Well, this vacation has just become a day longer! Flights back to Mexico were less expensive on the 8th of October so I called and booked another night at Boardwalk Villas. They didn't have a one-bedroom available so we're downgrading to a studio for the last night, but all laundry should be done by then, right?!

Now to find somewhere else to dine on the 7th!

On the Mexico front.....we just contracted with the mover and customs broker and they're meeting us here in L.A. and we're moving south on July 3. Garage sales and packing up will start with a vengeance this coming week!!

After a bit of work today Marc and I are heading down to D'land for the last weekend of the Food and Wine Festival. Tonight is their version of Party of the Senses (called "Taste" out here). We've enjoyed it so much the past few years and we're looking forward to catching up with some of our favorite CMs who work the festival. A short nap in the evening (it definitely won't be a full night's sleep!) and we'll head back home early Sunday morning. We're usually up by 4:00a.m. and can be home by 5.

Another whirlwind weekend coming up!

Good weekend to every one!

Michael

Oh Im glad you sorted it! July will be here before we know it!

Good Afternoon everybody - to not think about my past week, I am working on my FE gifts today.

Welcome Castmeaway! You are never too late.

I am probably the only one that does not like Mickey bars, I will be the one at the ice cream bar, Deck 9, hogging the caramel sauce.

Michael - good luck with getting ready for the move and enjoy your weekend. It sounds like a blast!

The wave video is a bit scary. I usually don't get seasick or want to stay in my cabin, but I might have to put the covers over my head. It looks worse than the EBTA '07! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Okay , I have to point this out cause you will hear alot when in Gibraltar....They are not monkeys , they are apes ....No tails .... Tails = Monkeys - No tails = apes ... lol Just thought I would point that out
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

pirate:

:worship::worship: So noted Captain. Please forgive me! I shall endeaver to not repeat that mistake again! :worship::worship:

We did alot of on our own tours.....Laura talked to the drivers in Spanish alot....Maybe it was just my nervousness that made me not understand them!!! :rotfl:

Or it could have been my gutteral Spanish. LOL - By the way, we going to the beach again Pam? :rotfl: If we do, may I suggest we NOT take the men with us? :rotfl2:

I don't particularly care if I see the Barbary apes but do want to see the caves.

The caves were hot and sweltering take plenty of liquids.

Well I started to put apes but since Laura put monkeys, I didnt want to confuse anyone....I do remember that little lesson tho...NO TAIL = APE!!!

:rotfl::rotfl:

 My bad :upsidedow
Oh yes , That be Jack :rotfl2::rotfl2:

pirate:

I no like dead monkeys. They gross. (not to mention nasty) :rolleyes1

I've been watching the availability every day. Well, I've been watching the pricing every day, just to see if the rates drop at all. Cat 12s are no longer listed. Not sure if that means they are full, or if DCL is repricing them to offer a sale? For the 2007 WBTA, the Cat 12s went on sale right before the 90 day mark. I switched from an 11 to a 12, saved $2k, then got upgraded up to a 9! So I'm keeping a close eye on it to see what kind of pixie dust shows up this time.

I soooo wanted to do that but DH (who ended up not going) told me not too. I should have listened to myself. Could have saved $$$$$

Not sure where I'm flying from. I originally booked air through DCL out of Oakland. I checked all 3 airports and Oakland was cheaper by a few dollars and is actually the easiest for me. I have since dropped the air because of the uncertainty about my trip. Once I decide who is going, then I'll price out air options and my even add DCL air back on.

At least your still planning on going though!

Hello all....what time do we actually sail from Barcelona. The itinerary says onboard 4:00....but I am curious what time we actually sail away. I wonder if it is late will they have the fireworks like they had when the Magic returned.
Tom

Hey Tom - word on the street is we depart at 10:00 but we have to be on by 4:00 for lifeboat drill and there are no fireworks!

I just checked the Navigator for the Med cruise and the sail away party was at 10:00 PM. We were still at dinner at that time and the dining room was pretty full still when we left.

