The movie's over.
I love how sweet it is with Josh & Morgan at the end.
I noticed his friend, Morgan, is the same actor who
a few years later played Omri in "The Indian in the Cupboard."
Another good one, IMO.
I decided to do some searching:
The real Josh Waitzkin was 16 when the movie came out.

Max Pomeranc (the actor who protrayed Josh)
was one of the top 100 chess players in his
age group in the USA while making the movie!
And you're right, he dropped out of acting soon after.
I know what you mean about him in his room.
It cracks me up when he plays against his dad "for real"
and he's playing Mousetrap, talking to a friend on the phone,
and then he's in the bathtub all while his dad's
thinking and thinking and thinking...
While Josh is in the bathtub:
Dad says, "It's your move."
"Did you move that pawn?"
"I moved A pawn."
"Yeah, you moved that one.
Ok, now move my horse in front of my king."
Then dad corrects him on horse vs. knight.
