Season 7 of 'The Next Food Network Star' stars tonight at 9pm!

So let talk Editing. MB vs. Penny. The network liked MB so maybe she was edited in her favor, they knew Penny had a strong personality very easy to make the bad guy. At the reunion show did you notice that none of the chefs except for MB really had a problem with Penny? but a few of them seemed to be cool toward MB.

Kae

From the get-go I did not like MB, at all. I thought she was fake and conniving. I actually liked Penny. She was just one of the guys and did not want to put with the other womens' bs. My type of gal.

I kept telling my DH, "MB's true colors will show, trust me." She proved my point at the reunion. I totally think they edited the show to make her look like the good guy and Penny as the bad guy- when it reality, it was the opposite. Even Alisha came on this thread and said Penny was not as bad as she was made out to be.

I am just very happy with who won!! Long live the Sandwich King!

Okay, I figured out the difference between the two finalists:
one brought a solid and unique point of view to the competition;
one wanted to be a celebrity chef.

So, does anybody know anything about that FNS Book Tour? Do I need a day off from work, or airfare, too? :).

I'm wondering about it too. I doubt they would come to my area since NYC is so close but I am dying to know about it so I can make my travel plans.
I looked on the website and couldn't find any info. If someone here knows anything please share!

I'm not surprised and I'm not disappointed. He deserved to win, he has a unique POV and a perfect TV personality.

I really like Jeff. Thing he will be comfortable once he is in his own show.
I don't eat sandwiches (low carber), but could work with the fillings. They all looked so good.
I'm not sure I would have watched Susie or Vic (although I liked them both).
Didn't like Penny at all.........Mary Beth just seemed too boring.

So I will give The Sandwich King a try. Must admit, I don't watch any of the other winners' shows except Guy's.

I don't watch Big Bite, but I do like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Of all the NFNS winners, the only one I really like so far is Big Daddy's House.

Just checked the first page of this thread and wow, I can't believe it's been over 2 months since the first episode aired. Summer flew by!

I'm looking forward to watching Jeff's show (Ree Drummond's too!), and I wasn't surprised in the least that he won. Marybeth's nonsense made me dislike her more than I already did. I found the whole Jyll/Chris conflict interesting too. Poor Juba and Katy, I don't think either of them said a word all night!

I am glad Jeff won and will look foward to watching his show. I think that with his cooking ability and his comedic talents, he will turn out to be a big star for Food Network.

I was so happy that Jeff won!! Suzie seems nice enough but if I had to hear about her immigrant parents one more time, I might have screamed.

I'll probably watch Jeff's show, I really like him & was glad he won. I've got to say, I've watch Melissa's show a few times recently, and her recipes look really good. Simple ingredients. I don't care for Indian food so I knew I'd never watch Aarti's, but I liked her & wanted her to win last year.

And I found "Great Foodtruck Race" boring. I love Tyler Florence, but the show just didn't do it for me.

My son and I were so excited when Jeff won! We were talking today about all the different shows he can have. I am personally rooting for the Thanksgiving Leftovers show!! Sandwich with turkey, stuffing and cranberry. :lovestruc

Dang I have a new opinion of Mary Beth. And it's not a very good one.

Add me to the list of people who weren't impressed. I remember the one episode a couple weeks back when Jeff won the camera challenge and he got to hand out the different meats to the remaining contestants. He gave Mary Beth the lamb and she was kinda snarky then because she had never cooked lamb and she felt that he did it on purpose... and unless they edited really well and he covered up really well, I don't think it was an intentional thing at all.

The year Amy won, my favorite contestant was Adrian because he seemed to have so much integrity and I felt the same way about Jeff. I just don't picture him trying to sabotage someone.

Not sure I will watch the winners show, but I did add The Pioneer Woman to my DVR! I can't wait for her new show!

I too was disappointed in MB, I hope it was just a bad edit.

I can't wait for Ree's show! And right away my DVR last night had "Food Network Star Winner" set at 11:30. So my DVR is set :)

Good point.

I'm trying to figure that out, too. I got the email from Amazon today that my book has shipped, so I'm pretty excited about that!!