Corinna

Um, :rolleyes1

I have it on a very good source (who shall remain nameless) :rolleyes1 that they "accidentally missed" the drill and didn't even get "back" on the ship until like 7:30 (just in time for dinner) and the ship didn't sail away. Course, that was when it left the following day so I wouldn't suggest doing that but the consequences of missing the drill? Zilch. Not even a make-up one. (I) Um....the person ( ) kept excepting someone from high up to come and do a make-up but nothing happened.

Last time we were there you couldn't make reservations for T-Rex - has that changed?

:)michelle

I took my son to T-Rex in January for lunch after a cruise to celebrate his birthday. I was able to make a reservation via the DCL reservation system. But I also heard that they put less than 1/2 of the available reservations out on the DCL site, so if you have any problems getting one, you can always contact the restaurant directly to make a reservation.

Is it like a funnel cake batter only a different shape ? I am not a big fan of funnel cake so if it's like that I will avoid it :confused3

Nothing like a funnel cake, eewwww!

Check this one out ..... especially about half way through when the wave comes right up to the bridge.

WOW, That looks pretty scary! I suppose everyone survived, we'll be fine, think good thoughts! :thumbsup2

I have learned to make these. You can imagine how our jeans are fitting!! :rotfl2:

I was going to say Groundhog Day, but by the time I wake up it's been done, so I won't. :rolleyes1:lmao:

Angie, Can i be your best friend? Beignets are the best, I must warn you I'd be a very large best friend very quickly, I'd have to switch from jeans to Circus tents also! :lmao:

Groundhog Day, Great minds think alike! :thumbsup2

A day longer vacation is always a good thing.:cool1:
I hope you Garage sale is a roaring success and the packing is painless.
Have a wonderful time at DL! :thumbsup2

In 24 hours from now, I'll be in NYC!!!! The Glee concert is at 3pm at Radio City Music Hall. I can't wait!!! My sister and I are taking the 8AM bus up to NYC (we're only like 2 hours away from the city) so we'll have some time to walk around before the concert. At first we were going to go to the 8pm concert which would have allowed us to see a broadway show in the afternoon, but that didn't work out. I'm excited to go to some of my favorite broadway stores! I love broadway merchandise!

If you're friends with me on FB, I'm goign to try to post some pictures during the day...we'll see if that happens! LOL!!!!

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Have a fantastic time, we want a full trip report when you get back! :goodvibes

The old friend of a friend, huh? We won't be missing the drill, first time cruisers, need to know what to do, I can swim, but not across the atlantic, I suppose I could have a few more beignets if I did though! :lmao:

I "know" someone who received a letter in her fish explaining the emergency procedures because she wasn't on board for the life boat drill.

Thank you for all the new additions to the Inbound Barcelona Flight List. I already see potential hook-ups in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Heathrow! Keep them coming!

It's been a BEAUTIFUL day here in Ohio, although pretty hot. I'm happy it's such a nice weekend since my dear friend Peter is getting married tomorrow. I just put on the new black and white dress I bought for the wedding and a seating at AP so I could pick out jewelry for it (I see those eyes rolling, men!). It felt good to think about packing that up for the cruise!

Gold Castaway Club members are undoubtedly anxious for this coming Wednesday! I'm still Silver, so my wait lives on. I picked up another video on the Eastern Caribbean and "Fodor's See It Barcelona" book at the library for my research. I really wish I could find a video on Madeira.

I hope you and Beth tear the town up! Have a great time!

That happened to you, too, Michael?!! It was a great feeling to have the vacation part a day longer when it happened to me! Such the rough life to now find a place to eat. Poor thing! :rotfl:

....I was going to say Groundhog Day, but by the time I wake up it's been done, so I won't. :rolleyes1:lmao:

Well wait to see what happens same time tomorrow. Maybe you can still say it!

Good Afternoon everybody - to not think about my past week, I am working on my FE gifts today.....I am probably the only one that does not like Mickey bars, I will be the one at the ice cream bar, Deck 9, hogging the caramel sauce......

