Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

When my dd was 4 she went to the BBB and got made up like Cinderella. After her makeover and lunch we went to ride the carousel. From the DIS I knew that the horse with the golden bow was Cinderella's horse and luckily enough it was available so I had DD ride that one and told her who's horse it was. She seemed a bit excited, but a little unsure of whether it really was Cinderella's horse or Mom was just making things up - LOL. Then the CM for the ride was walking around to make sure the ride was ready to go, sees dd and exclaims "Cinderella - you found your horse!" My dd's face just lit up! "Mom, this really is Cinderella's horse!" It was so great!

And the last one I will bore you with is the kind photographer we met by the Noodle Station who was the ONLY one we met during our trip who could do anything from The Princess and the Frog . . .

Photo0310.jpg

Honesty every photographer we met was kind beyond belief. It was so awesome.

Is this at the MK by Tiana's meet and greet? I can't place the noodle station.

On our honeymoon we got to MK mid morning. The Move it! Shake it! celebration had already started, and we didn't want to get tangled up in the bottle neck. We stopped and chatted with the photopass photographers. This guy was a hoot, and we took these:

He told us something along the lines of count to 5 and kiss each other for this one

It seemed so silly at the time, but it's something we still talk about.

what a wonderful thread.... I can't believe I just saw it!
This past trip -end Jan/early Feb 11 we ate lunch at the Plaza. Our sever was very sweet, and then Chef Constance came out! She was so wonderful... not only going over my allergy, but when we asked about the famed double fried fries... she disappeared and brought out a little plate of them to sample... along with a plate of grapes for DD (turning 4) and DS (10 months). It was just a great surprise and wonderful to relax a little after a big morning with little ones.
THEN - the lovely citizen of main street who wears the yellow and black dress came in. She came in sang and made a big fuss over another family and gave them sundaes and then walked around. DD's favorite color is yellow. DD told her that and the citizen spent like 10 minutes fussing over DD and tickling DS. She was wonderful!

Thank you all for these wonderful posts! It made my too early Sat wake up worth it!

2 years ago, we were there with DD and DNiece, both 3 at the time. During one of the midday parades at MK (I'm guessing it was Move it! Shake it!??) the girls got up and started dancing. A CM came up to them and gave them both pins that said "I'm the best dancer." Then, he gave them a piece of paper that told us to go to Expo Hall at exactly 1:00 pm. He wouldn't even tell the adults why.

When we got there, a CM, dressed as a guard was waiting for us. He ushered us into the building, saying to the girls, "Right this way, your Highnesses." (The girls were in their SB and Belle dresses) He led us to a curtained off area and said our surprise would be along any minute. Well, a minute later, the curtain folds back and Cinderella is standing there. The girls' mouths dropped open! DD and DNiece got a full 10 minutes with her alone (well, we were there, but I mean no other kids) not only to take pictures and get autographs, but she really interacted with them- the 3 of them spun around to make their dresses twirl out, etc.

I don't know if this is the kind of thing that Disney does regularly, but I know it made us feel really special and DD and DNiece still talk about it 2 years later!

We did not do any meet and greets. Here is a picture of the noodle station I found on the web:

We went off to the side by some "rocks". He was an older gentleman. He took the magic shot and I added the border with Photo Pass.

I have something else I can add to the thread :)

We just got back from my whirlwind two day 40th birthday celebration . . .

I had posted here asking about ideas for a container for our six year old's very wiggly tooth. I knew it would fall out while at Disney and thought maybe I could find a Disney holder. I ended up with a small plastic box from Staples that had latches to keep it closed and decorated it with stickers and kept it in our day bag.

During our second Splash Mountain ride (on my actual birthday) we got to sit in the front car. PJ and I were having a blast. We went down the last mountain and were screaming -- but when we were done he was still screaming and crying.

He did NOT hit himself on anything . . . The force from coming down the mountain dislodged the tooth and it was hanging by a thread. He had some blood on his mouth. I kept speaking to him in a reassuring voice and told him we would take care of it. We pulled into the ride to disembark and some folks saw this poor kid with the dangling tooth and blood on his face (not a lot). The young man running the ride reminded those waiting that it was a slow water ride.

PJ and I headed right to first aid. My husband stopped at Aloha Isle to get me my birthday Dole Whip :) The park was getting crazy as everyone was setting up for the electric parade. We made our way past the Brazilian tour groups and throngs of people and met the most wonderful RN.

She had such a calming voice. We got some gauze and then my husband and my 16 year old stepson ZJ caught up to us. ZJ was awesome. He gently wiggled the tooth while holding it in the gauze saying -does this hurt? Does this hurt? PJ said no. And the POP! It was out.

