Shouldn't there be some rumors by now

Me too! Waiting anxiously to book for a grand reunion.
But I am worried I won't be able to check the rate online because the current discount code up to Oct 1st keeps on including park tickets as a package and not just room only rate.:headache:
I have cleared out all my cookies, try different computer in my house. Just about everything but it still give me a package deal.
I so do not want to have to call CR for inquiry....dear me!:scared:

Anybody have any idea? THANKS in advance.

I just got an email about a 25% off rack rate for Sept (I think it is the same dates as the free dining but not totally sure). I got excited with the email cause we are looking to go in Jan but waiting on a deal before I book. I had forgot that at one point we were talking about sept and I think when I ordered the planning DVD I said Sept so that is why my offer was for Sept...got to get that changed in the system somehow...

But anyway I would call about the 25% off. I dont think it was a pin.

I've done everything to get one of those elusive pins- priced trips and saved them, ordered the planning DVD and maps, everything short of standing on my head and clicking my heels 3 times. I used to get pins all the time and now when I'm ready to go...NOTHING!!!! It's so frustrating! I don't know if I have enough patience to get me through until next month when they may or may not release something. :headache:

Thanks for the heads up! I'll watch on tuesday. If you think about it and see it, will you post back here? :teeth:

Well, troops, just checked and Southwest is having a birthday sale---select cities---and of course, Orlando is not one of them

So I guess its back to hurry up and wait, and wait, and wait. It's not looking good for us, no Disney discount, excessive airfare equals no Disney vacation.

We just can't seem to catch a break on this at any point!

Keep checking! My flight down decreased from $109 to $80 since I checked at 6am today. Still very high for flight back at $275.

Mine was 144 each way when I looked last week. Last night I looked again and on my return day it was all over the map from 180 to 310..... just for the return flight! :scared1:

This morning there were good 144 options again that day. This is just NUTS!

Did you check AirTran as well?? I had one $80 flight on SW from Orlando to Pgh (looking at Monday, 10/3) but it was 6am :scared1:. But there was also one on AirTran at 11:00am. So, it may depend on your dates - but make sure to check AirTran.

I am actually kicking that idea around in my head. Even paying for 1 bag per person, it is still cheaper that Southwest. The only thing I really dislike about Airtran is they are notorious for changing flight times.

I can snag $80 each way, but I do prefer SW departure time--5:15 pm to Airtran's 11:15 am, but hey, beggars cant be choosers!! :rotfl2:

Yikes - didn't know that! As in, pushing back 15 minutes or so, or totally rescheduling the flight??

Do keep in mind Airtran (at least historically) has been non-refundable. And there has been a hefty price for changing flights. With no dates for deals announced yet from Disney, you can't change as easily by a day or 2 to catch the right check-in day for free dining. Of course, I think we're pretty settled. If they announce it, I think it will have a black out for the week prior to the 11th. But we plan to check in on the 10th and pay for a room only that night if needed. At least at a value resort, that won't break the bank.

And I will add that BOTH times we flew Air-tran, they changed flight times on us.

Neither of our changes were huge..... under an hour. But it made me uneasy not knowing for sure from the get-go.

Very good points!! My hope is to do room only for the 17th so that we can attend the MNSSHP on the 18th and depart on the 25th. I can tweek the dates a little like arriving on the 11th or after, if Southwest would be gracious :worship:

I think all I can do is hope for the best, but expect the worst. I know Disney said that they are cutting back on the discounts, but with the economy and high airfare, I think there may be a lot of people rethinking their trip this year.

I think their version of cutting back on discounts is by raising ticket prices early, raising room rates and raising dining rates, thereby bumping the cost of the baseline the discounts are based on.

I'd lay good money they're coming.....

Okay - this is getting frustrating! Apparently the airfare sale is only on through Thursday, but the rumor is that the AP discounts will come out on Friday! I guess I better book SW and then at least I can change if the room discount doesn't come through. I've really never had this trouble booking our vacations in the past :headache:

Talk about frustrating. Not only were there no destinations TO Orlando in the sale, there weren't ANY sale flights from KC where we are!

I tend to agree with you , I am thinking a FD promo running from Oct -sometime in 2012(ergo the early release of room rates, tix prices, and new DP) similar to how they released the FD promo last year.

The rumor mill doesn't usually fire up in earnest until a week or so before the new offer comes. My guess is an extension of free dining coming in July that will go at least through the value season bit of Feb, hence the early ticket price increase and package details, and I would not be surprised if in the vein of scaling back the discounts the offer is QS at values & mods for the first time instead of the offer we're used to. I think that's part of the reason they kept the QS pricing unchanged for next year, to make that the base offer knowing that many people will upgrade to the higher plans.

Last year the FD extension came in late July so I don't even expect rumors for another 2-3 weeks at the minimum.

We are waiting just like everyone else. Need to go ahead and book airfare..got a good deal, but a little nervous on getting the right dates for the trip.

Can I book a room only now and if free dining comes out convert that over to free dining with tickets? Or will I have to cancel that room all together? We are looking at family suites or a cabin. Have 5 people going.

I would call and have them price something out for you..but don't book. Then call a few days later and see if you have a pin. I saw recently where someone on the DIS did this, and ended up with a 20 percent off pin. After reading that..I called and asked about my reservation (I have put down the deposit at this point), to see if any discount has come up and told them that we were considering switching to off-site for a bigger room (and for free on Hilton points)..she told me that she saw a pin attached to my name, but was unable to open it..interesting. She said to call back WEd or Thurs. when it should be activated. During our discussions I told her my husband really wasn't into cramming into the room at POR, but that I really wanted to stay onsite. Asked about any DVC resorts that may have a low occupancy that they are offering at a discount. So...wondering if she put something on there to seal the deal? I can't stand the wait until tomorrow to see! Anyway...can't hurt to call and see.
