Seriously Big Park Hours Update 8/29-11/2 - Daily AM EMHs added for DHS, DAK, & MK

I am actually surprised it was not changed to a 10 every single day at HS!

It's just because when a new land/ride opens, they don't include the new ride/rides in their estimates at first. Also, their crowd levels are based on ride wait times, not actually crowds. SWGE will definitely be a "10" whether based on wait times or actual crowds for a good long time. The rest of HS may be somewhat tolerable occassionally. LOL.

This indicates that they are expecting enormous crowds to the
point that they expect park attendance to overflow to the other parks. It’s going to be a flipping madhouse at WDW for awhile. I am thinking that if those hours extend into our trip days, we will be looking at early mornings with long midday breaks and late nights in order to minimize the crowd impact.

As an aside, I wonder if RotR will open Nov 3rd.....

This is basically what we are planning for our October trip. We will try to hit HS for the 6am opening at least once. Probably schedule our three FP to start around 9:30 or 10. Then after riding those we will head back to the resort for lunch, pool, and nap. We will try to schedule a couple FP that same day for early evening before or after dinner, if anything is available. Probably try this strategy for all three parks that have EMH. Glad we are staying at BWV. Also glad we are DVC members and do not feel the need to go commando. If we miss something, we will be back. DH refuses to wait on things much more than an hour. So we may not be able to ride SWGE this trip. We are planning a trip with extended family in 2021. Hopefully it will have FP by then.

I agree that this is an incentive based on soooo many rooms still available. A quick look today and still every resort and almost every room category still available thru september and a good part of October ...we'll see what it looks like in another week or 3 but I bet another Mickey bar that fall discounts will be out within a month or so.
Why else would Disney have released resort discounts for resorts they've never included before like BLT and VGF, and offer free dining there too? Even the CM I talked to on the phone when I needed help with the change in reservation to the discount was super surprised that they were offering 15% off at BLT cash reservations. I feel like they are desperate to get people to stay on property this early fall.

Ok, mid-October visit here. I’m wondering now if the best plan is parks early, back to resort for lunch and nap/pool, head to park of choice for evening. For fast passes...I had originally planned to schedule them for the 9-noon hours at our first park, so that we could be flexible about which park we headed to later in the day. But now I’m wondering if we’re better to do morning EMH, ride some things after park opening while crowds aren’t too crazy - and schedule the fast passes for early evening at whatever park we’re headed to, which would require me to make solid hopping plans before FP window opens, but may make the best use of them? With so many parks having early morning hours, I expect the crowds to be more spread out than when it was just one EMH choice. Meaning they might be more valuable later in the day? Thoughts, please?

Will it just be the Falcon open during EMH or will the shops and cantina be open too? Just looking for guesses since they haven’t said anything.

Also does anyone feel like this is a Disney "apology" to people who like myself wanted to book one more low crowd pre SWGE trip? Like, sorry we kinda ruined your plans, but at least we'll give you a few more hours.
I have decided to believe I have been pixie dusted after my low park crowd dreams were dashed, but my better judgement says they probably aren't filling those resort rooms as fast as they had hoped. That's what the buzz is anyway....

Bravo Disney!

I'm really happy about all of the extra hours! For too long Disney has really cut back on those, so this is a nice surprise. I don't know if it's being use as an incentive to get people to book onsite or not. I think they are planning for crowds-big, big crowds. And that is exactly what they should be doing-planning ahead.

I'm part of that 1st week in September group that was shocked by the SWGE announcement, but decided to embrace it. I had plans in place and this is causing me to re-think those. I had thoughts that we would need to spend almost 2 whole days at DHS, causing us to lose time in other parks and pool time. These extra hours really do help with that.

Getting the family out of bed and listening to the grumbling...that's another issue, lol.

Over the last 18 years of trips I've been called the Disney Drill Sergent by my family. I sent this to my DS when I texted him about the 6AM opening times-

I’m kind of excited, this will make my 4 parks one day so much easier to complete.

My plan is start at HS at 6am and stay till like 9:30, then go to AK until about 12 and then Epcot for an hour, then back to POP for a couple hours and then finish off at MK for MNSSHP.
If you swap AK and Epcot you might be able to make rope drop at 2 parks!

I surely hope so, but I am worried that for those with park hoppers Epcot will be THE park to hop to for Food and Wine festival once the other parks get crowded. At least Epcot is big enough for everyone to spread out-

Yes, I thought about this as well. I am hoping if we get a head start before the other parks empty out, we may be able to cover a lot of ground before it gets too wild.

For whatever reason they did it, an extra three hours a day will give a lot more people an opportunity to participate and it’s an extra three hours to spread the crowds out even just a little bit.

I hope Starbucks or something with breakfast is open extra early in Hollywood Studios :)

I was so hoping this announcement meant that I’d see the rest of the summer months updated. Seriously, updated hours October and November but not July and August?
No update for June either.
