Joining in and loving your report! Love the picture of you three with the dolphin! What a beautiful photo for such a great memory!

Looking forward to hearing more about your cruise. :goodvibes

And your children are so happy, good job mom. :flower3:

Enjoying your report...can not wait to hear more!

At Blue Lagoon did you get to anything more than Dolphin Encounter? I am interested in the beach day there....thanks..:thumbsup2

We did! I'll post pics when I'm not at work!

BUT...............we remember seeing you guys! Your little girl's dress was stunning on embarkation day and my daughter and I were commenting about it! We must have been waiting to board at the same time. I think we saw you guys as you were getting that pic in your siggy taken! We were standing to the right of you :-)

Oh how funny! Thanks :)

Love your photos! The dolphin family pic is adorable, love it!

What a happy family you have! You all look like you're having the time of you life! I'm loving your report and photos. Thank you!! We will be on the Dream December 5th and can't wait.

Hi, We were on this sailing also. In fact, when I saw the view from your balcony it looked very familiar. We were in room 9012- right next door! We had a great time. I'm glad you did too. Great report!

We did! I was really unsure how the whole thing would work, because on the actual Blue Lagoon website it lists a "beach day" for an additional charge (when added to a dolphin or sea lion encounter) or you could purchase just a beach day. However, when I was signing up for this excursion on the DCL website, I didn't see a way to add a beach day to my dolphin experience. Another DISer said we would just be able to use the beach with no problem, so I took a chance and figured I'd see how it went. Well, Disney must set it up for us with beach included or something because the Blue Lagoon people were very encouraging to us to stay, eat, use the beach, hang out, etc. There is a wooden ramp/bridge that takes you from the dolphin experience area to the beach area. It is clearly marked. We just grabbed our bag after the dolphins and walked over.

I'm working on the next segment of my trip report and it includes this. :)

Next door!! So cool! :)

I'm back! Busy weekend!

Thanks everyone for all the kind compliments!

Okie doke, on with the next part:

After the dolphin encounter was over we skipped the long line to look at the pictures and video and opted to do that later. Instead we grabbed our beach bag and followed the signs to the beach area. It was about a 10 min walk. Lovely scenery and so we took quite a few pics.

We got to the beach and it was almost totally empty! Plenty of lounge chairs and clean, soft sand! We hung out for about an hour. There were inner tube and other floatie rentals available but we skipped that, and just took in the sun and gorgeous beach.

At this point we got hungry and started talking about getting the next boat off the island. I read signs that there is a place to eat right there on Blue Lagoon, but I couldn't readily locate it and a big storm was brewing and I just didn't feel like getting caught on the island in a thunderstorm (I'm from Florida where lightning kills often!). We walked backed to the main dock area, and went to change. They have really nice, hot showers and a changing area and after we were all ready, we walked over to the photo area to view our pictures. There was only one picture you could purchase right away, the dolphin group shot I posted above. The rest of the photos had to be viewed online and ordered later. We bought the pic, (but passed on the video), did a little shopping in the gift shop and then walked to the dock to catch the 2pm boat back to Nassau. The boat dock overlooks one of the dolphin pools and we got this pic while waiting:

ry%3D400

On the way back to Nassau we passed the most beautiful sight in the Caribbean:

ry%3D400

We wanted to taste some authentic local cuisine so once we got off we asked the locals for a good place to eat. This is where I made a mistake. They all recommended Senor Frogs. I had never heard of the place and so I had no idea what kind of touristy, (drunk bar) kind of place it was. So, we innocently just walked over there.

ry%3D400

They greeted us warmly at the door and sat us outside. The waiter and the rest of the staff were very friendly, but they are used to a different crowd, I think. At one point, an employee who was not our server came over and started making conch male anatomy jokes. To me and my KIDS! Sigh. I am a native New Yorker and really felt like I had to put my City Girl on when I playfully told him to stop talking and move along. He laughed and walked on to another table. It seems to be the culture to joke around and clearly they cater to a young party crowd. My DS had to go to the restroom at one point and it was on the other side of the bar. When he saw what was going on in the bar/dance area, he promptly came back and got me and asked me to accompany him. I was torn (leave my DD12 alone at the table, or send my DS15 alone to the drunk party), but I opted to go with him and it was nuts. Loud music, tons of half-naked drunk girls grinding on guys (and other girls) and big Bahamian guys trying to sell my son a cigar.

