seven dwarves mine train on fire

analogy [uh-nal-uh-jee] noun, plural analogies. "a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based"
Yeah, but using an analogy based on one of the greatest tragedies to occur on US soil to compare to a Disney theme park ride with a superficial fire that injured no one? Talk about poor taste...

Now all we need is someone to post a POV of the ride, cause I would love to see some dwarfs walking around with half their body melted off :rotfl2:

In all seriousness, I'm glass that nothing major happened, and disney maintenance will probably have the ride looking new again by next week

Glad it was a small fire and everyone is safe! I know they worked hard on that ride it would have been sad for something worse to happen or for anyone to get hurt.

Surprised they are reopening, but happy to hear as we have FP's in three weeks for it!!! From earlier reports I was afraid it would still be closed then! Happy no one was injured.

Robert Feder, a local Chicago journalist, posted on Facebook a few minutes ago: "Fire breaks out on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Disney World; Grumpy identified as a person of interest.” :rotfl2:

We were there tonight and was going to head to the ride around 10 after dinner at CRT. The back was roped off and we lucked/forced into great seats for the fireworks so we decided to do that instead. After the fireworks we headed in that direction but opted to have a smoke first and a CM pointed us to the closest area and told us to hold off on going to SDMT. We saw Celebrate the Magic and the Electrical Parade and came back to our room and saw a slew of messages on facebook on our earlier SDMT pictures about the fire. Weird how I was no more than a 1000 yards away and my buddies in New England knew more about it than I did.

Disney has the benefit of being its own municipal government, including the fire department. But I think they'll take every proper precaution.

The power Disney wields blows me away. I can't imagine any other park reopening a ride within an hour after a fire, albeit one that apparently was cosmetic. The pictures looked worse than it was, I guess...

Ride officially reopened about ten minutes ago. Videos of the fire are on my Instagram @festivaloffantasyparade but be aware that we are teenagers who have been in the parks all day so we may not make too much sense. But there's a video of the ride running if anyone doubts me. I'd said more my fingers can barely type in this cold. Hope nobody got too freaked out.

Thanks for posting FoF!

That was one wild and crazy night. I hope your fingers are warmed up by now. We froze to death last March 1. When it gets cold in Florida it is wicked cold.

I'm glad it wasn't that big a deal after all. Now I guess we wait for Monday to see if that FP+ Only trial materializes or if that was just forum fears at work.

Maybe someone can confirm for us tomorrow who is visiting MK! I would also think there would have to be safety checks that need to pass prior to it going back online. Maybe the queue line is just lit up with a standard 90mins showing but it's really closed? Just a guess as to what the eyewitness may be seeing.
I have a FP for tomorrow night, so I can confirm, but I'm pretty sure it'll be closed.
Remember how long enchanted tiki room was down after the fire there?
There were posts pretty early on in this thread saying that everyone was evacuated and safe... And then there was a post that that wasn't actually confirmed. So if someone saw the first and not the second, I don't know that I'd treat any jokes too harshly. It's the way some of us deal with stress...

Lauren, the Mine Train is now open.

Lol - I just saw that! I replied to the post asking for an update and then continued reading the thread. That's pretty amazing! Will I be trampled if I say I'm happy I'll be able to ride tomorrow? (And that it wasn't serious, and no one was hurt and stitch is ok....)

As long as you don't come back on tomorrow complaining how Reedy Creek Fire department (they are Disney CMs) allowed the ride to open when it still smelled like burning plastic (this has been reported by guests and CMs in the park) just so you could use your FPs without any complaints to Guest Services, and, it gave you a headache. Then, others would say if you had gone on Stitch instead of Mine Train, you would still have ended up with a headache!:)

Reporting on The Dis Facebook page that people are back in line. So not the "tragedy" on par with 9/11 as people were saying here. Leave the jumping to conclusions and overreacting to the professional in the news industry.

*EDIT* Deleted what I said. I should have read more closely to what you were saying about jumping to conclusions... My Bad. LOL

This:yay:

Guys lets not jump on Reddy Creek and how they may or may not be Disney CMs. The first responders would never put a guests safety in jeopardy no matter how much Disney may try to strong arm them. They do have rules not formed by Disney that have to be followed.
