September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

5 degrees, really??? Yikes! I guess it is pretty warm here then at 19 degrees!


Sheila -- I know what you mean. My trip is by-monthly as well. I don't think the Sept hours will be out yet when I can make my ADR's because my trip starts in August. It would be helpful if I had gone this time of year before and knew what to expect as far as park hours and show times and so on. But I am clueless when it comes to Aug/Sept.

Shelly - easywdw still had Sept and Oct 2010 calendars on their site last time I looked, it is a bit of a help - You will not believe what I or I should say we did

Well I really sorta hate to mention it but................We changed resorts

Good luck convincing your hubby to add more days! I was one of those extremely lucky ones that got the 40% PIN. That is why we were able to add 2 more days onto our trip at AKL. I was freaking out when I got it!!!

We talk and talked and decided to change resorts and add a day or two, then we talked and talked about maybe we should think about getting a new car and how we did not want to go away and leave DH mother for so long, or board the dog too long so in the end.................

Whew Holy Moly You guys can talk

Ok so where was I ? Oh yes, changeing resorts, we decided since so many of the places we plan to eat at are over at Epcot, and how we would more than likely decide to eat there at night , would only make sense to stay closer to Epcot so.........................we pinned it down to BW or Beach Club. I told DH for him to choose since I am always the one that picks where we stay and he chose..............The Beach Club.

For now our dates are the same we were going to add a day at the end (rack rate) since the discount ends on 10/1 but the first time I called I had the good fortune of getting a very confused CM who could not understand why I was wanting to change my reservation since I already had a discount I finally hung up and called back and had no problems but decided to keep my original dates unless I can get a discount for later in Oct.

So DH is happy our trip now is $663 less and as he said that was alot of $ for watching fireworks from the room.

Yes I think it is a better fit, since even taking the monoral from CR we have to change at TTC then walk thru FW to get to WS for our dinner ADR's.

No I hate calling ......................I blame the DIS I use to book and forget all about it until a few months before, once I discovered the DIS I keep second guessing myself or maybe it is just a condition of old age

Just found this thread! Add me to the list, we're going Sept 24-Oct.1 My boyfriend's birthday is the day before we leave!! We just bought a house, and he told me if I could have the trip paid off before we moved, we could go! Thanks to a Christmas bonus it was possible! I'm excited to stay a Riverside! This is the latest in the year we've ever been to Disney, sorta nervous about what park hours will be and if we should get hoppers. I'd like to get them but its hard to justify if we only use them once or twice, ya know? Maybe as a birthday present to him we could do the Halloween Party!?! We will see!

My kids LOVE pin trading too!

They wanted pin boards to display their pins after we got back in November. So off to the craft store we went!

What a great Idea! DD6 still has them on her lanyard from when we went in 07, but that is a much cooler way to display them!

Good Morning Everyone

I agreee with Shelly about we all have an idea of the wheres we want to eat , now it is just the whens. I checked last years calendars on easywdw.com which is free to try and figure out what days might be MNSSHP, I know F&W starts 9/30 and they usually do a preview the night before it officially opens so I have those days penciled in tentatively, same thing with fantasmic guessing what days it will run and I want to book the haunted carriage ride at Ft Wilderness but I worried I will only have one night to snag that if it runs like last year, starting on Oct 1

Not sure I like this 5 days in September and 1 day in October, as I plan more I will see, but I pretty much figure Oct hours won't be out when I have to make my ADR's

Still have my fingers crossed for that coveted 40% off pin, I so want to add one more day before the flight rates come out-anyone else waiting for Jet Blue to post the fares for after Sept 6th?

I thought I read somewhere that Wishes is also limited during this time? Last time (2007) we were there the same time of year, but we didn't do any fireworks/shows. We are early risers and DD was turning 3 that trip so we mainly took advantage of the Morning Magic Hours. The parks were almost empty when we did that! We didn't even do MNSSHP! This time around DD is 6 and DS will be turning 3, and I think I'd like to do all of it since we have more time than last time. I don't like not knowing the days!
Sheila, I didn't even think about the fact that October's hours will take an extra month! Eek! How do the ADR's work? Do we have to call back each day for that day of the vacation 180 days out? (I am even confusing myself…)

I am just going to guess about the MNSSHP days based on last years days as for F&W Epcots WS is usually something like 11 till 9pm with Illunations at 9 so I will try to get ADR times to fit in with Illuminations and the eat to the beat concerts which last year I believe were at 5:15, 6:30 and 7:30?

I also got a little planning booklet in the mail yesterday! At the very back there is a page on planning tools, with a little blurb about a Disney desktop tool that has a countdown, event schedules, etc. it can be downloaded from www.disneyvacationplanner.com .
It looks like it is still in beta, but it is very cute. I haven't been through it to see all of its features, but so far it looks neat!

Thanks!!! My first thought was to make a paper chain, but that would have been a LOT of strips of paper!!! Ha!!!
