We aren't real buffet fans, but I'm curious about trying Cape May Cafe and Boma for dinner. Should we do it? We're trying to think of new restaurants to try for our next trip. So far, we plan to try Portobello Yacht Club and Le Cellier, but aren't sure where else to try. I'm thinking of also giving Whispering Canyon Cafe a try, as we haven't eaten there in 6 years. We'll be hitting up the usuals, the Plaza Restaurant, Mama Melrose, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and Chefs de France. Oh, and since we'll be staying at the BW, how is Big River Grille?

Thanks for any opinions. ;)

I've never tried the Cape May Buffet for dinner so I can not comment about trying there, but my son (18 at the time) and I really enjoyed Boma. There was a good selection of "regular food" as well as some ethnic foods. I do not like any spices, but I did enjoy trying everything.
Try Boma, I think you will like it.

It is actually quite good and pretty reasonable when you concider what you're getting. They have steamed seafood, so it's not all hard and greasy. We have been there when they had spare ribs that were quite tasty as well as prime rib. There were numerous items on the kids bar as well. Oh ywah, adults are welcome to raid the kids food too ;) ;) . The desert bar was to die for! Individual little key lime tarts, cheesecake, chocolate cake, the list goes on forever. ALso to be a buffet you don't feel as if they're trying to rush you out the door. Excellent service.

Never been to Boma but ate at Cape May for the first time last trip. It was one of our favorite places - excellent selection of food and good atmosphere.

We've eaten at Boma but not Cape May. We enjoyed Boma a lot and plan to eat there another time. BIL and his family also ate there and enjoyed it. We've eaten at Big River Grille twice and do not care for it. We thought maybe the first time was just an off night. We really enjoyed Spoodles on the BW.

We've eaten at Cape May and Boma many times, including both on our recent trip a few weeks ago. Both are excellent, but they feature different items. Cape May has many seafood choices, as well as lots of other items. Boma is obviously African themed, with many interresting and delicious dishes that you won't find elsewhere. Many people rave about the zebra domes at Boma (and rightly so, they are great), but we absolutely love the Oreo bons bons at Cape May. They are worth the price of admission all by themselves!

I ate at both restaurants this past June. The buffet at Cape May is pretty typical fare. The food was good, but it wasn't outstanding. The characters Goofy, Chip or Dale and Minnie are pretty attentive and the service was good/excellent.

I liked Boma, but I like to try new things. There was a lot of variety. My favorites included the salmon and the peanut rice. It reminded me of Thai rice. My colleague also liked Boma, but thought that many of the offerings were very sweet. The desserts were very good, the zebra domes were my favorite, but there was some sort of pudding that was good too. The price is around $23 per person, but I thought that it was worth it.

I love BOMA! Great food, incredible quality and exciting new tastes. We eat there every visit to WDW and look forward to it each time.

Enjoy!!!!!!!:space:

MMMMMM... Oreo bonbons...
Now you've got me drooling. A month until I can have them again. I can make it a month. I hope.
ANYWAY.
As you can tell, you've found a big Cape May Cafe fan here. Went for the first time last year (on the advice of DH-to-be's mom), and liked it so much we called an audible one night and went there again later in the week!
And we've scheduled our PS for our Disneymoon the first week in November. This time, though, in addition to the buffet, we're going to see about ordering the lobster/crab legs on the side. It's all included in the silver plan, so why not, eh?
Oh, and we've also got a PS for breakfast at Boma one day. It'll be our first time there, but we've heard wonderful things about it and are very much looking forward to new cuisine and Frunch!
I'd say try both. Happy dining!
Cheers,

Cape May only has characters for their breakfest buffet. Their dinner buffet is quite good but not our fav. Boma is excellent and a must do for us. We now prefer Fresh, located at the Dolphin for our favorite breakfest buffet!

Definately Boma - I'd pass on Cape May. I don't think their dinner is very good at all. Even my son, who is a Seafood Maniac, doesn't want to eat there again....

Cape May Cafe for dinner is not to be missed if you like seafood. We are going there twice during our upcoming trip at xmas. ::MickeyMo
