Sci-Fi Restaurant Awkward?

We will have 6 people dining for lunch. 3 adults and 3 kids (4, 4, & 2). I looked at the pictures of this restaurant and it seems like it would be very awkward to dine here with little ones. How many people fit in a "row"?

If you have 6 in your party they will seat you at your own "car". 2 people in each row.

you could have one kid with each adult???

be advised that it is DARK ! all the time....and the movies are kinda creepy - some weird looking monsters - some overacted screaming - might spook out the little ones...:scared1:

I do think it is awkward seating. You will end up having one adult and one child in each row of the car. There is very little ability to talk to the others in your party without turning around. We've eaten there twice (party of 3) and DH sat with DD in the front and then I sat behind them. DD liked the atmosphere but it wasn't much fun for me sitting by myself with their backs to me. This May we are going to Disney and taking the grandparents so we will be 4 adults and 1 child. We decided to skip the Sci-Fi and do 50's Prime Time instead partly because of the seating issue (and also because I think the grandparents will enjoy the 50's Prime Time more).

We ate there in Oct. with 4 (Disney) adults in our party. My DH & I sat together & our DS & his girlfriend sat in front of us. We were able to talk by them turning around, but we mostly talked to the person next to us. Regardless, we really enjoyed eating there for lunch. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it as much, if I had to sit alone. I'm also not sure how I'd feel about "hitchhikers". We were seated in a car for 4.

Seating is two by two. We have never found it to be awkward at all, but I can see how others may disagree. We talk to each other all the time, at home and on vacation. Not being able to have a conversation with all members of our party over the course of one meal isn't a big deal to us. At times I wish I didn't have to talk to the rest of my family.

Seriously though, if you like to have dinner conversation it's not easy to do at Sci-Fi. If you're okay having one meal without a family conversation then go and give it a try. You could sit one adult one child per seat. If the 4 year olds are mature and don't need help with their meals you could also put the two of them together in one seat in front of the adults.

Most of the cars seat six so chances are you'll have a car to yourself. We have been seated with others before and didn't have a problem with it. They're in front of or behind us so no conversation is really necessary. We did share our onion rings with a couple sitting behind us once, LOL. There were way more than I could eat, DS doesn't like them, so I shared. They were a friendly chatty couple though. I wouldn't have offered otherwise. ;)

I think it may be great for a lunch, and the kids will definitely love it, especially the 4 year olds--I agree one adult, one child.

For family fun we love the 50's Primetime Diner! Defintely, you want to try that for dinner. :yay:

There are a few normal tables in there too. You can request sitting at one, once you reach the front desk.
