Sister Challenge - moved to New Years Resolution in July

I'm sorry you are feeling bad. I hope that you get to feeling better. You should probably take it easy today too, just to give yourself time to recouperate. Especially if it is like 40* outside!! Here is some pixiedust: for you to help you feel better :sunny:

You are doing great on your water intake! Keep up the good work!

Your running is great too! I can't yet imagine being able to run more than a block, much less 4!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Way to go!
 
Wow, what a long weekend!! Didn't get on the computer at all!
I'm down 2# so far...not coming off very fast. I'm trying not to get discouraged, but it's hard! I drink all this water and pee ALL the time and it's only 2 #'s!! Ok...i'm done whining.
didn't get much walking or excersizing in this weekend. still fighting the chest cold, plus it snowed and was really slushing out. Also didn't do very good on the eating side of things either...made cookies w/ dd6 and ate 2 of them, had about 10 small tootsie rolls yesterday and no water!
huh...no wonder i'm not losing any weight....still eating like an idiot!!
it's monday....back to the grind...already halfway through my 1st 32oz of water...had peanutbutter & banana on toast for b-fast.

ok...better days ahead!! back to walking/running tonight and i'm going to stay on track this week..AND weekend!! wish me luck....i need it!!
 
Here it is, Valentines Day....EVERYONE knows I'm trying to lose weight! They all see me drinking water every day, they hear me talking about running at night...they all know I'm struggling and what do they do...BUY CHOCOLATES!!
I have 2 heart shaped boxes of candy and one "goody bag" of candy on my desk, plus another woman brought in cookies!! AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!
 
b-fast - nothing...water...ran out of time
lunch - grilled chicken salad, light ranch dressing, 1 roll
water intake - 64 oz so far
chocolate intake - 1 caramel
resisting - the other 2 boxes of chocolate!!

ok...had to add...just got back from evening run/walk...felt great as usual!!
walked the first 3 blocks, ran 1/2 mile...walked some more blocks, ran another 1/2 mile and so on....not bad if i do say so myself!! :thumbsup2

having some blahs today....but that will change soon....both sisters are coming for a visit this weekend!!! AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!! :crazy:
 
When do I cave in and check out weight watchers? I'm not losing any weight. My water intake is pretty good- 80 - 96 oz a day...no cokes in a couple of weeks. I've been pretty good about my eating too....cutting portions in half, trying to stay away from snacking and sweets. I've been running/walking...2 miles, trying to go 3 - 4 times a week, depending on the weather.

Does WW online work? I signed up for SPARKPEOPLE.COM, but don't follow it...I guess I have a problem signing in and actually doing what I'm supposed to...I think I might need more accountability.

I'm getting discouraged. :(
 
today has been bad....REALLY REALLY bad!!!

lunch - bk cheeseburger, fries & COKE!!! (still not off that high yet!!)
dinner - who knows....sisters are going to be in town tonight...i'm sure it's going to be something fattening!!

OK, so you had a bad day today - it won't ruin all your efforts! Enjoy your dinner with your sisters and vow to get back on track tomorrow.

I am in the same boat with you - I have been trying to lose 10lbs since July. I have lost/gained the same 3lbs over and over and over... :yo-yo: :yo-yo: :yo-yo:

Don't get discouraged! Keep exercising and drinking your water. You might want to take measurements (arms, legs, waist, etc) and re-measure yourself every couple weeks. Are your clothes fitting better? If so, you are building muscle and losing fat, which is GOOD because more muscle means your body can burn more fat.

My sisters are going to be here ALL WEEKEND!! :eek: I guess I'll get back on track on Monday.
I guess I'm just having a pity party because my clothes AREN'T fitting any better, and I'm not losing any weight. I'm not going to weigh myself until the 28th of the month...that way I won't get discouraged and will stay on target for my 5forFeb goal. I think if I don't lose the initial 5, I'll look into WW, or something else.

I'm still going to go running while they are here and I will continue on my water path...gotta flush that Coca-Cola@ out!!

Thanks again....I'll be back on Monday...in a better frame of mind! :crazy:
 
Don't be too hard on yourself. You are trying!! And yes, you are allowed a little bad eating here & there ;).

Enjoy the weekend with your sisters (running and water included haha) and then make a plan for the week ahead. Plan out your meals and workouts and stick to it as best as you can.

I like the idea of you giving yourself until the 28th to weigh in, and decide from there if you want to join WW. I think that with already trying an online program that you admit you don't follow, maybe going to meetings and weighing in in front of someone else would help. I know the accountability was a huge part of my progress so far.