Uh oh. I smell a sugary-buttered fight on the Atlantic horizon. Caramel is my FAVORITE candy hands down, and caramel sauce doesn't come far behind the candy. It could be a really fun fight though! :rotfl2:

Glad that you're keeping busy, Sandi! I found the primary supply item to make my newly founded idea for FE gifts online at a great price, so I made that purchase today! I can't wait! :goodvibes

I shall keep my eyes open for your little cream car!:thumbsup2 (Bet it's great for parking in Reading)

It parks like a dream. and it's got a mickey decal on the back so if you see me wizzing by you'll know it's me!

SW if yo got a second little smart car you could call them chip and dale...

Thanks for the car name suggestions, SEE there really aren't all that many cream coloured Disney charracters. But you guys managed to think up a handfull. THANKS

SW

A good fight you will have - enjoy the wedding!

Thanks for the warm welcome! We're also traveling with a couple from Michigan who are also doing the B2B with us (we are doing the AbD add-on on the Sep 8th Med). The 6 of us are:
Pam (me)
Gary (DH)
Chris (sister)
Dave (DBIL)
Joyce (our Michigan friend)
Gary (Joyce's DH)

I'll add us to the roster. It seemed like this cruise was a long time coming, but it won't be long now. We're actually traveling cross country in an RV so internet is spotty, but will be more active when we get home.

That is just horrible! I cannot believe there would be people like that. I figure no matter who I sit with, I can make conversation and have a good time. I am just worried that the people I sit with won't want to talk and that would be awkward for all 2 weeks. I can always get seating changed, but then I would feel weird. We have to make sure this does not happen on The Magic - everybody on these boards WILL have a good time - no GREAT time!

I agree. On one of the crossings, DH and I sat at a table of 8 but only 6 showed up. One couple completely ignored me and spoke only with DH. I felt so left out. (I am rather shy at first - BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!) and so I requested to move. Turns out that the family we ended up hooking up with turned out to be an amazing family and they ended up at my house for lunch upon disembarkation. I sorta felt bad for Steve as he enjoyed the first couple but really, I WOULD NOT have had fun. And if it comes down to it - I'm going to have fun - cruising is my thing....Dh is just along for the ride.

I so wish I could get the iPad right now , but it just doesnt replace my Macbook pro yet ....Once the iPad has a video cam (I skype alot ) and a little bit more then 64gigs then I am sold ...lol But without a doubt I am an apple guy ...with the MBP I also have the 24inch Imac and of course the 3GS iPhone ..Now I am waiting till June 7th for the announcement of the new iPhone which I am excited about the new design ...So for the cruise ill be bringing the MBP and me iPhone ...

pirate:

Alright Cpt, let me know how the phone goes, I'm still learning this version of 3GS and for what I need it for - that works well for me.

That is horrible! It is the intial first meeting that is always scary. The very first Wonder cruise we took, we sat with a family that had 3 kids and they came into Parrot Cay the first night, stayed 5 minutes and ran out. It was our first cruise so we were like, "oh well" the next night they apologized profusely saying that they were all seasick. They have been to our house and even went out for Halloween together. I agree with you though, it was good to move.

OK all...I need your help. My DW and I have never been anywhere where our American money was not accepted. I don't know anything about Euros and other money accepted in the ports we are calling on in Europe. When you guys get a chance, could you educate my DW and I about the different monies....
Also, my daughter asked if she will be able to call us. We have Verizon cell phones.....anyone have any idea if we will be able to use them to call her?

Thanks very much!

Tom & Marilou

(on the subject of dinning companions)

My friend and i spend most of our time together just laughing (A LOT) and having fun, we dread being placed on some dowdy table with people not willing to join in and laugh with us.

We spend quite a bit if our time having the most random conversations, usally while queuing in the super market or theme park. Its always pretty obvious that the people around us are listening in and quite often chuckling along with us.

We tend to find the humour in most sittuations, i guess i just feel that there's plenty of stuff in life to make you sad or blue ,so you should try to laugh as often as you can.

