In Australia weight is usually in Kg - although most adults can also talk stones. 1 stone is about 7 kg - but i agree with Grandmaz - it doesn't matter which method they use it is never the number i would like to hear. :scared:

funnily enough i height is often refered to in feet and inches - although once again i doubt if kids would even know what a foot is.

How great is that - having your birthday party on the other side of the world.

I know! My DD turned 7 in WDW in 2008, we went to Chef Mickey's for Breakfast, Crystal Palace for lunch and couldn't fit dinner in, too much food! She had a ball at Magic Kingdom, we all followed her the whole day, we rode the tea cups soooooo many times!

Thanks....they are colorful, I will say that.

Regarding, Groundhog Day, Ha Ha!

I'm sure you will walk and sweat off a stone when you get to WDW. (Am I correct in saying stone? I'm thinking that was the term I learned on "You are What You Eat" on BBC America television.) :confused3 However, in Australia, you may not use that term either. ????

We have Kg's. Our weather is very similar to Florida, if not hotter so I'm used to it. Unfortunately it doesn't help me lose weight here, but all that walking around the parks, chasing my DD's might help. :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone ......

ONLY 16 WEEKS ( 112 DAYS ) UNTIL THE MAGIC BEGINS AND WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Its getting closer :woohoo::woohoo:

I'm living in Gemert that's a place near Eindhoven for football lovers PSV Eindhoven. It's about one and half our from Amsterdam my favorite place in my country and my favorit footballteam AJAX. Gemert is a small town but nice.

Amsterdam is a great place for Eric and Jason to visit some time, they have ones a year the gayparade that's lot off fun.

I've seen both PSV Eindhoven and Ajax play (big Tottenham fan here) so I recognise the place names :thumbsup2

It is! I LOVE lists! :lmao:

yay! a fellow list lover ...I've just made a spreadsheet fort eh cruise with all the info so far :cool1:

Let's do it then!

It's list time again! :goodvibes

HEY ALL

It just so happens i just purchased myself a Smart Car just 2 weeks ago! I LOVE it. It's so super easy to drive and so much fun. iIve loved them since i first saw them as they're like nothing else on the road.

My friends all think it's hillarious that i choose to buy a smart car.

As i'm 6'3 tall.

But i can honestly say it's the only car i've ever really wanted.

I still need to name it tho?? I obviously wanted to give a Disney name but it's cream in colour and there's not too many cream Disney characters.

any suggestions PLEASE!!!!

SW

I shall keep my eyes open for your little cream car!:thumbsup2 (Bet it's great for parking in Reading)

Well fellow TA cruisers....hopefully my DW and I will be on a jet right now in 16 weeks....and hopefully we will sleep for most of the flight....8 plus hours does not thrill me....
See ya all soon!
Tom & Marilou

so exciting!!!!:cool1:

Hello everyone! Is there room for 4 more in this group? Traveling will be my DH, myself, my sister and her husband. (DH and myself will be doing the last Med cruise as well.) We've been on 12 Disney cruises, and did the WBTA in 2007 so we know what a great time this cruise will be. DH and myself are retired and live in FL so we get a lot of company and we travel when we can. DS and DBIL are working folks who live in MD. Our traveling and company visits will be wrapping up soon so we'll have some time to dedicate to getting ready to join you in Barcelona. This is going to be so much fun!

Welcome! I'm Mandy and my dh is Mark, and this will be our 7th cruise, 5th with DCL....can't wait!

I will not be surprised if they do not have any. I will be disappointed and Dh, DBil and Dsis will no doubt go through some sort of withdrawls. However, with all the booze tasting we have signed up for, I feel comfortable in saying they are likely to forget about the Mickey Bars and possibly their own names.:rotfl2:

so funny!:rotfl2:

If there's a 'mate', 'good onya' or 'g'day', It's Aussie.

though it depends how you say 'mate' as it's a London/Essex term too!:thumbsup2

Maybe it's a sign that I really should try to loose some weight before our cruise instead of dreaming about it! :rotfl:

Know the feeling!:rolleyes1

My grandfather is buried in a town / village called Driesum. Is that anywhere near where you are?

Welcome aboard, we are Sarah and Tony from Wales and this is our second Disney Cruise :goodvibes

No Mickey Bars? - That's it. We're not going! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Melisa
mm4mm's wife

Am I the only person in the world who has never had a Mickey Bar. I suppose the good thing is that I won't miss what I have never had. :confused3

If there's a 'mate', 'good onya' or 'g'day', It's Aussie.

