Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

Greetings from Lake Titicaca, Puno, Peru, where we are continuing our adventures.

On Wednesday, we visited Machu Picchu, which is absolutely breathtaking.

We enjoyed the WBTA and seeing so many friends --old and new. Thank you to those who organized activities, lanyards, wristbands, and everything else that made the cruise so special.

Woody

WOW Woody .. your travels never cease to amaze me. Peru sounds very exciting. Hopefully you can upload some photos to show us where you have been at some point. Take care and enjoy the rest of your trip. to you both.

OK haven't caught up at all yet so appologises. Just wanted to say thank you all for making our vacation so fantastic. We got back yesterday and are shattered lol! Will post more soon.

Sarah

Hi Sarah and wlecome home to sunny ( for once ) Wales. I am stioll shattered after a week and am still waiting to start feeling normal again

Well, we are back home and simply collapsed last night. We arrived in Mexico City on Friday evening and stayed at a hotel near the airport. Took the bus from the airport to home on Saturday arriving about 2:30 p.m., so it wasn't too horrid. We get to pick up the dogs today; wonder if they'll remember us?

It was great meeting so many of you; lots of fun conversations everywhere we turned. We booked a few cruises for down the road (rebooked the TA for next September but may have to postpone that one) so hope to see some of you on those as well!

Be well, everyone!!!

Michael

Hi Michael and Marc. It was really lovely meeting you both too. Hope you have a lovely reunion with your dogs.

For those who rebooked something onboard and had it transferred straight away to Dreams, have you heard anything from them yet? I am sure we have normally heard before now.

We don't use Dreams as our TA but we actually heard from our TA while on board concerning the bookings we transferred to her. She kept saying: "Another one, hey;" and "Another one?????;" and then "ANOTHER ONE?????":happytv: so our stuff certainly got to her quickly.

I am now really pleased that I didn't rebook on the ship .... I am now finding prices online which are less than the ones I was quoted on the ship, even taking into account the booking on board discount. This happened to us last time aswell. :confused3:confused3:confused3

I still can't book anything until we know whether DD Taryn has got a place on the WDW college programme for summer 2011. That will dictate our plans for 2011, as if she gets it we will have to travel to Orlando to see her at some point. She has her first interview in about 2 weeks so all pixie dust you can spare would be useful :wizard:

Do we have a list of who is cruising when and where in 2011, just out of interest :thumbsup2

I find it interesting that you find the prices to be less online for other cruises. I just checked our category for next years WBTA and it still $600 higher than the cost of what we booked on board. For us, it is $800 less than we paid for this years WBTA in the same room!! Maybe SR costs vary from cruise to cruise.

Lots and lots of pixiedust: for your daughter Taryn to get into the WDW College program.

Michael, I dont think we met, I kept going up to folk that looked like your picture(very remotely) and saying "are you Michael?" I stopped after a few times:confused:
Anyway, sorry we missed you.

Lynne, I missed meeting you as well. Something tells me we were probably just a couple steps away from each at all times and just didn't connect. So sorry it didn't happen.

I had a great time on our Magic-al journey!!! It was so nice to meet you all! I loved the tastings, tour of Madeira, visiting, and gifts - I received FE gifts and I didn't participate! Thanks to you all!!!

I got sick in Orlando and it got worse when I got home. I spent the last few days on the couch. I'm so thankful the worst of it hit me once I was home. And now reality sets in...Back to work tomorrow. I just looked at my calendar and boy will I be busy in the next few weeks. I'll be thinking of you all and of the great voyage we shared! Miss you all!!!!! :grouphug:

We slept in today then went to Downtown Disney. DIS sighting there of KermitRocks. :thumbsup2 This is SO cool! :cool1:

It was great to see you and Dennis! I'm glad to have met you both!!! :hippie:

Just FYI- anyone who rebooked onboard.... make sure you actually got it booked!
We rebooked onboard 2 rooms for 2 dummy date cruises (4 rooms total/2 cruises total) and even got the paper with quotes and said it would be charged (deposit) to credit card. I'd also put on the form to list our travel agent on the bookings.

