch-1/2 turkey club on wheat & water
dinner - salad w/ light french dressing

and for the biggie.....88 oz water!! :woohoo:
no cokes!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

excersize-2 mile walk w/ hubby (35 min) 10 push-ups 20 sit ups (w/ ds 10)
gonna get the whole family involved if it kills me!!! lol

today i HAVE to be strong....a girl here at work brought homemade chocolate cover strawberries!! they are HUGE!!! I had 1 and that's all i'm going to have....(couldn't be rude and not accept it!! lol) wish me luck!!

thanks for the encouragement!!

how do these "Challenges" work? I see them all over the place and I don't get it....(kinda slow here!!)
Where do I go to get the info?

Also, I'm a lifetime member of Jenny Craig....do you think I should go back there, or join Curves....give me advice....let me know your opinions.

thanks again! :yay: (jumping jacks!!)

also, how do you add the signature clippies? i'm lost!

Congrats on only having one chocolate covered strawberry! I almost undid a month's worth of work by standing next to the chocolate fountain at my boss's Christmas lunch... :rolleyes1

As for the Challenges, they are quite easy. On the main WISH board, find the thread for whichever Challenge you are interested in (there is usually a monthly Lose 5 Challenge and an Exercise Challenge). Post on that thread and grab the clippie (the link is usually found on the first post) and update it as often as you like. It is extremely motivating to update your numbers and see how much progress you are making!

I personally believe that the number of calories eaten must be less than calories burned to lose weight. I could never do Atkins or pills or anything like that. But that is just me. If Jenny Craig worked for you in the past, it might be something to look into again to get you started. I know a lot of people on this board who have had success on Weight Watchers as well. Curves is a good start to get you into strength training, or join a gym and sign up for a couple sessions with a trainer. It's ultimately up to you and what you feel comfortable doing, but the most important thing is that you are taking the first steps to becoming healthier! :cheer2:

:wave2: Ok...I caved in and had 2 strawberrys...they were SOOOOO good!!! (everyone else had about 4 so I still feel ok)

64 oz of water today...still no coke or caffine products YEAH!!

no walking tonight...raining... :guilty:
might hit the treadmill....(i hate that thing!)
gonna go to Curves tomorrow...(i said that earlier this week, but tomorrow is the day!!)

I signed up for the 5 For Feb Challenge...I can do it....heck, couple more days of all this water and I'll either lose it or float away!! :wave2:

You're doing great so far. Good job on the strawberry self control. Hope it stops raining so you can walk outside again. A strategy for tolerating the dreadmill is to watch something you are really interested in on the bloob tube. My mom got through Season 1 of Pretender on DVD that way. I have specific workout DVDs that I ride my bike to and that makes the time go quickly while at the same time encouraging some intensity rather than just spinning along.

You may want to consider adding some low fat/no fat sources of calcium such as yogurt or cottage cheese. Kind of two birds one stone with getting both calcium and protein. It might be a good substitute for your pop tart. BTW, there are definitely worse things than pop tarts too so don't feel too bad about it.

Keep up the good work.

See, there's the problem....I don't like yogurt (unless it TCBY) or cottage cheese. (grew up on a dairy farm) I usually have a glass of 2% milk while i'm getting ready for work...don't know if that's good or not. No poptart today...I made fat free muffins. not too bad....didn't burn them or anything! :woohoo:

I weighed myself this morning....looks like I'm down about 2 lbs. wish it was more, but like i said, i'm trying to do it right this time.

b-fast-muffin & milk

excersize-10 situps 10 pushups....my son hates these!!! LOL

ok....went and checked out Curves at lunch...they were closed but gave me some info. I set up an appointment to do it on Monday...they said Saturday was full. My boss is going to do it with me...accountability partner. We will force each other to go....guilt them into it if you will!
I'll let you know how it goes. If anyone has any opinions about it, just holler!

water intake - 64 oz
lunch.... :guilty: Fajita Pita @ Chilis....w/ sweet tea!! (i know i know...that's not how to lose weight!!!)

Congratulations on getting off to such a good start! :cheer2: I hope you like Curves, it sounds like it would be a good program. Do let us know what you think about it.

I am super impressed that you work 2 jobs, have a family, and are still able to work on your weight loss and health. :cheer2: That is great! Like others have said it is important to remember that being healthy benefits not only you but your family as well. :sunny:

Keep up the good work! You can do it! :yay: :yay:

Thanks Foxfire...and everyone...keep the encouragement coming!