Take care. I'm proud of you for continuing to journal, through the strong and not-so-strong parts of your journey. It's a tough thing to do!
 
Stick with it! :cheer2: I know it is hard to be eating better and exercising and not see the results right away. I haven't lost since mid January. You just have to remember that drinking water, eating right, and exercising is doing Great things for your body even if you can't see it now. :sunny: And don't get discouraged for having an off week. It happens and you will get back on track. The fact that you realize that you had a rough week is a step in and of itself.

Enjoy your weekend and don't worry cause you'll be back on track for sure on Monday! pixiedust:

I was pretty discouraged there...big ol' pity party for Marie!! Ok...that's done!
Had a GREAT weekend w/ my sisters!!! We shopped....and shopped...and ate....but not tooo terribly bad!! and we had family pictures done...it was so much fun!! (Everytime we get together, I wind up with different color hair...why is that!!! I now have blond/brown highlights...looks pretty good!)

Get this...we are combining two different weight loss method to keep us ALL motivated and to have accountability!! Starting TODAY (UUGGH!) we all three have to weigh in and track our weight loss...we also have to pay $5 a week to participate (WW only cheaper!) Then the next time we are all together, we will see who has lost the most % of weight...like Biggest Loser@! Whoever wins, we get to take shopping with the weekly weigh in $$! ($15 a week x ?? weeks...could be pretty big!) We have to e-mail each other our weight & inches tonight. We already weighed while they were here, but they want to go buy their scales in case of differences. It won't be that much different from what they were here! I am so excited about this! We have all always been pretty competitive about our weight, and this will totally motivate all of us to do it!! Oldest sis said she is going to start South Beach...2nd sis is going to put her butt on her husbands excercise equiptment and stop drinking cokes..I'm going to pay closer attention to what I"m shoveling into the mouth and I'm going to get the BL DVD and start doing that...along w/ my running! (oh, DH agreed to sign up for a 5K in April!! I'm excited about that too!!! :woohoo: )

Girls....I so appreciate you responding to my last "cry for help"...I was really going to stop posting and just "wing it"...but you, along w/ my sister have gotten me back on track, and for that I thank you....you are great!! :grouphug:

I'll post again later....you know, the important stuff...weight, inches, intake (blah!! :teeth: )

What a great challenge! That is really motivating, especially if you guys are already competitive. You can do it! :cheer2:

Just remember that you can't be perfect all the time. There are going to be sometimes when you screw up, don't work out or eat something you shouldn't have. The important thing is to recognize you can't change the past, but steam ahead and try to learn from it. I have the Body for Life for Women book and it says that if you are eating right 80% of the time, you are on the road to progress.

Keep it up, I can't wait to see how your challenge goes! :thumbsup2

does anyone know how to calculate the percentage of weight lost, like they do on BL?

(they don't know I'm posting this here, so don't tell them!! :ssst: )

I'll continue to journal my progress here daily(??) and the weigh in's weekly.

Well, I just happen to be an engineer and have an uncanny knack with numbers... :teacher:

To calculate the percentage, take the starting weight minus the ending weight and divide that number by the starting weight. Multiply that result by 100 and you have your percentage.

So let's say you lose 20 lbs. You take (163-143)/163 x 100 = 12.27% loss

Sisters are great encouragement. My sister and I see the nutritionist together, and it makes a world of difference!

today....

dinner...nothing sounds good...not really hungry either...
water intake - only 36 oz....forgot my big glass at home.

no running since Thursday, had ice/sleet storm this weekend...19* all weekend. (bbbbrrrr) started raining on my way home tonight. should go hit the treadmil...(I hate that thing!)

no word from the sisters yet....they probably aren't talking to me...so what else is new!! :lmao:
 
Marie, I am so glad you are back on track and inspired again! :cheer2:I knew you would be :cheer2: I think it is Wonderful when you can have your family members losing weight with you! :sunny: It has helped me SO much to have my mom and sister on board in addition to DH.

I'm glad that you are here on the boards, don't leave us. It really helps me to have you guys and I am glad that I can help some in return. :hug: Something that I noticed over the last week is how you and I and a couple of others here on the boards were having a kind of lousy few days there and it was all at the same time. :confused3 I didn't feel quite as bad knowing that I wasn't the only one struggling to stay positive. :blush:

Keep at it and get on that treadmill! :cheer2: Just think about how much nicer it is to be on the treadmill inside where it is warm and not out there in the cold! :cold:
