I would love to join my fellow Trojans! Thank you! Just PM me if you need to know anything from me for the ressie and what day and time! THANK YOU!!! I promise not to wear my cardinal and gold shoes!

Cardinal and gold are always welcome at our table!! :cheer2:
;)
The rasul is the bomb!! We have done many massages so this is of some interest to us also. I don't want to pay a fortune for a massage when I can do it at home for so much less.

Just my thoughts....

:surfweb:
The problem is getting him to take the time to GIVE a massage once we get home.

On another matter we had one of those small amount $ cheques sent to us in the post from DCL, could we add that to the room as a dollar cheque is no use in the UK.

DCL sent you $$ in the mail???

I really need to get into the habit of writing down the number of the last post I read each time I'm online. I forget and I miss so much of what's going on!! :rotfl2:

I just click on the "user CP" at the upper left of the screen then it takes me to a list of the threads I am participating in that have had a post since I last was on. I think click the little blue arrow thing at the left of the name of the thread and it takes me to the last post I read.

I am so worried about that too!!!! I know there is nothing I can do about it though. I'm hoping that the ones we want will still be available when we can book. I can only keep my fingers crossed!

In my 10 cruises I have not seen many excursions fill up. One did on the first 10 day southern but that was because a hundred or so DISers all went on the pirate ship excursion. :rolleyes1 I would book Palo tea first, Palo brunch second, Palo dinner third, then spa, and lastly excursions. Tea is the most difficult to get since there is only one seating (3pm) on sea days. Brunch is second most difficult because it too is only on sea days, but with several times available. Dinner is nightly. With all the sea days and everyone only being allowed one booking prior to boarding, it seems that everyone who wants brunch should be able to get it. Tea you might need to book as soon as you board or get on a wait list. Wait lists do work as some folks decide to cancel after getting on board. Hope this is helpful to those new to this.

Just my thoughts......:goodvibes:)

Why no higher than 11? Bathroom layout?

Yes, I cannot cope with the split bathroom. I caused a bit of a stir for our Med cruise as they had upgraded us to a category 10. In the end and after a lot of effort from my travel agent, DCL agreed to put us back into a category 12 cabin, which we loved. DH is teasing me that we have a "Do no upgrade" note against our name now. I really hope that he is right.

My daughter and I were having a conversation tonight at dinner and she wanted me to ask all of you from Great Britain - when you go to Epcot, do you eat in Great Britain or do you avoid it because that is where you live? I said you probably go and she said you probably avoid it. We are just trying to have a fun little debate between the two of us. THANKS!:goodvibes

We have never had any wish to eat in the British Pavilion in Epcot. We eat fairly international at home and most certainly don't see the need to have Fish and Chips or Cottage Pie when we are on vacation. Ironically, we have eaten at the German pavilion, but I rarely get German food nowadays.

I am watching the ash cloud here: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/volcanic?LANG=en&ART=0&BASE=201005151800

We have a 2 day beffer built in but I would hate to lose out on seeing Barcelona. I wonder what the airlines are doing to keep people moving. I think they all learned a painful lesson when flights completely stopped for 3 days...

Working for an airline, there is very little we can do. If the authorities close the airspace, then there is nothing we can do. What really got me is that we had two days of disruptions caused by airspace closures on Sunday/ Monday for an ash cloud that never materialized. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that safety needs to be everybody's first concern, but we all know how hit and miss weather forecasts can be.

So, I was right - we can probably bring some of the cruise shirts over to barcleona with us. I have part of a carry one that is (yep, really) not accounted for...

Does this work for people? I can bring them all the way to the ship and distribute at the meet, or if you are at the Praktik I can distribute there...

Thoughts??

That would be fantastic.