So here's hope for fun table mates for all!!!

SW

 SW! DD's and I usually end up talking smack in line at a store or restaruant and quite often I forget that people are listening until they crack up. I have a very dry sense of humor and forget sometimes that people can take it wrong. But if anyone remembers that little show called "The George Lopez Show"? Yeah, well that's my family. All fun and games until you hurt one of us and then we sit on you and suffocate you.

I am if it includes the basket ride down the hill ...

pirate:

SIGH.....Please try not to break anything this time Capt. Your not as much fun when your hurt.

ummmmm yes it is and were doing B2B with the Med prior , so ...she is either going to love it or hate it ....24 days on the ship , and she might just go crazy .....

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:woohoo: When you do it up right - you really do it up right! Yeah H!:yay:

Yup! Always a good thing - I have moved twice and twice the 2nd party turned out to be long term friends. So, with a little bit f pixie dust, things can go well. However, its also ok if you don't make that magical connection this time, there's always a next time. :wizard:

Tom & Marilou,

This should be sorta easy as the euro is to be the main currency. I just returned from Spain and France in April and the dollar is NOT accepted. With the euro dropping down to $1.22, I would say stock up if you can but the easiest thing we found was to take $$ out of an ATM. It was the easiest, fastest and we could gauge what we would use after the first night. Also, if you have leftover euros, DisneySweetie posted that on the '07 WBTA, she was allowed to pay off her account with euros.

Keep in mind that credit cards will add a conversion rate usually around 3-5% which can add up. I am always amazed at the heat I get for recommending ATM's but really, I haven't had any problems. For the last 2 yrs I've gone with DD to Europe on her Easter break and everytime, the tour directors give me heat but you know what? I would rather get a fair exchange rate than put it on a "card" which I have personally seen some of the kids have problems if they don't have their ID with them.

Hope it helps and I would suggest if you have access to a credit union to look into using that. I have a bank/credit union, that because of their lack of buildings, will refund me my ATM fees. If you have any other fears, just jump in and ask - everyone here has at least one tip for newbies. And I remember how scared I was the first time we went to Europe.

Here's a scary thought:

1. No room reservation yet for DH and I
2. No pick-up from Barcelona airport
3. No arrangements for getting to the dock on embarkation day
4. AND.....no airfare yet.

However, I know that I'm planning on getting in on the 16th and resting. Am I :scared1:?

Naw!

Rooms are plenty - slow season in Sept

Airport pick-up can be arranged online and we can be dropped off at our
arranged place of lodging.

As for the getting to the dock, its SOOOOO simple, just hail a taxi and tell him take me to Mickey ship! They knew exactly where to go. That is what we did on the morning of sailing - it was a party of 3 and we did end up using 2 cars but heck - it was an adventure and supereasy. Ergo, I'm not panicing yet.

Airfare? Probably going to get my fare in June. As some of you may know - we are sorta a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda gal. (makes for some pretty interesting tales I tell you) :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

Marilou - we have Verizon also, you just need to call them and get your phone to have the international plan. I don't know about your daughter's though. You definitely need to call them. If you do not have it, you will not be able to talk to your daughter. The money, I will leave that talk for someone else that is better than me! I am going nighty night!!!

WHEW! Finally caught up. That will teach me to stay off for 3 days. :rotfl:

Anyway, I hesitate to ask but is anyone doing anything like shots around the ship or Portugal, or Tortola or....well, y'all get the idea? (And NO!, I'm not volunteering.....I'll show up but since I'm not a big drinker I would not be a good person to host that) I would however, love to spend time with fellow minded DIS-sers - last time it seemed we ended up in Diversions a lot. OH! I'm getting excited.

:scratchin wonder if they'll have another episode of the Aly and AJ fiasco? Too early to ponder?

Joey Fatone?

(I'm sure it won't be Bob Saget) :lmao:

Spent the day shopping and doing FE stuff.
Counting the days.

HallsofVA let Princess Bunny know that we are getting the boys some new clothing.:woohoo:
