Sci-Fi Diner thoughts

My BBQ Chicken sandwich was...well dry and gross. The atmosphere was amazing though, so that's why I'll be going back. Next time I'll just order a plain ol' burger, they can't screw that up.

Oh and our server, Ken, was extremely rude and awful.

The main reason DW and I love Sci Fi is because it is consistently the quietest meal we have at WDW. Have 2 rambunctious boys (1 & 7). They sit quietly and eat and watch the "Drive-in" screen every single time. That, combined with the drive-in style speakers at each table makes for an eerily quiet dining experience. For us at least. We treasure this and contrast it regularly to the cacaphony of noise that is any character buffet at WDW.

I think that is one reason we also love it, of course I'd go just for the onion rings. Our lively boys (2 & 6) will actually sit totally entranced by the clips - love that!!

We love the Sci-Fi!!

Where else could you ever eat in a place like that. Stick to the basics, the burgers are only on the menu for lunch, but I heard you could have them for dinner. I make the last lunch ressie around 4:00 not to take that chance, the onion rings are great, the chilli and so is the artichoke dip.

When you eat there you are eating there for atmosphere and it never disappoints us!!!:goodvibes

I have actually have had the BBQ chicken sandwich twice and REALLY enjoyed it both times... I did not find the chicken to be dry at all.... But you are right, they cannot mess up a burger.... DH has ordered the cheese burger all three times we have gone to the Sci-Fi.... He likes it a lot.

We also really like the spinach dip... Too bad it is not covered on the plan any more

I have never understood why this gets slammed so hard. I have eaten there numerous times it it has been fine to real good. I have only been for lunch though and always get a burger or sandwich. Nothing has ever been bad.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think of it as a "dinner" place. It's definitely a burgers & fries type of restaurant. And the atmosphere makes it more than worth the trip. Interesting OP mentions the Unofficial Guide slamming it. Is this Birnbaum's? I thought they liked it. I don't have the most recent one.. maybe the review has changed.

It's not Birnbaum's - it's official. although a fun read it's very pro Disney.

The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World is the actual name of the book in question. It's a good book and it takes off the rose colored glasses.

I had lunch at Sci-Fi last week with DH and my parents. It was our first time there. We all really liked it. Between us all we had burgers, fries, milkshakes, and a reuben. The food wasn't gourmet, but for "diner food" it was really good. And, of course, the ambience was great. We had great service, as well. I was a little nervous after reading some of the bad reviews, but none of us would hesitate to go back again.

We've been there a few times and totally loved it. We have never had a bad meal there. They have really good Hamburgers, Milkshakes. How can you mess that up?!?!?!? Seriously we always enjoy this restaurant.:thumbsup2

DH & I went there in December at his request & absolutely loved it!! We actually went in without ressies & were promptly seated. I got the chicken sandwich & DH got the rueben together with the onion rings & loved everything we got. Service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. Loved it & can't wait to go back again!!!

Sci Fi is one of the few places I took pictures of the food:confused3
all the other times we were half done eating before I remembered to do it:rolleyes1