The nurse gave us a voucher for not one but two Itzakadoozie -- the largest popsicle I have ever seen :) She said one for the brave young man and the other for his kind and helpful brother.

We then made our way out -- we had hoped to get dinner in Downtown Disney and get to bed for an early morning and then flight home . . . As we crossed Main Street at a corner PJ tripped and fell. His light up sword broke -- it was one I brought from home. Of course several people checked to make sure he was OK and before I could say anything we had another voucher -- for a Disney light up sword. I tried to decline it but the gentleman insisted. We had to backtrack a bit to find one of the carts but now PJ had an ice pop and a cool light up sword.

We never made it to Downtown Disney but I will say that my 40th birthday was most certainly magical and memorable :)

We did not do any meet and greets. Here is a picture of the noodle station I found on the web:

Thanks so much for the info!!

What a great way to celebrate your 40th! (Being at Disney I mean) Glad your son was ok after his two situations and how great is it that you have such a wonderful step-son!?

Last August my 27 yr. old DD made her first trip back to The World after the death of her husband in 2009. They'd honeymooned at DW and our arrival date was their anniversary. A "special welcome" from her sister at check-in "clued in" the fabulous CM behind the registration desk. DD left the desk with her sister to visit with her nieces and the CM asked me a few more questions. Our rooms weren't ready yet but when we returned later she'd sent cupcakes to the room with a note to "Have A Magical Stay"....

DD receiving her surprise from her sister:

Later at HS we were given 6 Fastpasses to Star Tours by this special lady. She was sending as much of her earnings as possible back to her family in Chile as they were still recovering from the earthquake.

...and FINALLY...as we were waiting for the ME bus for the sad trip home, the same DD discovered her iPod was missing from her backpack. A CM working with the luggage came over and asked if there was a problem. He returned a short time later, with the iPod! :yay: It had fallen out of the backpack and was on the ground where our luggage was waiting to be loaded. A MAGICAL end to a MAGICAL vacation!

Rechecking her bag for the iPod:

My husband and I don't have any kids, but we go to Disney by ourselves. Because we're adults most of the time our character interactions are a little lackluster. However the last time we went we ate at the Crystal Palace and when Tigger came to the table he saw my husband's beard and rubbed his hand across Daniel's cheek and then rubbed his own face. It was really cute and just made Daniel's day because he loves Tigger.

On about the fourth morning of our trip last year, we were getting ready for DHS, and wanted to be there at rope drop to get on Toy Story...when all of a sudden my DBF could not find a substantial amount of money and was panicking after we looked for awhile. He was getting more and more impatient, and his nephew (who's first trip it was) was getting impatient so I said why don't you call the front office and see if you can get some help from our room's cleaning crew...maybe they saw it out and put it somewhere while they cleaned and forgot to move it back. Meanwhile nephew and I went to the pool...it was a the best thing that we could've done that day. Our nephew wanted to go on the slide at OKW so badly! We had gotten there before it opened. Once the lifeguards came out and they were ready to open the pool, a CM came over to the area we were swimming and asked our nephew if he wanted to help open the pool! He got out, went over to the slide and had to say Abra Cadabra! The CM presented him with a pirate bandana, a certificate, and two pins! He was the pool pirate of the day! I was so sad that my boyfriend missed it, but after a little while longer he came back, money had been found (it slipped behind the bed headboard!), so we swam awhile and headed to DHS for lunch! Morning was totally salvaged thanks to great CMs!

We just got back from our trip last week and this happened to my daughter at the Poly, except she was princess of the day. The lifeguard brought her to the top of the volcano pool before it opened and announced her name, age, where she's from, and favorite ride at Disney. She presented her with a lei and let her be the first person down the waterside. Afterwards, he took her photo in front of the pool and presented her with the photo and certificate in a folder! She was beside herself!

last year for my DD's 6th birthday we made a small trip to Disney for just 2 days in the parks with my parents. Once we checked into POP and she got her birthday pin, she got sooooo many "Happy Birthday, Elizabeth", "Happy Birthday, Princess" princess: Everywhere she went people wished her Happy Birthday. As if that wasn't special enough, we rode Test Track for the first time. I wasn't so sure whether she would like it or not. She was kind of afraid of trying new rides, but I kept telling her how much I loved this ride and how fun it was, especially the fast part outside. Well she ended up LOVING this ride. She got off the ride and said "I wish I could ride that again. That was so fun. It's my new favorite ride." :yay: As we left the ride a CM came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder and whispered to her "Would you like to do that again?" She jumped up and down with joy saying "Yes, Yes, Yes." So he took us around a special way that brought us out to the fast pass line and we got right back on TT. I don't know if it was because she had that birthday pin on or whether he could tell how excited she was or if he realized it was her first time, but whatever the case, he truly made her day and a memory that will last us forever!:wizard:

