I'm streaming "Searching for Bobby Fischer"
on Netflix - man I love this movie

That's all :wave2:

I watched it a few weeks ago. Love that movie. :thumbsup2 Joe Mantegna was fantastic. The boy was great. He stayed in show business only for a couple years after that. I'm glad. Show business can eat kids alive. I hope he left while he still had that sweetness and sensitivity.

I hope he got out in time, too...

I love the messy house - it looks like ours.
It's a lived-in let the kids play kind of house :thumbsup2

Yeah, it was great when he was searching for one particular toy under the bed and pushed everything out of the way to find it. Like it was such a normal thing to do. :lmao:

The movie's over.
I love how sweet it is with Josh & Morgan at the end.
I noticed his friend, Morgan, is the same actor who
a few years later played Omri in "The Indian in the Cupboard."
Another good one, IMO.

I decided to do some searching:

The real Josh Waitzkin was 16 when the movie came out.
http://www.joshwaitzkin.com/bio.html

Max Pomeranc (the actor who protrayed Josh)
was one of the top 100 chess players in his
age group in the USA while making the movie!
And you're right, he dropped out of acting soon after.

I know what you mean about him in his room.
It cracks me up when he plays against his dad "for real"
and he's playing Mousetrap, talking to a friend on the phone,
and then he's in the bathtub all while his dad's
thinking and thinking and thinking...

While Josh is in the bathtub:
Dad says, "It's your move."
"Did you move that pawn?"
"I moved A pawn."
"Yeah, you moved that one.
Ok, now move my horse in front of my king."
Then dad corrects him on horse vs. knight. :rotfl:

HBO will be releasing a new made for TV documentary called "Bobby Fischer Against the World." Airs June 6th. Should be great!

Thanks for mentioning this movie, I watched it again and still love it! Laurence Fishburn was so young!