I got a call the following Monday (from Alexandria I think the name was? Not sure really) and she said the rebooking onboard were all messed up- some didn't go thru, some deposits charged to credit cards didn't go thru, and both those things happened to us PLUS our travel agent wasn't listed on either one :scared1: We only had one booking, credit card not charged deposit, TA not listed.... all messed up.

We got it taken care of, but I have to wonder how many might not even realize their onboard rebooking didn't really take place or won't finalize since deposit charge didn't go thru and also how many weren't done with TA listed as requested. So might wanna double check that... ASAP. I'm glad she called, but if the deposit charges hadn't shown up on my credit card pretty quickly I would have known something was wrong anyway.

I am embarrassed to admit I have forgotten "The Queen of Hearts" real name. I wanted to send her these pics that John took on Villains night.

If she is still on the board or someone knows her DIS name, will you PM me?

We also had some problems with 1) wrong staterooms booked and 2)credit card not charged.

I got an email from DCL with the above mentioned problems right before Franchesa from DCL called us on Tuesday, Oct 5. Within minutes of getting the email, I was just getting ready to call DCL when Francesca called me to discuss the bookings. Luckily, we got all of the issues that were incorrect resolved in our favor.

During the call, I expressed my displeasure with the on board booking process at that time and was assured that my problem was as isolated incident as the credit card was mistakenly not charged. When I queried her about why they were sending me an email if the credit card was not charged, she said DCL was giving me a second chance to rebook since the original on board booking had expired. She said there must have been a "misunderstanding" on why the credit card was not charged.

As for me, I didn't think that explanation sounded reasonable since DCL gave me different rooms in the "new" booking but since I was able to reinstate the original rooms with the on board credits and pricing, I didn't make too much of a fuss.

I hadn't heard anything from anyone else on the board or if they posted, I missed the posting, so I thought it was just us that got things messed up with the on board agent who seemed pretty overwhelmed when I spoke with her. With all the on board bookings DCL seems to do, it seems strange to me DCL only assign one agent for on so many on board bookings.

Just my thoughts...

Kelsie is my TA, and I do know she doesn't always get back to me too quickly when I send her queries, so just wondered if this was the case or not or if generally DCL have been slow passing the bookings on. I guess we have almost a year, but you not that long!!!:headache:

She is normally lightning quick for me. Often I have a reply within 10 minutes even though I sometimes email her at strange times like Sunday lunchtime her time. I know that I had problems with two bookings that I made on board last year and nominated them and they never got informed by DCL. I provided them with the DCL booking reference and they then managed to get this straightened out in no time.

This does not surprise me at all. I was less than impressed with the booking process this time round after all. I was worried that my booking was messed up or that it had not gone to my travel agent. The first thing that I did when I got online at home was to check that the booking actually existed. I was more than a little relieved not only to find the reservation, but also the notice that I need to contact my travel agent for any changes. We also checked our credit card statement online and the cruise is on there as well so all is good here.

Ah Francesca was the name. LOL
I inquired what the problem was too- and she just kept saying the agent was "overwhelmed". :confused3 It honestly sounded like she didn't know what she was doing or something. She even had more days to get everything squared away, even if every person onboard rebooked... you'd think that's a pretty important thing to make sure they get done! I doubt DCL would like a lot of bookings to never happen because of their mistakes. I never saw the onboard agent though. I filled out a form and added notes that made it VERY CLEAR what I wanted- and it was still messed up. Originally I got the card for only one cruise booking when I clearly said two... but I called her and she said she'd do the other one and even gave me the dates and asked if she could charge my card for both which I ofcourse gave the go ahead. Got home and got the call saying only one was booked, card not charged, TA not listed on the booking, etc.