I see that nasty little ash cloud has closed down heathrow again. I'm a little panicked about this, As most of you know, we are coming from Australia and arrive on the Friday 17th around lunch time. But, If that cloud is back I'm not sure how we'll get there? As long as we can get to Europe, we should be able to jump on a flight to Barcelona, right? Or if Barcelona airport is closed, how hard is it to get a train? Worse case, Can we meet up in Gibralter? Will Disney allow us to board there?
I know alot of you are in the same boat (:rotfl:), what are your contingency plans?
If there was ever a time to cross-pack, this is it, if we have to change flights after our luggage has been checked from Australia, what's the chance of getting it all, Must remember a change of clothes in the cabin bag!!! :thumbsup2

On the first Med cruise we had a whole lot of people joining us in Malta and one family from our Cruise Meet Thread joined us in Naples.

Thank you! I had never heard that - lol! We will be on Captains Dining for this cruise :) and hopefully will have our favorite server again! He just came on from vacation on the EBTA and it was wonderful having him (we also had him on our WBPC cruise in 2008)

This would not be be Edward from England by any chance? If it is, we have requested him as well, but we have Crew Dining.

Just trying to figure out our FE gifts- are more people doing 1 gift per cabin or per person? Or does it matter? I'm not very creative but I love to think I am  Since we only have 120 days until we leave, I have to get on the ball. I have to stop reading the home made FE gift thread. It gives me too many ideas that I know I can't do!

I will do something by cabin, but it will consist of loads of little things. I have received three things already and one more on order. I made something as well and I still have a few more ideas up my sleeve.

And does that "Little Birdie" have any insight on the Med by chance ??? lol

pirate:

One our Med cruise, we had a formal night on day 2, semi-formal on the second sea day (day 8) and Pirate Night on the day that we were in La Spezia (day 7)

I love it when a plan comes together. The following is from Autumn in the Concierge dept. Who was more than happy to share it so I could plan things with my ship mates accordingly. She probably didn't know thathtere were hundreds of us...

Disney Magic 14 Night Transatlantic 2010 09/18/2010
Port of CallDay's & Dates - MenuRotation
BARCELONA Saturday, September 18, 2010 - Let The Magic Begin
AT SEA Sunday, September 19, 2010 - Taste of the Caribbean
GIBRALTAR Monday, September 20, 2010 - Prince & Princess - Formal
AT SEA Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - Rotation
MADEIRA Wednesday, September 22, 2010 - Rotation
AT SEA Thursday, September 23, 2010 - Rotation
AT SEA Friday, September 24, 2010 - Villains
AT SEA Saturday, September 25, 2010 - Transatlantic - Formal
AT SEA Sunday, September 26, 2010 - Pirates
AT SEA Monday, September 27, 2010 - Flavors of the Med
ST MAARTEN Tuesday, September 28, 2010 - Master Chef
TORTOLA Wednesday, September 29, 2010 - Around the World
AT SEAThursday, September 30, 2010 - Captains Gala - Semi Formal
CASTAWAY CAY Friday, October 01, 2010 - Till We Meet Again

I toook the liberty to point out formal, semi formal and Pirate... :cool1:

Hope this help everyone!!!

Thanks for doing this for us. It is a little strange that with all the sea days, formal night is on a port day.

Sue, I really appreciate this, but I find it a little odd, that the Med dinners will be when we are in the Caribbean and the Caribbean dinners are when we are in the Med. Any chance the concierge didn't know as much as us!! ha ha!! It doesn't match up with "Little Birdie" either. I just thought I would bring it up to see if anyone else found it odd. Maybe I am odd:dance3:

It is a bit odd. I would expect the Flavours of the Mediterranean menu (which is fabulous by the way) while we are still in Europe.
I was thinking that this was a

Only 1 semi formal night :confused3

I am not too happy about this. I bought two new semi-formal dresses because I had originally heard that there would be three.

I just spoke with Castaway Club and she gave me different info....

Formal nights:

Night # 2 (19th) and night # 7 (24th)
Night # 8 -(25th) themed night (but she had no info on what that meant. I'm thinking maybe Villians)
Pirates - St Marteen night which is night # 11
Semi formal night #13 - this would likely be Captain's Gala and lobster night.

