So this is probably a random question but I thought I'd ask anyway...

Is it possible to use the shower in the gym area / spa area even if you don't have a treatment or use the gym?

I'm just curious because the showers in the stateroom are so tiny, and I was wondering if there was another option. Also, I thought I saw someone else a while back post something similar but couldn't find it again.

I believe this is true. This is only based on my reading of the boards. I'm sure an expert will respond very soon.

Very nice of you to ask first, Laine A. :cutie: Funny you ask this because DH and I just got off a quick weekend cruise on the Dream and talked about this very thing. I think it shows great consideration for you to think about this beforehand and ask. :flower:

It's only my opinion, but I think the showers in the spa should first be there for those folks paying the bucks for spa treatments. My DH actually had to wait for a shower after his spa treatment because they were all being used (I think he said there were 3 total). It is highly unlikely that all 3 people were paying spa guests. It just doesn't seem right to me that anyone of the adult passengers can saunter in to use the spa facilities when they aren't paying to use the spa. I have no doubt that there will be a number of folks that will be upset about that statement but I stand by it. Perhaps if it was a very slow day at the spa, it wouldn't pose a problem. I just wish they would make the spa facilities less accessible to those not having spa appointments.

I have to assume that if you're using the gym the showers are there for you to use though correct? The only reason I ask is that if I remember correctly, when you walk by the spa treatment desk, you pass the gym entrance first and then they take you back to the locker area. Or is there another set of showers for gym patrons that I missed when I had my massage? I didn't use the gym last time.

Yes, I would certainly assume the showers are there for those using the gym if they choose. Only one set of showers in the spa & gym area on all the ships.

Yes, the showers in the locker rooms are for all adults to use. On the Dream and Fantasy there is a steam room in the locker room to use, also. Not sure about the Magic and Wonder.

My understanding is that the gym equipment is for adult use also (free). (I prefer to get my exercise by walking around the ship, not on a treadmill. :yay:).

Yes - anyone is free to use the showers in the spa/gym area (there is only 1 set). On all of my cruises we did this, and there never seemed to be anyone there! We never had to wait for a shower and no one had to wait for us to finish either - I suppose it depends on what time you go but they never seemed to be in huge demand. Certainly much more roomy and enjoyable than the stateroom showers, and for groups with more than a few people in their cabin it comes in very handy!

My stateroom guest and I both did this on our Alaskan Wonder cruise this past September. No issue.

Then do you stand by your original comment or are folks using the gym allowed to use the showers?

@Laine Anderson the showers are part of the gym and spa and are open to any adult on the ship and they are fantastic. I love spending15 minutes in the sauna then using the showers there and then getting ready for dinner.

The spa treatments don't start until later in the morning so I've used the gym showers after my early morning workout.
I always try to be considerate and leave the locker room how I would like to find it. I've shown many people how to use the lockers, shown them where the slippers are, and always wipe down the shower after I'm through and put down a dry bathmat. for the
The locker room attendants have a tough job (on the Sept transatlantic, the shower drains were blocked for days, so they had to mop up ALL of the shower water from the floor). I try to be courteous, and have mentioned them by name on my comment card.

I don't make the rules. And I'm not going to be baited to get into an argument. Though in my many cruises I certainly have seen the showers in the spa pretty quiet, it doesn't seem equitable that a paying spa guest OR someone that has just used the gym facilities (which happen to be included INSIDE the spa btw), would have to wait for a shower because someone that was not using the facilities just wanted a bigger shower. That's my opinion. The OP's logical question asked about someone using the showers that was NOT using the spa/gym facilities. Read it here:

Fwiw, neither DW or I have showered in our stateroom the past 2 cruises and aren't planning to this spring break. Over that many showers (late afternoon) I think one of us has had a wait or had someone waiting maybe twice.

That may be your opinion but it is not posted anywhere that the showers are for the use of the gym and/or spa guests only. Which is why I posted the following:

We were on the Wonder this summer, and my DD and I used the showers there twice in the late afternoon. We did not have any spa treatments or workout. The first time there wasn't anyone there before or after our showers. The second time I had to wait. There are lockers for your clothes, shower shoes, towels, and robes for your use. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap are also available in the shower stalls. On the Wonder, there are two showers available. So much nicer than the small showers in the room.

I use the showers all the time and I don't pay the overpriced rates for the spa. I don't even pay for the Rainforest Room, though my wife always gets a length-of-cruise RR pass. It's nice to have a showerhead at a normal height and not steam up our stateroom. I've *never* had to wait for a shower, and have never had anybody waiting for one when I got out. In fact, I've only seen 4 people in the locker rooms in all my ventures there.

As a paying cruise customer, my fare includes access to the gym and its amenities (shower, waters, etc) as often as I would like...nothing says I have to workout IN THE GYM prior to my shower.

FWIW, they have better products in the gym locker room than in the staterooms.

Not an expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...

I swear I saw something from Disney stating that the showers were open to all adults. I will try to find it and post.