We did consider leaving, but as our actual waiter was so nice and respectful and friendly, and we were starved, we decided to stay. The outside area had lots of other tourists and I never felt unsafe. We ordered conch fritters and conch salad, which was prepared fresh at our table by another very nice and respectful waiter.

Conch Fritters (VERY good!)

ry%3D400

The Conch for our salad (They cracked it out of the shell right in front of us! Talk about fresh!)

ry%3D400

The finished product was SO yummy! All three of us really enjoyed it!

ry%3D400

After lunch we headed to find the Straw Market and try to do some shopping.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

That was also an experience, lol! Everyone was nice, just a different culture to ours and obviously a poor people trying hard to provide for their families. They don't let you just browse and they are very forward in trying to get people to buy their goods. We purchased a few things, but it really wasn't shopping like I enjoy doing. We headed back to the ship around 3:30, even though all aboard wasn't for two more hours.

ry%3D400

The requisite Bahamas pic and then back on the ship to get ready for Dress-Up Night!!

ry%3D400

Back on the ship with plenty of time, we headed to the room to relax a little. The first day had been very full and rushed, so it felt good to have time to shower and get dressed leisurely.

Good-bye (from our verandah) Nassau! We will likely not get off the ship next time, lol!

ry%3D400

We got an elephant that day!

ry%3D400

We were all very excited for Dress-Up night. I know there is a lot of back and forth regarding how to dress or not dress for dinner, but for us, getting dressed up makes it feel like a special occasion (which to us, being on a cruise is!) and so we were happy to get all dolled up!

ry%3D400

The show that night was "Villains Tonight", which was fun and funny! Not as impressive as "The Golden Mickey's", but still pretty awesome!

We were scheduled for Animator's Palette and I was so impressed with how stunning this restaurant is! It was a lot more elegant than I imagined.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

By the second night we had already fallen in love with our server Feridun

ry%3D400

The food was amazing! We tried the cheddar cheese soup and the butternut squash soup as well as the truffle pasta, risotto and teriyaki beef. YUMMY! And Crush came by to talk to us!

ry%3D400

All in all and fabulous dinner!

ry%3D400

After dinner we changed and headed out to check out karaoke at D Lounge and take more pics as well as do some laundry!

ry%3D400

I packed a lot of clothes (I thought) but did not account for how sweaty we would get, how many showers we'd take and our wet, salty bathing suits. So we hit the laundry room and did a load. It was easy and the system they have is great.

ry%3D400

After the laundry, it was time for bed because the next day is Castaway Cay!!!

Our goal was to run the Castaway Cay 5K since we enjoy running even though we are not hard core, lol! I ran the Wine and Dine Half marathon with my BFF last year and the kids and I have done several 5Ks locally as well.

So we set out the Room Service breakfast order on the door knob and had it delivered at 6:30am. (On vacation! I know, I'm nuts!) We had hoped to have some time in the morning to ease into things, but that didn't really happen due to us all oversleeping despite the room service delivery, lol! So at 8:15 we headed to Evolutions to sign up for the race. We got our bibs, towels and instructions and we were off. Again the line to leave was longish, but we managed to get off by 8:45.

ry%3D400

We got off and they were selling cold bottles of water for $1.75 and I bought one, mostly for the plastic bottle. We had forgotten to bring our reusable water bottles from home, but I knew there would be water on the race route, so I figured we could just refill the one bottle several times.