Those beignets are evil! We stayed at POFQ for 25 days in 2008, I ate beignets everyday, sometimes twice a day. On the last day I went to put my jeans on that I had worn on the plane on the way over to America, I couldn't even get them on, let alone done up! :scared1:

We are staying at POFQ so might just have to try this speciality as it seems to have so many recommendations ... it will be the last day of my vacation ... and I certainly won't be watching what I am eating :rolleyes1

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Dh is from New Orleans.... he sucked me into those evil things long ago.
At a meeting a few days ago, one of the ladies said "If it tastes good...spit it out!":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ann:yay:

This is so funny ..... it's so unfair that all the good tasting stuff is so bad for the waistline ... or as we say here " a second on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!" I think there will be a lot of spitting out going on if we follow this guideline on the cruise .... ok, maybe not :rotfl::rotfl:

We loved POFQ, It was hard to not stay there again, but we like trying different places. Def have the beignets, they are so worth the 'lifetime on the hips!'.

I think thats where the Pirate bars came from. My sister had been to DLP and thought that they were the same!

Oh, Those poor people in DLP don't get the real thing! I suppose they don't know what they are missing.
If you want to be safe, don't have one Sarah, they are highly addictive!

Also, listen to were the "eh" is put. If it is at the beginning of the sentence then most likely an American. If it is on the end must be a Canadian, eh.:lmao:

Jon

Although....just to confuse that "rule"----my parents are from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and everyone up there adds the "eh" to the end, as well ("Say ya to da U.P, eh?" :lmao:)-----granted, the U.P. is ALMOST Canada, but technically it's still USA :rotfl2:

Anyone get any credits from DCL on their credit card recently? We just got our statement today and got a credit we weren't expecting. I know folks on other sailings have posted about getting credits of $10 dollars or so, but this was over $200.

Very unexpected!

No, we haven't and we've been watching our card like a hawk. We rebooked both our Med and our WBTA and got lower rates so we're expecting a really BIG refund from DCL to arrive and it hasn't yet. We did that the first week of May and they said it should appear in up to 4 weeks so we're hoping it will be here any day now!!! :thumbsup2

Welcome to the thread and cruise!! Ifyou would like lanyards for yourselves and your traveling party, send me a PM or email me at wbtalanyards@yahoo.com

Actually that photo makes them look a bit solid, which they aren't. They are as light as air and collapse in, covering you in icing sugar.:lmao:

What about Duchess or Marie from The AristoCats. I know they are realy white, but can't think of anything else at the moment.

Oh, I think Duchess is brilliant for a car!!! The Duchess!!!!

There are about 25 pages to read... Im only partially caught up, but trying!! I think I am caught up on shirts and FE's - you should have gotten email or PM from me if you sent something to me before about 3pm EST yesterday. If I didn't reply, plese send again!!

Ok, on to the catching up...

There are families with children on late dining. If you want to link then send me a pm and I will add you to the list. There are also families who are happy to sit with children as you have seen.
:scared1:

I think its still worth linking! I'm sure there are a few with kids on the late seating aren't there?

There are kiddos at late seating!! I am *considering* letting mine come to dinner... :rotfl2:

I am finally getting around to make my dinner reservations for our post cruise stay. So far I have gotten everything I wanted within 15 minutes of the time I want. So far I have booked breakfast and dinner at The Wave, breakfast at Ohana and dinner at Narcoossee's. I am also hoping for breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at Artist Point, Jiko and California Grill. I better get on with this.

Sounds like a great selection!!

Feeling sorry for myself today as I am full of hayfever. Eyes are watering like mad, and my head feels full of cotton wool (mind you that's nothing new! ;)).....the down side of summer I suppose :confused3

I am allergice to Pine Trees and Goldenrod, and 2X a year I suffer through. I hope that you start feeling better soon!!

Thanks to everyone's nice words and thoughts and encouragements.....it's always a little intimidating to "put yourself out there" to strangers in the virtual world....it's nice to see that once again we'll be cruising with such a great and friendly group of people!!

There are a couple new ties...plus a bunch of ties you haven't seen yet because we wore them on cruises other than the Double Dip we did with you.....and there are several new formal sets, as well.

Erik, I think that you summed it up - cruising with a great and friendly group of people!! I wish that some people would STOP looking for differences, and START celebrating similarities - likes, dislikes, whatever. Life is too short to look for reasons to be unhappy...

