I hope it's true that the damage is only cosmetic, and was limited to just some landscaping.

But, wouldn't it be prudent to close the ride for the night and do a good inspection in the daylight to make sure the tracks and structure were not affected in any way?

So sad... I have FPP for next week... Been waiting FOREVER... Went in the spring hoping it would soft open but it didn't ... Now it looks like it won't be open for our trip... *sniffle...tear*. Glad everyone got out ok though.

I have about 5 different apps with wait times and most are reporting 45 minute wait times for the ride.

Is one of those apps Disney's? Because theirs is saying it's closed.

Maybe someone can confirm for us tomorrow who is visiting MK! I would also think there would have to be safety checks that need to pass prior to it going back online. Maybe the queue line is just lit up with a standard 90mins showing but it's really closed? Just a guess as to what the eyewitness may be seeing.

How about lets not be picking at each others words and just give some kind thoughts to those at the Magic Kingdom tonight who have had a bad scare.
My daughter and her husband are there on their honeymoon and could have easily been on this ride, but thankfully they were not.

I would be shocked if it's back up and running. There will have to be numerous safety checks done on the system before it can run again, even if the fire was cosmetic.

I agree. If Disney is anything they're cautious and no matter how small the fire I can't imagine them not inspecting it before letting anyone back in. Not to mention it's probably a mess after the firefighters hosed it down.

Actually a hard ticket fire viewing experience went on sale upon first sign of smoke and sold out within minutes. For $250 you got access to a reserved viewing area directly in front of the ride, a cupcake, and a collectible pin.

I was wondering if it was a hard ticket event or if I could get a FP for it.


In all seriousness, I am truly thankful that everybody got out okay and the only damage is to the ride and not human lives.

I am so thankful everyone was evacuated safely and no one was injured.
I find it doubtful that it was reopened tonight & probably not tomorrow either but knowing Disney they will have this ride up & running as soon as it's deemed safe!
Hopefully before our trip in 2 weeks

No, actually it's not at all the same. It was reported that everyone was safely evacuated from the ride, so we are discussing structures not people. Structures don't have feelings. They aren't the same as people.
It's like I'm saying that instead of an empty Empire State Building burning down, I wish the empty abandoned strip mall on the other end of town had. If you can't comprehend that logic there is no point in continuing this discussion.
(and just to be clear, I do not want either the Empire State Building nor a strip mall to burn down. That was an analogy to make a point)

THIS. Reading through this thread makes me laugh and ashamed all at the same time. There are SOOOO many other things to worry about rather than somebody maybe, possibly, coming across insensitive. I always wonder how perfect everyone else's lives must be to be able to criticize and judge others' comments...

As of 12:03 am the Disney App is showing temporarily closed. Tea Cups 5 minute, and Pooh with 5 minute.

I can not see them opening up the ride tonight.

Doesn't sound too terribly serious after all.

Reedy Creek fire officials told WKMG the fire may have started when fallout fireworks landed on top of the attraction and ignited decorative materials on the outside of the structure.