We walked pretty briskly to the starting point, about 10 min.

ry%3D400

They had a big crate with a lid that we could place all our belongings in and a cast member would be hanging around watching it. It was near the Start/Finish. We snapped a quick pic and were on our way.

ry%3D400

There were plenty of water stops along the route and a wide variety of people running or walking the race. We saw young, fit runner types, as well as grandparents, families and other chubby Moms like me ;) We were not last and made it across the finish in 38:47.

ry%3D400

We got our Mickey medals and then rewarded ourselves at the very conveniently located smoothie stand with a strawberry smoothie and a virgin pina colada!

ry%3D400

After resting for a little bit on a nearby bench, we walked back to the finish line area which is right by the bicycle rental stand and rented bikes. That had been an activity my DD really wanted us to do on the island. The bikes were plentiful (we did not have reservations) and in good repair. We picked the bikes and headed off. It was sweltering hot, but there was lots of breeze and the
water stops were still full and cold. The route for the bikes overlaps with the 5K route, so most of it we had already seen. We didn't make it all the way to the tower, and I didn't take any pics, but we had a great time!

We were done with that with just enough time to change into our suits and take a quick rinse/shower in one of the many outdoor shower stands to cool off. We then headed to the nearby tram stop to get the tram back to the front of the island to go to our Stingray excursion at 12.

ry%3D400

At the Stingray check in area we got our snorkel gear and walked to a covered pavilion where we were given an instructional talk about stingrays, safety info and a how-to-snorkel briefing. We were able to leave our things in the pavilion and headed down to the beach.

They had about four stingray ramps set up with cast members leading groups of about 6. We were instructed how to feed the stingrays and given lots of shrimp and stingray feed (long rectangular gelatinous sticks of fish pieces and vitamins for the stingrays) to use. It was a weird sensation and honestly, I was a little freaked out. I did not expect to be so it was a surprise, lol! My DS did the best and fed them several times, while my DD and I mostly threw food at the stingrays and stood back while they gulped it up, :rotfl2:

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

After the feeding session we were allowed to snorkel right there in the stingray pool for a while. This was my kids first time snorkeling and they fell in love! We got to see TONS of stingrays, and a variety of fish. The water was never very deep and it was perfect for beginners.

We had a wonderful time and never felt rushed to leave. When we were done we gathered our stuff and headed to find LUNCH!

Your report makes me feel like I am there with you guys!! Love the detail :)

Do you know if the stingrays on CC have had their barbs removed? I would be worried swimming with them if they still had their barbs that's all (after the Steve Irwin thing & all). Lol

Can't wait to hear more.

Yes. They get their barbs cut all the way short every three months :thumbsup2

Finally have some time to try to wrap this baby up!

We were so hungry when we got over to Cookie's! We were supposed to go there, as opposed to Cookie's Too, because that was where our head server told us to go pick up our special allergy meal. He had requested gluten-free chicken tenders and fries and almond milk along with gluten free cookies and donuts for dessert! YUM! We made our way through the buffet and they actually came to find us and carry our special food to the table! Such awesome service :thumbsup2

ry%3D400

No pic of the allergy food (sorry), but here are some goodies from the regular choices. Everything was SO good! We must have eaten out weight in ribs that day!

ry%3D400

And of course, I had to try a Konk Cooler!

ry%3D400

After lunch we headed to the beach to relax in hammocks in the shade. There were plenty available!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

This is my attempt at a selfie, lol! Notice all the sand on my shoulder? Yeah, that's because I had a lot of trouble getting into the hammock and ended up flipping over and landing on my head! (While the kids laughed and my DS lamented not having videotaped it!) Fortunately I figured it out without major spinal damage!!

ry%3D400

Next, on to build some sand castles and swim in the beautiful ocean water with the fish!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

When we were good and tired, we decided to take quick showers and do some shopping. (For all you first-timers, please note: Castaway Cay merchandise can only be purchased on Castaway Cay! Except for a pin or two, you will have to do all your CC purchases on the island!)

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

It was then time to head back to the ship, stopping for a few photo ops.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

The post office

ry%3D400

I thought this was neat: foot washing stations and showers to get rid of the sand before boarding the ship!

Next up: Pirate Night!!!