I'll let you know about Curves...I think it will be good for me as my time is limited and I can do it on my lunch hour. (I'm not out to impress anyone at work, so a little sweat won't hurt! LOL)
I was afaid this weekend would be tough, but it really wasn't that bad.
We went to O'Charley's for lunch on Sat and I ordered a saladw/ water....surprised the DH!! Also, DS had to go to a b-day party at Chuckie Cheeses on Sun..I had one slice of pizza (if that's what you call it!) and a sip of DH coke....(sugar rush!!) Also had company for the Superbowl...I made a chicken bacon wrap for them...I had 1...just to taste it (first time I made this) Kept the water bottle with me at all times and even bought some lemons for added flavor.

b-fast-grapefruit slices
lunch-salad w/ light italian or ranch
dinner - chicken breast w/ rice
snacks- orange and pear

have a great day! :hippie:

Way to go!! Sounds like you did a really good job over the weekend! Weekends can be really tough, especially w/ eating out and parties to attend. It takes some will power and I think you've got it! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I got up and did 20 crunchs...(ok...maybe it was 18 1/2!) then I started couging....how much does a lung weigh?? seriously...i have a chest cold and it really hurt!! but I got up and did it!! i just got done w/ 1/2 a poptart. :guilty: and i'm halfway through my first 32oz of water. i've been trying to get at least 96oz in a day, but keep falling short...around 84oz. DH and i will be walking our 2 miles tonight. we are doing it on Tues,Wed,Thurs & Fri. mondays are too hectic. we are going to try to start in on the weekends too...we were both sick this weekend, so we skipped. :guilty:

oh, get this!!! i bought a "10,000 steps to healthy living" pedometer thing (walgreens $3.99)...i got the hiccups and it counted them!! (it was a really cheap thing!)i wonder how many hiccups you would have to go through to burn a calorie....hhhmmm.... i just thought that was funny!! sorry.

ok...have a great day all!!! :wave2:

ok...maybe not GREAT....but pretty darn good....ok....maybe not good, but hey, i'm breathing!!
dh and i did our 2 miles last night, but i threw in a twist! i remembered from doing the 5k's that you can walk/run/walk, so that's what we did!! IT REALLY DID FEEL GREAT!! we walked the first couple of blocks, then ran a block, walk a block, ran a block...etc!! i was so excited when we got done!! i was amazed that i could still run at all!!
problem came in when we got home....i started coughing! was up most of the night coughing!! darn chest cold is gonna kill me!!

ok...gonna do 84 - 96 oz of water today!! :boat:
orange for snack
not sure about lunch yet...craving a chicken salad sandwich..is that good?
pear for snack
grilled chicken salad for dinner

:yay:

i had pizza for lunch...big pizza!! :guilty:
gonna have to run more than walk tonight!!

ok...more water...flush that pizza!!! :drinking1

:rotfl2:
ok...just got back from our evening walk/run. we power-walked the first couple of blocks, then ran 3 blocks, then walked some more, then ran the last 4 blocks!!!(total of 2 miles) oh, and it's 40* out!!! i told my dh to make sure he comes to visit me in the hospital when i have pneumonia!!

i asked him when we'd be ready for the 5k's again!! :hourglass (he never ran with me, but always supported me when i'd sign up :cheer2: ) now it's time for him to do it too!!

hey, how often do you all weigh? I don't want to do it everyday, i was thinking once a month, but i don't know if that's enough...do you all do it weekly?

later tater's!
marie

Hey Marie!!! Great job with the running! You'll be back to the 5K's in no time! :thumbsup2

I usually weigh in once a week. Any more than that & the scale can tip either way, depending on salt intake and other factors. Once a month is fine too, but the suspense would kill me!!! haha

You're doing great!! Keep it up! :cheer2:

Thanks Kim...I think I'll make Sunday my weigh in day....Mondays are bad enough as it is...and it will give me a goal for the week. It looks like I'm down 2 lbs.... :cheer2: not a big difference, but i'm not complaining!! Doing it right means doing it slow, right?!

ok...back to work....and water!!! :boat: (ya know what's funny....i don't even miss the cokes!! i thought i would go through MAJOR withdrawl, but nothing bad really. :thumbsup2 )

have a great day all!!

marie

didn't do too good yesterday....feeling worse than ever...fever & coughing. Came home from work and DH said i need to take the night off from running/walking. he went and got chinese and i curled up w/ a blanket.
i did good with my water intake....96 oz, but that was about it...everything else pretty much sucked. (sorry, but it did!)

hoping today will be better....just wish i could shake the cough...it hurts!