As for the ties, we will have to find you in the dining rooms and check out our collection. I am looking for fabric to make a coupole of ties for my boys...

Just wanted to pop in and say 'HI!'.

I've been keeping up with the thread (just barely!) after an incredibly busy two weeks at work. The kids ran out of t-shirts, socks, underwear and shorts this morning - that's how busy it has been!

We'd love to link up for dinner - but as 6 already would we have room? I know my mom would love to sit with other folks her age, and our kids would love to have kids their age sit with us. We are friendly but not too chatty, tolerant of just about everything and celebrate diversity, don't mind being working through language differences, and even have a Dutch background (DH and the kids). :-)
...
We even started using our stash of DCL shampoo and conditioner to get all senses into the mood!

Celebrate Diversity - that is PERFECT!! I wish that everyone would do this.

My kids both attended our church daycare program, and were surrounded by a wide variety or people, orientation, color and beliefs. With Stephen I realized that kids were taught to be 'ugly' in their opinions. I was awesome to see the kids just EVERYONE, and just being happy. I often asked "at what age do kids start seeing differences in people" and our pastor said that it was when the parents realized that their kids didn't think like them. Sad, but true... Becca who suffers with severe at time exzema, and tends to speak her mind a bit, shocks me becasue she feels that people think she is different because of the exzema bumbs. The first realization I have of her seeing differences (versus people seeing her as different) was when she cried that God didn't give her dark tan skin like her friend in daycare. She felt that she was slighted...

We were given a gift of about 1 dozen shampoo/conditioner sets as well as body butter on our last cruise. I have rationed them so that after a really bad day I can splurge and get into cruise mode... LOL, doesn't take much does it?

Hi Everyone,
You know I was just sitting here thinking about how lucky I feel at the moment. I have this great cruise to look forward to, with all kinds of interesting and great people from all around the world, I think I may have talked my mum into joining us and my husband is watering the lawn / kids out the back and their laughter is echoing all around. So much to be grateful for. :grouphug:

Sounds wonderful!

The Mini Navigator I'm making I'm hoping some nice person (Penny - PJPoohbear) is going to make it into a pdf so if you get the pdf viewer on the iphone/pad you will be able to use that and its got a day by day thingy included with all the group events and what nights what!

This would be great!

Back from the doctors, I won't know anything till late next week - UGH!

The waves in the Med are amazing. I don't know why, but I always think that a sea has no waves. It is a mental thing. I live in Florida and they have REALLY been talking about the bad hurricane season ahead. I know the captain will keep us safe. Hurricane season starts on Tuesday! I have to stock up on my water and canned food (yuck!) I got my generator and we are ready to go for that!

So sorry that you will have to go all weekend without results. Hang in there.

I don't think of the Meda s having waves either - probably because I don't think of surfing there.. LOL!

We lived in Clearwater for a year and hated getting all of the hurricane supplies. My mom was in Venice for about 17 years and whe had a whole closet devoted to all of here gear... And I hear that this could be a bad year for storms... Fingers crossed that it isn't...

Throwing another idea out to the group....

Is there any interest in accumulating info about flights going into BCN? I was considering a list referencing your departure date and city, airline, and arrival time. That might be TMI for some to share, which is perfectly fine. I just thought it would help facilitate early DIS meets on the planes or at baggage claim as well as ground transportation coordination.

Thoughts????

Is this an offer to track? LOL! I know that we are on the same flight and a couple of DIS family members... Alex is on the other side of the plane, where it is safe :rotfl2: but Walt and Di have elected to sit right behind us... :rotfl2: I guess we will keep eachother in line and behaving...:rotfl2:

OK - on to read the next few pages... At this rate, I *might* get caught up today....

Actually that photo makes them look a bit solid, which they aren't. They are as light as air and collapse in, covering you in icing sugar.:lmao:

Is it like a funnel cake batter only a different shape ? I am not a big fan of funnel cake so if it's like that I will avoid it :confused3

Sort of like a very light airy deep fried sweet pastry/doughnut thing!!! Someone else could describe them better I know. Full of air so they can't be fattening!!!! Coated heavily in icing sugar.

http://www.sciencecompanion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/beignets.jpg

POFQ food court sell them and they are yummy!!!!!

hmmmm, not sure, may ahve to try them and see.....:goodvibes
