Why no higher than 11? Bathroom layout?
Yes, I cannot cope with the split bathroom. I caused a bit of a stir for our Med cruise as they had upgraded us to a category 10. In the end and after a lot of effort from my
travel agent,
DCL agreed to put us back into a category 12 cabin, which we loved. DH is teasing me that we have a "Do no upgrade" note against our name now. I really hope that he is right.
My daughter and I were having a conversation tonight at dinner and she wanted me to ask all of you from Great Britain - when you go to Epcot, do you eat in Great Britain or do you avoid it because that is where you live? I said you probably go and she said you probably avoid it. We are just trying to have a fun little debate between the two of us. THANKS!
We have never had any wish to eat in the British Pavilion in Epcot. We eat fairly international at home and most certainly don't see the need to have Fish and Chips or Cottage Pie when we are on vacation. Ironically, we have eaten at the German pavilion, but I rarely get German food nowadays.
I am watching the ash cloud here:

We have a 2 day beffer built in but I would hate to lose out on seeing Barcelona. I wonder what the airlines are doing to keep people moving. I think they all learned a painful lesson when flights completely stopped for 3 days...
Working for an airline, there is very little we can do. If the authorities close the airspace, then there is nothing we can do. What really got me is that we had two days of disruptions caused by airspace closures on Sunday/ Monday for an ash cloud that never materialized. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that safety needs to be everybody's first concern, but we all know how hit and miss weather forecasts can be.
So, I was right - we can probably bring some of the cruise shirts over to barcleona with us. I have part of a carry one that is (yep, really) not accounted for...
Does this work for people? I can bring them all the way to the ship and distribute at the meet, or if you are at the Praktik I can distribute there...
Thoughts??
That would be fantastic.
I see that nasty little ash cloud has closed down heathrow again. I'm a little panicked about this, As most of you know, we are coming from Australia and arrive on the Friday 17th around lunch time. But, If that cloud is back I'm not sure how we'll get there? As long as we can get to Europe, we should be able to jump on a flight to Barcelona, right? Or if Barcelona airport is closed, how hard is it to get a train? Worse case, Can we meet up in Gibralter? Will Disney allow us to board there?
I know alot of you are in the same boat

rotfl

, what are your contingency plans?
If there was ever a time to cross-pack, this is it, if we have to change flights after our luggage has been checked from Australia, what's the chance of getting it all, Must remember a change of clothes in the cabin bag!!!
On the first Med cruise we had a whole lot of people joining us in Malta and one family from our Cruise Meet Thread joined us in Naples.
Thank you! I had never heard that - lol! We will be on Captains Dining for this cruise

and hopefully will have our favorite server again! He just came on from vacation on the EBTA and it was wonderful having him (we also had him on our WBPC cruise in 2008)
This would not be be Edward from England by any chance? If it is, we have requested him as well, but we have Crew Dining.
Just trying to figure out our FE gifts- are more people doing 1 gift per cabin or per person? Or does it matter? I'm not very creative but I love to think I am

Since we only have 120 days until we leave, I have to get on the ball. I have to stop reading the home made FE gift thread. It gives me too many ideas that I know I can't do!
I will do something by cabin, but it will consist of loads of little things. I have received three things already and one more on order. I made something as well and I still have a few more ideas up my sleeve.
And does that "Little Birdie" have any insight on the Med by chance ??? lol
One our Med cruise, we had a formal night on day 2, semi-formal on the second sea day (day 8) and Pirate Night on the day that we were in La Spezia (day 7)
I love it when a plan comes together. The following is from Autumn in the Concierge dept. Who was more than happy to share it so I could plan things with my ship mates accordingly. She probably didn't know thathtere were hundreds of us...

Hope this help everyone!!!
Thanks for doing this for us. It is a little strange that with all the sea days, formal night is on a port day.
Sue, I really appreciate this, but I find it a little odd, that the Med dinners will be when we are in the Caribbean and the Caribbean dinners are when we are in the Med. Any chance the concierge didn't know as much as us!! ha ha!! It doesn't match up with "Little Birdie" either. I just thought I would bring it up to see if anyone else found it odd. Maybe I am odd
It is a bit odd. I would expect the Flavours of the Mediterranean menu (which is fabulous by the way) while we are still in Europe.
I was thinking that this was a
Only 1 semi formal night
I am not too happy about this. I bought two new semi-formal dresses because I had originally heard that there would be three.
I just spoke with
Castaway Club and she gave me different info....
Formal nights:
Night # 2 (19th) and night # 7 (24th)
Night # 8 -(25th) themed night (but she had no info on what that meant. I'm thinking maybe Villians)
Pirates - St Marteen night which is night # 11
Semi formal night #13 - this would likely be Captain's Gala and lobster night.
Now we have confusion, but it makes more sense to have Pirates when we are in the Caribbean. It also is more like Disney to have the first formal night on a sea day (day 2) vs Gibralter day.
That sounds a lot better. We had a cruise casual night on lobster night and it just felt not right. Fortunately everybody on our table felt that way and we all came dressed up in semi-formal clothes.
It will be - come with us!!!
I was going to ask if anybody has a laminating machine? I went to the laminator today for some FE stuff and magnets and he wanted $1.99 a page! I have LOTS of pages. I saw one in Michael's for $19.99 but wanted to know if anybody has a brand they recommend. I think it would be cheaper if I did it.
I bought a Xyron before our Med cruise and love it. I made all my magnets with this.
Ok, Question group...what quarter is our cruise considered?
Third quarter 2010? If yes the date for the Fuel Surcharge to OBC conversion would be June 17th. And we have to be under $70 a barrel of Light Sweet Crude ( or WTI) on that date at close of market.
If we are 4th quarter the date would be September 17th, which doesn't make sense for a September 18th cruise, right?
Right now it is flirting with $70 a barrel, fingers crossed that it sits steady and even wants to drop a little more.
Pj
We are definitely cruising in the third quarter.
about the spa - there was a new treatment (at least I had never seen it before) on the EBTA and it was a couple thing - it was learn to massage - one of you got to be the massager and the other one getting the massage - there is a trained person in there showing you how to do it. There are two sessions - one is back/legs - other is front/head/foot - arms were on one of those but don't remember which as we did both. The cool thing is that the cost is like $60 (or something around that) and it INCLUDES a bottle of Muscle Ease or another kind of oil used for the massage - and not a little sample bottle - a full size bottle! The bottle of stuff costs $61 itself! we love muscle ease and this is one of the best deals I have found on the cruise.
So if any couple is looking for something different this is a fun one to do - it was not on the pre-booking but could be booked on board and we had no trouble getting a time for it. They even offer it like at 9 pm at night - after dinner and show but before bed - would make for a romatic evening
Krisann
That sounds like great fun. I think we might well book it if this is on offer on the WBTA.
Well, we are PIF as well now and have been since Monday. Now I just need to get my leave confirmed. Our rosters are changing as of June 28th and this has caused the hold up with the confirmation of my leave. Both my boss and our Resource Planning department say that there won't be a problem. There better won't be