If Mary Beth was the only person Penny was horrible to, I might agree. But she was nasty to several of the girls. And as someone who is usually "just one of the guys", I can say that I found her to be terribly off-putting. Being one of the guys means going with the flow and letting things roll off your back. The woman was a terrible drama queen.

Poor Juba and Katy, I don't think either of them said a word all night!

I noticed that, too.

Overall, I'm very happy. And I was impressed with Suzie's comment to Vic after he was eliminated... she said something to the effect of it not being an easy decision for the judges and I thought that was a really nice thing to say.

I still would love to see either Justin (the hot one) or Whitney on a show. Justin totally cracked me up during the reunion show. I just loved him.

I can't find information on the tour dates yet, but several of the articles I've read have noted that it's not just Jeff who's going to be involved. Mary Beth, Whitney, Vic, and Susie will also be participating. So I desperately hope this comes to the Buffalo area!!!! I would LOVE to meet Whitney.

And if I managed to get my pic taken with Vic, I could tell everyone I met Vin Diesel ;)

:worship::worship: Again we agree!!

Suzie got on my nerves. Like a PP said, she wanted to be a celebrity. That side of her was very obvious last night.

I used to be called "the Sandwich girl" because I can make ANYTHING into a sandwich!!:rotfl2: I look forward to his show! :thumbsup2

They showed the clip where Mary Beth was eliminated. Jeff went to hug her in sympathy and she put him off with "the hand". When asked during the show, she said something snooty, I think; something about fake feelings? I deleted it, but it's on again in the middle of the night so I'm taping it again in case nobody else has the answer.

Yep, my opinion of Mary Beth went WAY down after last night. During the reunion when they asked her if she'd watch Jeff's show if he won, she came right out and said no, there were too many "bad feelings" or something like that. And when they showed the clip of her stopping Jeff from hugging her, I couldn't believe it! She was so "graceful" all those times she was stuck working with Penny, and they'd never shown us any friction between Jeff and Mary Beth. Very weird.

I didn't see the reunion show. I hope they put it up on hulu so I can see it. (Episodes usually go up on Thursdays.)

I am surprised by MB because she seemed level headed. I did see the clip of her refusing Jeff's hug at elimination and thought it was odd, but I'm not sure what she meant about fake feelings.

It was kind of obvious during the "roast" competition that she thought Jeff assigned her the duck on purpose. I am not sure that he did... but even if he did, that would be a good strategy. (As much as I disliked Penny, when she was given the opportunity to choose the people she was to compete against, I didn't blame her for choosing the people she thought she could beat. It was kind of rude to tell them outright that's why they were picked, but still, the choice was strategy. Being "world's slowest sous chef" on Iron Chef was just obnoxious.)

And, as far as fake feelings, I am not sure any of the hugs after elimination could be counted as "sincere." The remaining competitors might be sorry that someone had to go home, but I'm sure the overwhelming emotion is "Hooray! I made it through!"

I liked Jeff from the beginning -- definitely better than Suzie. I am glad Jeff won.

Oh yeah, it was duck! I said lamb. Oops.

IDK though... I think closer to the end, after spending time together I think they got pretty close. And I don't think the two different feelings need to be mutually exclusive. I think they are sincerly sympathetic to the person who was eliminated while still being thrilled for themselves. Especially Jeff and I would say Vic, too. They both seem to be pretty sincere people (or, they're really good at making us think that anyway!)

I was rooting for Jeff for the last several weeks. Vic was pretty annoying at first, but even though he loosened up I still had a hard time watching him. The 90s called; they want their tattoos back.

I liked Vic Moe much better than Vic Vegas. I think it's inevitable that all three of them will eventually get a show or be on one. They'll give the winner their show for a season and then you'll begin to see the other two creeping into things.

Oh, I definitely agree... it's just that I'm sure it was kind of an ambivalent feeling -- I feel sorry for you, but at the same time I feel happy for myself. (If I were the eliminated contestant, I can imagine wanting to bypass the obligatory hugs/consoling from the remaining contestants and go lick my wounds off camera. I would hate to cry on national TV! But MB didn't appear to be very gracious about it in the clip I saw.
