Shouldn't there be some rumors by now

I agree with both these posts. Thanks to the pp who tried to point out the possibility of an offsite trip.:goodvibes

I have priced out an offsite trip but we are a family of 5. Yes, it's a few hundred dollars cheaper, but the convenience of being onsite, no rental car, and no meal preparation for a week is worth that savings. We have to find a room that will hold 5 and get a minivan and pay for parking for the week, which adds up. I don't want to make food/lunches on vacation, even if it's cheaper; I prepare meals at home and don't want to lug around a cooler/lunches at WDW. We also love to do character meals and HDDR, so we still make out on FD.

So in a nutshell, come on FD in November!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Same here!!! It my vacation too. I don't want to be bothered with renting and driving around in a mini van making lunch etc. either. I can do that all at home for free.:goodvibes

So I wonder if most of the FD lovers are moms????

Heck, half the vacation for me is eating nice food the entire week without having to lift a finger. We're a family of 5, and I'm working on a plan to get everyone to just stop eating, but so far it hasn't worked.

I'm with all the mom's waiting for the FD! We are already booked for POFQ in Oct. and I'm hoping they cover the week of the 15th with FD. The FD really helps us - another family of 5 and one of those is a teenage boy. Teenage boys eat enough for 2! :)

AMEN! I priced out an off site this year so the kids could have their own room, and the more I detailed it out, the less fun it seemed. I'll pack snacks, but I'M ON VACATION!

:rotfl::rotfl:

If you figure out how to do that, let me know! My waist could use it, too!

I'll keep you posted. 2 in our group are teenage boys. So you see, this is a MOST challenging assignment......

We planned WDW many months ago. Since summer has hit we have had an enormous amount of extra things come up that has hit the checking account hard. DD made cheerleader ($900 + and still going up), had house painted, replaced upstairs AC unit, DS was injured in sports and had physical therapy that insurance did not cover, etc...so DH has been concerned about if we can afford WDW this year without going broke. He saw the total amount with no discounts and said we just can't go this year. I have been trying to find less expensive options and still go so I priced out staying at different resorts, using gift certificates off restaurants.com etc.... to make things cheaper. I was able to get it down to a good final cost plus staying at a very nice resort (about the same for us staying at POR with FD). When I showed DH and DS15 what we could do - their response was "stay off property??" and looked at me like I cancelled Christmas. DS said "no dining plan, no 'Ohanas, no character meals??" and I said yes but we can get by doing it this way. Their response was absolutely not. So - - - I sit and wait, hoping for FD at this house.

LOL! What a Grinch you are trying to cancel Christmas like that!

For us, the character meals are a big part of the fun. And if you've priced out what they cost for a family, it almost makes the dining plan a necessity.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you (which conveniently means they are crossed for me too......) :wizard:

:sad1: I can totally imagine the looks on their faces.

Count me as another mom who's waiting, hoping, praying, wishing for FD for December, lol. With my DH & 2 teenage sons, it's a huge deal for us!!

I just wish Disney would come out with it already!!

I'm a Dad, not a Mom, but Free Dining would certainly make me think long and hard about taking the tribe to WDW in either November or January. My family all loves the FD!

I'm a mom and always do all the planning. I would LOVE FD for this trip since it's one I just sort of slipped into the works. We've went to DW around Christmas a few years back and have wanted to go back during that time again! This will be a value stay for us since we're planning a graduation trip in June. My brother-in-law flies SW every week for business and always has free tickets, so with that AND FD I can't pass it up!!! Fingers crossed.....

I'm a mom but I'd count DH as the bigger dining plan lover in our family. I could handle going the TiW/AP route if not for having to listen to him gripe about the prices. We go DxDDP so I don't have to hear a peep out of him all week!

I agree with your definition of vacation, though. Eating good food and having maid service is a big part of what makes any vacation relaxing, and I'm only willing to relax those expectations when the destination makes it absolutely necessary (like when we cabin-camp up north, where the dining opportunities are limited and the self-serve accommodations are part of the appeal). If I'm traveling in "civilization" I want to come back to a clean room, a pool to relax in at the end of the day, and someone else doing the cooking & cleaning.

^^This! I want the dining plan so I don't have to pay for any meal while there & here DH complain at the bill, lol!

LOL! They should put THIS one in their sales brochure! :lmao: I feel the same way!

Hi everyone,

I'm hesitant to post this in case it's somehow not accurate (please don't yell at me). I am planning a trip in Jan2012, and I was on the phone with a CM yesterday asking when he would guess discounts might be announced for that period, if they were going to do them. He said they just announced free dining through November 18, and he used that to make a guess about when they might announce discounts for January. I checked on the website today, and I didn't see it out there. It didn't appear to be on Mousesavers either, so I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe those of you going then may want to check on it? He made it sound like it was a general offer for everyone, so I don't know... For all you going then, I really hope it's true! And hopefully this isn't something you all already know.

Man, I'm gonna hope that's not right. I wouldn't know WHAT to think at that point (since we're going in December). We didn't get the great Southwest rates either because they ended mid-November.

I think Tink hit him too hard with the Pixie Dust! There is evidently no free dining out for Oct-Dec. as of yet and the only way I would see Nov.18th as an end date is if they planned on extending the dates in mid-August (like they do every year).
Maybe the CM had read some memo about the upcoming free dining and it read "XX/XXX - Nov. 18th and XX/XXX - Dec. 22nd"...maybe just didn't read the second part. :confused3
I have a hard time believing that Disney is not going to offer free dining past Nov. 18th when so many of the November and December PIN's include Nov. 26th - Dec. 22nd!
Maybe the CM was referring to some PIN's that went out yesterday and he got confused...wouldn't be the first time!!:rotfl2:

I just assumed they WOULD extend it. The guy I talked to (lovely man) said he thought later dates would come out by end of August. Maybe they WOULD extend it? We went in Dec. 2009, and the end date was Dec. 17. I thought I remembered it being earlier in the fall, and then later dates were released? Here's hoping for pixie dust all around!