We just got back last week and this happened to my DD who is 7 on the rockin' Rollercoaster. For the passed few trips she hasn't been tall enough to ride but this year she was and was very excited about it! After the ride was over she said loudly "that was life changing!" Very dramatic, but made me laugh. A CM in the ride unloading area heard her say this and asked if she would like to skip the line and ride this again. She took my daughter and the rest of our party through a back stairwell and all of the sudden we were at the front of the fast pass line. She let us on the next arriving "limo" and let us have the first and second row of the car! We were very thankful of the special moment!

On our last trip I would see the staff always cleaning and painting. Every morning, they would be washing the pool area, and lounge chairs, with spray power washers. One CM in particular, always said "Good morning Princess", to my DD. I'd look, and there he was in rubber boots and washer in hand, always smiling. It got to the point I was looking forward to seeing him and hearing his greeting every day. I know he wasn't talking to me, but DD. Still, I loved his daily greetings. I made sure to notify WDW, and let them know how special his friendly demeanor made us feel.

One time we were eating at Tusker House , AK. We needed some assistance cleaning a table, and met David, a CM. I realized he was deaf, so I made sure to talk slowly and face him when I spoke. I signed thank you to him (thats about all the signing I know) when he wiped the table. Then I asked him for a straw for DD, forgetting that no straws were allowed. This was before the cardboard straws they have now. At that time, no straws were allowed. He brought her a non disposable plastic cup with lid and straw, very much like a childs travel mug. We still have it, and think of him whenever we use it. Before we left, he brought her some trading pins and traded with her. We have seen him only once since then, and always look for him, but havn`t seen him in a while. Still, we always think of him when we pass the Tusker House. He was a very genuine and sincere person, helpful, and most considerate. We made sure to mention him to GS on our way out.

We have had so many special interactions with CMs over the years it's hard toc hoose just one but on our last trip we had some great CMs at the Buzz and Woody M&G that really made my DS day. My DS is special needs and we get a GAC pass for him for rides but the pass doesn't work for character lines so we usually only wait for characters if they have short lines. Finally after 3 trips we came upon Buzz and Woody with a relatively short line so we get in it. Right as we were about to go into the inside part of the line my DS started to have a meltdown, not sure what triggered it but he did not want to get in that line. He wanted to see the guys still but for some reason was afraid to go in the building :confused3 I told my DH to go ahead with the other kids and we would wait outside. Well a CM saw all of this occur and came up to me and asked if my DS still wanted to see Buzz and Woody, I said yes but explained the situation. She had another CM grab my DH and other children out of line and lead me over to the exit. She explained that she didn't want my DS to miss out on seeing the guys so she was going to break the rules a bit:lovestruc We were brought into the building and went directly in to see Buzz and Woody. The look on my DS was priceless, the tears disappeared and he ran to Woody to give him a big hug. Thankfully the PP guy was able to get it all on film!

We have always had great interactions with the cast members but on our last trip there were numerous times we had special things done for us just by chatting with them. Our first one was at HS one night and it was pouring rain and we were standing underneath the toy story ride fast pass area for some cover. Two cast members were there and just started talking with us and our kids. They said to my son (9) if you answer these three questions we will give you a surprise. All the questions were about pixar movies and he answered them all correct! So they said come with us and led us into a special entrance for the ride that had an hour wait and put us at the front of the line no wait. The next night we were at MK and my DH and myself were with two of our kids waiting in line to meet buzz. My other daughter was standing off to the side with my mom, she had lost her autograph book and was upset so didn't want to meet him. A cast member was standing there talking to my mom and asked why she didn't want to meet buzz. My mom told her what happened and the cast member said I will be right back and came back with a new autograph book for her! The next morning we were on our way back to MK and talking with the bus driver and my son was saying how he wanted to ride space mountain first. So the driver pulled out a special hand written fast pass and gave it to us so we wouldn't have to wait! Just a few little extras that really make Disney such a special place!

Since we are a family of three adults when we come to WDW we don't usually seek anything special thinking that kids deserve the real treats of a CM etc. but our last trip we were at AK and the lines looked very long for almost everything. We were about to turn around and leave to exit the park instead of getting in line for the Kilimanjaro Safari when a CM came up to us and handed us fast passes for the Safari. Even my normally dour DH's face lit up and we all smiled and got immediately in the FP line for the Safari. We've had many fastpasses and used them but this was the best ever!