Now we have confusion, but it makes more sense to have Pirates when we are in the Caribbean. It also is more like Disney to have the first formal night on a sea day (day 2) vs Gibralter day.

That sounds a lot better. We had a cruise casual night on lobster night and it just felt not right. Fortunately everybody on our table felt that way and we all came dressed up in semi-formal clothes.

It will be - come with us!!!

I was going to ask if anybody has a laminating machine? I went to the laminator today for some FE stuff and magnets and he wanted $1.99 a page! I have LOTS of pages. I saw one in Michael's for $19.99 but wanted to know if anybody has a brand they recommend. I think it would be cheaper if I did it.

I bought a Xyron before our Med cruise and love it. I made all my magnets with this.

Ok, Question group...what quarter is our cruise considered?

Third quarter 2010? If yes the date for the Fuel Surcharge to OBC conversion would be June 17th. And we have to be under $70 a barrel of Light Sweet Crude ( or WTI) on that date at close of market.

If we are 4th quarter the date would be September 17th, which doesn't make sense for a September 18th cruise, right?

Right now it is flirting with $70 a barrel, fingers crossed that it sits steady and even wants to drop a little more.

Pj

We are definitely cruising in the third quarter.

about the spa - there was a new treatment (at least I had never seen it before) on the EBTA and it was a couple thing - it was learn to massage - one of you got to be the massager and the other one getting the massage - there is a trained person in there showing you how to do it. There are two sessions - one is back/legs - other is front/head/foot - arms were on one of those but don't remember which as we did both. The cool thing is that the cost is like $60 (or something around that) and it INCLUDES a bottle of Muscle Ease or another kind of oil used for the massage - and not a little sample bottle - a full size bottle! The bottle of stuff costs $61 itself! we love muscle ease and this is one of the best deals I have found on the cruise.

So if any couple is looking for something different this is a fun one to do - it was not on the pre-booking but could be booked on board and we had no trouble getting a time for it. They even offer it like at 9 pm at night - after dinner and show but before bed - would make for a romatic evening ;)

Krisann

That sounds like great fun. I think we might well book it if this is on offer on the WBTA.

Well, we are PIF as well now and have been since Monday. Now I just need to get my leave confirmed. Our rosters are changing as of June 28th and this has caused the hold up with the confirmation of my leave. Both my boss and our Resource Planning department say that there won't be a problem. There better won't be

Corinna

With the Chrome bowser, when I get the so called DIS screen of death, I can close the browser then come back, click on the bottom list to go to the last Disboard post and get what I was posting without loosing any of my ramblings. Were you not able to do that???

No, I was at work on my lunch break using Windoze and IE:sick:, sigh....

Pj

Just you?? We have a table for 4 and there are just the 3 of us. I'm sure PJ and Dennis would not mind extra company if you would like to join us. Trojans, ya know. ;)

I am up for this!

So sorry. My mom does not like to be "rubbed" anywhere. :confused3 Hard for us massage hounds to understand, but to each his own as they say.

I spend most of the time giggling while I get a pedicure, but I am willing to suffer for the toes.

Pj

If the ones we want are not available then I guess we will have to fall back to plan B which is to either book private excursions or risk seeing if they are available on the ship.

Any advice?

In my 10 cruises I have not seen many excursions fill up. One did on the first 10 day southern but that was because a hundred or so DISers all went on the pirate ship excursion. :rolleyes1 I would book Palo tea first, Palo brunch second, Palo dinner third, then spa, and lastly excursions. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I'm always like this, you should see me at a movie theater until I get my seat! LOL!!! I need to relax more... LOL!

I somehow hurt my shoulder this afternoon. I carried in groceries and sat down to go online for a bit and then out of the blue my shoulder started to kill me! I don't think I did anything to it, but it really hurts!

Sorry about your shoulder. I know my DH shoulder sometimes hurts when he types too much on the computer. The Dr says it is the way he sits over the computer.