What a mess. :(
I know from talking to my TA that many others were messed up like this and who knows how many other countless others were messed up. Some people might not realize it until much later, I fear. :(

Well our booking is on the DCL site, so I guess I can take that as having gone through OK. It also says to contact our TA to make changes etc, so I also presume that means it has been sent to Kelsie.

I will send off an email to her tomorrow and check as it does seem like there were plenty of errors this time.

We were in Gibraltar taking a tour whit two couple (Family), i like to now who you're. You live in America that i now. I was the one whit the red hair.

Connie

That would be me, my brother Stephen (Nacho1337) and our parents Linda and David.

We booked a 4 day Dream and a dummy date using Dreams Unlimited as our TA.

Like you, our cruises were on the DCL site with the TA lingo; but we hadn't heard anything from DU.

I emailed them a couple of days ago with the DCL reservation numbers to make sure that they got them and within a couple of hours I had confirmation from DU.

I wanted to be sure that the dummy reservation was ready if we need it to book a 2012 cruise and DU will be really busy when the new itineraries come out.

We don't have an assigned agent... Not sure how you go about getting one. They keep telling us to email the concierge team... :confused3

A giant "thank you" to everyone who made this trip so special. Greg and I especially enjoyed many a night in Diversions with Mike & Jody (AlexandNessa) and chatting with Andrea and Greg. This was an amazing cruise, especially for first-time cruisers, but we likely won't be back for a couple of years. Time to use some DVC points and hopefully enjoy some European cities in a more leisurely fashion, too.

I'll be starting a trip report over on that board fairly soon. We started the trip with Greg (DH) being hit by a truck, so...there's a story there.

Thanks again everyone!

You will probably find that you are predominantly dealing with one agent. This happened with us. Most of the time when I emailed DU, Kelsie replied. We were very happy with her services and now nominate her by name so we only deal with her now. Even for the first couple of bookings, where we did not have a specific agent to deal with, we always got responses very quickly and as I said, most of the time it was one agent (Kelsie) dealing with our bookings.

Would love to see pictures!!

No, but I have had this problem before that DCL never told them that they had been nominated. I ended up emailing them the DCL confirmation numbers after about a month and they were then able to claim those bookings from DCL. I emailed Kelsie my DCL confirmation number for the Panama Canal cruise yesterday and I am hoping to hear back tomorrow.

I started to wonder if this had been screwed up as previously it had my travel agents name and the DU address on the confirmation, but this time it had my name and address. As soon as I got home, I checked my reservation online and it does say that I need to contact my travel agent for any changes.

I need to get her on the case fairly swiftly once they have taken control of the booking. I made the mistake to check the prices for the cruise today and noticed that I can get a Navigator Veranda for around the same amount that I paid for the category 11B on the ship. Even better, I would be able to choose a specific cabin so I am seriously considering upgrading.

Corinna

Our dummy booking is good. We have already gotten our Disney Visa bill with it on it and an email from Disney. They should have known that with so many repeat cruisers we would all take advantage of the 10% off deal. Just hope it stays that way for the 2012 cruises.

What happened??

Our reservation was there but not our TA info and not the on-board-credit. It took our TA talking with a supervisor before they would give it to us.
I thought Leslie, the booking agent was very nice and prompt. I know she worked through her lunch time and called us late in the evenings. I also found the quotes were delivered to our room within 1 day. Plus she was training someone else. On other cruises the agent was there only during the posted hours and it tooks days and days before we got the quote card returned and then only after mentioning it to her. I wonder if it was the agent or the wonderful DCL system that messed up. We all know how defective that system is. val

I am so glad you had such a positive experience with Leslie. I had the complete opposite experience. I gave her all of my information when I personally booked with her. She asked if she should charge the card on file and I said yes. When I had not heard from her in writing, I made several trips to see her and was told not to worry, that everything would be done after the cruise.

I never received anything in writing until I received an email from DCL the Tuesday following the cruise.