I always have mixed feelings about threads like these....I can't NOT read them because they are so darn cute, but they are also always a reminder to me that in four trips in three years, NOTHING has ever happened to us! LOL!
Not so much as a cookie for my kids, even when we were there ON my DSs birthday and he was walking around with not only his birthday pin, but the special "It's My Birthday" ears we got him.

We always have smiles on our faces, are often wearing "themed" shirts, my kids are polite and respectful, and we are the types to say "no problem" when we wait 45 minutes past out ADR time with small hungry kids. We've often given leftover FPs to incoming families on our way out of a park, etc.
The more I read the more it seems only screaming, or pouty, or unhappy kids get noticed (with some exceptions noted)

I have to be really honest and say that after the last trip I really started to sour on WDW, but we decided to go back...one more time. It's going to be another visit that falls over the same DSs birthday but I won't have any expectations...:sad2:

I know all that just sounded like total "Negative Nellie", but I really do think all the extra magic people get is fun to read about and I'm happy for them.:thumbsup2

We have had several instances of CM magic through out all of our stays. Our most notable to me at least all center around my youngest son who has cerebral palsy. He can walk utilizing his crutches for periods of time, but at the World with everyone rushing to get where they need to be, we have him sit in his stroller otherwise he would be knocked down all the time.

I have 3 notable experiences and sorry for the length:

1) We were at Animal Kingdom and just got out of the Festival of the Lion King when it started to down pour as typical in the afternoon in Florida. However this one was lasting longer than usual. We did not pack for a rain storm and had nothing to cover my sons feet to protect his braces. I walked over to a couple of carts near the exit of the show and asked if they had any bags that we could use to cover his feet. Unfortunately they only had the small bags, but a manager heard my explanaition and asked me to hold on a minute. She came back with a brand new child poncho for him. I was shocked and mentioned that it was not necessary, but she insisted and I thanked her very much.

2) When my son was 6 he was still wearing diapers, but trying to potty train. He would try to go to the bathroom and of course we would have to put on a new diaper. Needless to say we were running out with a few days left on our vacation. I went to the resort shop as they had diapers, but not my son's size. They called all around the World to see if they had his size to no avail. Of course we never rent a car because of taking the ME. The assistant manager offered to go to the nearest Walgreens to purchase diapers for us. I was stunned to say the least by the offer. When she arrived back, she gave us our change and I tried to pay her for her trip, but said it was not necessary as it allowed for her to have a nice long talk with her son in another state.

3) Last (again sorry for so long), was when he was 7 and he and his 8 year old brother were really into Star Wars. My older son wanted to do the Jedi training at HS and he was chosen. My younger son was a little intimidated especially after Darth Vader pointed at him directly in the beginning. Later on in our vacation younger son finally decides he wants to do it. Luckily both he and the older son were chosen together. Dad when up on stage with him to hold his hips while he stood and did the routine as well as fight Darth Vader. After the kids received their certificates a CM asked for me to wait a moment as their manager wanted to talk to us.

The manager came over complimenting younger son on his bravery facing Darth Vader and his skills. Then he proceeded to hand younger son a red light saber signed by Darth Vader himself. Of course younger son was thrilled beyond belief. The manager then noticed that my older son had also been in the show and mentioned he would be right back. A couple minutes later he proceeded to hand my older son a red light saber with Darth Vader's signature on it. It was amazing and made both their trips.

CM are amazing individuals and are what make our trips so wonderful. BTW, we did mention these CM's actions to their supervisors or to Guest Relations for they amazing interactions to us.

Last November on my first solo trip I was at DHS and was looking for somewhere for a CS dinner while looking at my map. I chose the Backlot Express, but didn't notice that they had closed about 2 minutes before (the hours were on the map, I just didn't look at it). When I walked in I saw the CMs cleaning up and the register CMs closing their registers and started to walk out. One of the girls at the registers asked me if I needed anything and I told them I was looking for dinner but had neglected to look at the hours. She said that they hadn't gotten rid of any of the food yet, so if I wanted something that they still had some leftovers of I could order it.

While we were talking the manager, Michael, came over and overheard what we had said. He asked me what I wanted and I asked if they had a Turkey sandwich left. He went back to check and brought me out one with fries and a cup and told me to get a drink too. I tried to pay, but he told me the registers were all closed so I could have it for free. I thanked him several times but he just told me it was not a big deal and to enjoy my meal. It was a small thing, but I really appreciated it. I was sure to talk to GS on my way out about him and the girl at the register (whose name escapes me at the moment) for their kindness.