I think we all need to relax more. That's why we are going on a cruise with all those sea days!!! :woohoo::woohoo: It will all work out, provided I do not forget to take my passport with me!!

Sorry about your shoulder. We both have troubles with our right shoulder blade area alot......computer shoulder they say. :surfweb::headache:

Don't worry, I get just as uptight. You should see me at the airport - I am a disaster. I am always nervous at the port too until I do the paperwork and find a way they cannot tell me to leave or not allowed on. I have been in line where the person 2 rows down has been denied boarding - I still have nightmares! I either don't talk when I am nervous or talk too much, so if you see me before I get on the ship, excuse my behavior!

Gismo - I am going to type up the medication this weekend. Do you want me to e-mail it to you for the Navigator or how should I do it?

Dolphingirl47 - why don't you like the split bathrooms? This is my first time in a non-split and I am having anxiety.

The 25th sounds OK to me. Is that the night of the formal dinner?

I think we have 15 or 16 ladies. Can you book that many?

Will you need room numbers to book?

Thanks once again.

Thanks to the platinums in our group, we were able to book Palo, even the tea, which was not initially available.

I think/hope they do hold back spots for those who can book later. For the 9/8/10 MED, we were surprised to see some excursions and Palo brunch on the first sea day were not available on day one for platinums.

Oh, and checked with the birdie and he's sticking with his formal/semi-formal/pirate dates..so who knows...

That sound real fab, when and where could you sign up for it?

We could sign up on the first day - I had a pedicure on day one and that is when I found out about it (reading the "specials" sheet they have on day one) and I booked it that day - we added the 2nd one after the first one - once we figured it all out :)

You can actually tell them to mark your reservation to not be upgraded (not me - will take any upgrade but I have heard others have done it and Disney granted their wish to NOT upgrade

This would not be be Edward from England by any chance? If it is, we have requested him as well, but we have Crew Dining.

Nope - it is Agus from Indonesia - but as we learned on the last cruise - there were two Agus' from INdonesia so it took a change or two to get the right one - including the dining room manager bringing me his picture to make sure it was the correct one before they switched us again - it all worked out and we had our Agus and a wonderful time!

That sounds like great fun. I think we might well book it if this is on offer on the WBTA.

it really was fun - I hope they offer it again also.

You sound very much like me too! LOL!!!! OMG, that would upset me if somebody by me was denied boarding...I would freak out too!

I put ice on my shoulder tonight and it helped a little bit. I'm hoping it feels better by tomorrow because I have to work at the Disney Store!

:
We still have to wait till June 20th :sad2:

Jon

June 20th...I wish.......We are JULY 5th!!! Lowly 1st time cruisers!!!:rotfl:

Hi all

Finally trying to catch up on here. Funeral yesterday was hard as expected and exams were awful but hey there's always resits next year.

I also finally paid in full today - cutting it fine I know but I've kept forgetting all week.

We get to book excursions from the 6th June I think so not long to wait. Anyway going to go back over posts now so will have a few posts off me catching up.

Glad to have you back :goodvibes

I don't think you have any concerns about the kids clubs filling up on this sailing given that there are probably a lot less kids on it than many other cruises. Plus, if they let you book a stateroom with kids in it, then there is space in the kids programming for your children!

They may not request preregistration of all children. You'll be fine!

Of Course, I din't think of that, they wouldn't accept more kids onboard than they can handle in the kids club! Great! :) Thanks.

Stephen is 13 and will do Ocean Quest - no registration. You will be able to register the girls, I am not sure there is a limit or not, but have never heard of anyone being turned away!!

We did Palo for dinner (8:30) on the 21st, brunch (10:30) on the 23rd and Tea on the 25th.

I booked a massage, but don't like the time (4:30) and will try and change that today with the Concierge team.

Is the 25th for tea ok with everyone? If so, I will try and get it for 12 of us.

Oh Becca pulled the first ring off the chain today! She is soooo excited!!

