September 22, 2012 Fantasy Eastern "From Fantasyland to the Fantasy"

Not only is it Friday for me too! But we get to leave at 1 today!! Hope everyone enjoys their holiday!

I like the proposed logo. Like I said, art isn't my skill, Wordiness, yes.

Getting ready for Easter/ Pascha, lots of cooking to do after practically no meat for the last 48 days (ok- it should have been no meat at all but we cheat sometimes).

Everyone who celebrates either Easter or Passover (belated, I know) have a good holiday, or any other one I missed.

We planned to get up at 5:45 AM but I woke up at 6:30AM this morning. Janet check the alarm clock and had set it for 5:45PM. Not a great start to our day. On the positive side we both got alittle extra sleep. Got to get ready for work. Will check back later. Lois

Hi, my name is Liz and we are thinking of changing from a 4 night cruise in April to the 7 night sept 22 2012. This will be our first cruise ever and I know this maybe a stupid question but it is hurricane season and I was wondering should I have concerns about the weather this time of year?

I've cruise previously in September (a 7-day Western and the WBTA last year). The captain is very good at avoiding the weather as much as possible. You may get the occassional rain at your port but they alter the sailing if needed to avoid any real dangerous weather. I've always said that I'd prefer to be on the ship than on land when a hurricane heads our way. The captain can move the ship - even magical Mickey can't move WDW.

Hi Liz!
It's a great question. We have cruised now three times in September and October. It's absolutely our favorite time to cruise, we have had amazing weather on those cruises! While we have not yet been impacted by any tropical weather on any of our cruises it is certainly possible that time of year. The most likely impact on a cruise by a tropical system would result in a change of itinerary or ports. The captain will absolutely not put the ship anywhere near a storm, so you would not have to worry about riding out a storm at sea. The worst kind of havoc a tropical system could cause (aside from unexpected itinerary changes) would be problems at embarkation or debarkation if a storm is headed for Port Canaveral. I remember a year or two ago a tropical storm was threatening to make landfall on the East Coast near PC and those folks scheduled to embark the ship that day were actually bused down to Ft. Lauderdale. (And of course those that disembarked were bused back to the PC/WDW area) It was quite chaotic but that was the biggest upheaval of a cruise due to a tropical system I have read about since I have been on these boards (4+ years). I have read about plenty of unexpected itinerary changes (Westerns becoming Easterns and missed ports)..but not once a canceled cruise.:thumbsup2

I would certainly recommend travel insurance, especially if you are flying in prior to the cruise, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it too much! :goodvibes We sure don't! :rotfl2:

We would love to have you join us! Happy planning!!:)

I have personal experience with this. In September 2003, we took our first ever Disney Cruise.... During the time that Hurricane Isabel was heading straight towards Port Canaveral:scared1: Basically, they just changed up our itinerary a bit... we went to Castaway Cay first, then Nassau, then the day at sea. The weather was beautiful, and everything was great! I'm not worrying about this one at all. It's one of the cheapest times of the year to sail, and we love cruising in September :)

All of our cruises have been in the fall and I love this time of year to cruise. I too recommend that you get the vacation insurance just in case but we have been on 9 cruises and have not had any issues YET. I hope you can join us this is a great group and should prove to be an awesome cruise.

Hi Liz! I second what everyone else said. We love cruising in the fall and have never had an issue with storms. The captain will just sail around the storm. Actually, the only reason I am nervous about cruising during hurricane season is because we actually live on the Gulf coast here in Florida. I would be a nervous wreck if a hurricane was going to make landfall near our city and I was on a cruise...we wouldn't be able to be home to make sure that everything was okay!

Hope you can join us!!

Take a look at the Meyer-Werft website! It looks like the funnel on the Fantasy is up!!! Yay! :cool1:

We usually cruise in September. Never had an issue with weather. In fact, when people ask me why we homeschool, I say it's so we can cruise DCL and go to Disney in off season, and I'm only kidding a little bit.

I wouldn't hesitate to book, especially if you can save money. AND, I've cruised with some of this lot before, and they're a great group of people.:grouphug:

That's funny. Just this weekend I was mentioning to Jen that if we homeschooled it would be a lot less stressful than taking the kids out of school for the week esp. since Brendan will now be in middle school and having to explain to each teacher stresses me out just thinking about it.

I'm pretty sure we won't be homeschooling any time soon. But, I totally understand that being a big reason to do it.:)

I love your last line "even magical Mickey can't move WDW" how true, we spent a week at WDW in Sept. of 1998 and had 18 inches of rain in six days.
I'm sure that the captain will find the sun for us.
