Sunpass mini sticker a good thing or annoying and complicated?

We love our SunPass Pro. We used the visitor toll pass a few times and it was very easy but having our own is even easier. It takes a few minutes to input the plate/tag number and we’re set. The hardest part is remembering to grab it at the airport when we return the car.

So we got to Florida and tried the Sunpass mini and that was a argument inducing nightmare of aggravating wasted time. The app just won't work at all, horrendous and no customer service. We would get 90% through then it would just stall.

I am so glad I listened to people and brought our EZpass from home just in case because once we realized it was a mind numbing giant time suck we just added the rental plate number to our home account to expire when we leave and it was done.

Refunding Sunpass mini sticker mess to Walmart, such a great big yikes nope

Can you add your rental car plate to your ez pass account? Sun pass lets you add multiple plates, you just pay the "pay by plate" rate. You would have to remove it once you return the car, but at least it's an account you already have.

I may be in the minority, but I just pay the added fee through the rental car company. The major brands all have the license plates registered already so there is nothing extra you need to do. I looked at my last trip's invoice at is an extra 25% above the toll rate. To me, it's well worth not thinking about it and just heading straight out with the rental car.

Edit: National's fee is $4.95 a day on any day you incurr a toll. It's not a percentage of the tolls.

This is me, too...I won't bring my own EZ Pass so I don't have to try and remember to take it at the end of the trip.

Budget only charges a fee on a day that you actually use a toll road, and then the actual tolls. Is it more expensive than using VTP? Sure...but IMO not by much, and it saves the time of having to get to a kiosk and getting the tag at the start, and finding the drop-off at the end of the trip. I walk from my plane to the parking garage and pick up my car (Fast Break member...no stopping at the desk) and I'm on my way. I drive up to rental return, drop the car, and head to security.

On a Disney trip time is money...and for me, doing it this way is a time saver and worth the cost.

Depends on what state's EZ Pass you have. Some of them you can, some you can't, and some you can but only during business hours.

The Sunpass Mini is NOT intended for use in rental cars. Once it is removed, it no longer works. If one is buying a Sunpass prior to arrival, they should have an account already setup. You have 48 hours after hitting a toll to actually add your rental car and plate information to your account. It doesn't have to be done before you go through a toll. The plate information is also only needed if the toll readers are not able to read your transponder.