Sounds fantastic.
We haven't started pulling rings yet, we are at 117 days till we leave, the rings start at 112, they ask me every few days, probably shouldn't have hung them so early, It's pure torture for them!

Trouble is I get even more tense just incase lol! Did try one once and the woman pretty much gave up after 10 mins as I was so stressed from it all it wasn't worth it! Even sometimes Dan touches my neck and I jump. Weird!

Not weird, My DMIL can't stand anyone touching her feet. Even when the kids were babies and would crawl past she would freak out! :rotfl:

Please can anyone tell me if I would have paid a fuel surcharge as we booked this in Oct 07 and I can't remember my Christmas cruise let alone that one. I also booked a cabin for my sister and partner as a present last May would this have a fuel charge.

On another matter we had one of those small amount $ cheques sent to us in the post from DCL, could we add that to the room as a dollar cheque is no use in the UK.

As for the rasul, it's as much fun as you want, wink wink!!! hell go for it you only live once.

WOW, this fuel charge thing is a big issue, DCL really should make it a bit fairer. I suppose they were hoping we wouldn't discuss it to find out who paid and who hasn't? Then they would get away with it? We booked October 2009 and didn't pay. I've heard from other Dis'ers that I will be charged if it applies, and others have said NO, I won't. I don't remember being told that I may incur further charges when I booked, So I don't know how they could?
How much are we talking about here, is it a flat dollar amount, or percentage of cruise cost?

You got cheques from DCL? Lucky you!

You've got me intrigued about the rasul now, can you do it as a couple?

I really need to get into the habit of writing down the number of the last post I read each time I'm online. I forget and I miss so much of what's going on!! :rotfl2:

Me 2! :rotfl2:

Eh, what am I again? I am the lowest one possible. Need to go n check.

No, that would be me! First time cruiser! July 5th.

I just click on the "user CP" at the upper left of the screen then it takes me to a list of the threads I am participating in that have had a post since I last was on. I think click the little blue arrow thing at the left of the name of the thread and it takes me to the last post I read.

Didn't know I could do that! Thanks!!!!! :flower3:

OK, So we booked a Cat 10, just to have the split bathroom (there are 4 of us), So what don't you like? :confused3 We thought it would be easier? Please tell! :)

This is good to know. I'll have to check it out later, when I am not so tired!! :surfweb: :goodvibes

Dang... I spent $9,000.oo for DH to become a massage therapist???
And all I needed to do is go on a cruise??? :rotfl2:
It's gonna be tough to get him a massage, he teaches it!:rotfl:
He might grade the therapists:laughing:

You could always put him to work for all of us who can't get into the spa! You might pay for your cruise! :lmao:

I have still not paid for the cruise, and my deadline is tomorrow. We have not sat down and gone over shore excursions either. I am normally over planning and this time I am not. I need some pixie dust to get my act together because my sister and DBIL are doing their vow renewal on the cruise and my birthday is while we are on the cruise. Maybe tonight I will bite the bullet and just pay it off and then get the shore excursions done.

Now you have PIF - it might seem a bit more real and I'm hoping you are feeling the magic/pixie dust now?

another olive hater here :( I keep trying to like them but it's a no go....:rolleyes1

I don't mind olives - there are so many different flavours of them so it pays to try the different types - spanish are very different to kalamata and those awful processed rubber ring ones they put on cheap pizza are disgusting...

Reservations open at 12 midnight Eastern, so depends where you live!!!

In the UK that means we have to be up and ready to go before 5am! HOw I wish we lived in the Pacific time zone.:rotfl2:

Ironic that I live in the first timezone in the world and I didn't want to book anything ;)

I really need to get into the habit of writing down the number of the last post I read each time I'm online. I forget and I miss so much of what's going on!! :rotfl2:

I always book mark after I've posted - so as soon as I hit submit reply in a second, I'll wait for it to post and immediately add it as a bookmark. I find its the easiest way to keep track.
